monitor batch job
we have a batch job that monitors an application for errors - the batch job checks for the existence of a file and if the file exists then there is an error in the application. Can opmanager somehow be setup to monitor this or run the batch file and be alerted if the conditions are true?
redirection of the traps in OpManager
Hi all, I have a question about the configuration of OpManager. We would like to use OpManager with another product and in fact, we want to redirect the traps in this other software. Is there a way to see the traps in OpManager in the Alarm section and also redirect all these traps to see them in another Network Management System? Thank you for your responses. regards L.
Notifications associated to devices
newbie questions, I guess: 1) How can I view which notfications are associated with whcih devices? 2) can I associate a notification with multiple device types (for instance 'all routers' and 'all servers'), or do I need to create a notification for each device type, if I want 'all'?
Fresh Install of OpManager 6.0 gets MySQL error
I get the below error when trying to start OpManger for the first time on Linux RedHat. After I get the error I see that MySQL was started and running on the right port. Polling does not work after changing polling interval
Hi, When adding resource monitor snmp Partition Details of the Device (%) to my server and changing the polling interval to 5 minutes, it doesn't seem to poll the disk. It will give me the correct percentage immediately after adding the monitor, after that no values are added. Anyone have an idea? Thanks in advance
monitor Process or monitor Port of Process, which better???
hi, i just want to monitor the process of windows eg. svchost.exe TCP Port135, i used to monitor this process by using other sw. it allow us to choose the monitored service from the process list retrieved from that server. for OpManager, it work in another way, by specifying TCP port number. i don't know which method is better. Sometime process may error but port 135 still open. So we'll get alert from Opmanager or not in this case. do u have any recommendations? :oops:
CPU Utilization and Disk Utilization doesn't work properly
Hi. I've some issues. I'm using the exact same OS and configuration, the exact same snmp conf and exact same monitors on all the servers and still some servers are unable to retrive the right data. What could be wrong?
Business View Icons
hi, We have a cool map setup with sites and servers and icons that change from green to orange when links are slow to red when links are down. I want my icons to flash though rather than just change colour. Is that possible. It looks like OpManager using png images and what I need is gif images so animation can be used. thanks, Lerwick
Device not responding after successfull discovering
Hi, I'm trying out the free edition of OpManager 6.0 Build 6003. I need some help with a device being reported after some time as "device down", but the discovering of the device is successfull and the polling and for example, the interface statistic is successfull and correct. Event log problems.
I am reciving event log from one of the probes, this probe are located on the same Nettwork as the Central server. But the other probe that comunicates with sentral server over the internet I can't recive any event log's? WMI are functioning (Windows Services and Exchange). Are there some simple explanation for this ? For testing purpose I activate a new Probe at my House and configuret it to retrive Event logs from my server, but no luck. I can WMI Services / Exchange but Event log does not function.
Business View For URL`s
Hi, Can you advise, is it possible to have the URL`s we monitor, in a business view. The reason we requre this is so if a User that does not have admin rights logs into OPmanager they can see the URL status. At present i dont belive you can assign them access to URL`s only business views. thanks

Hi Guys, I have opmanager installed and i'd like to dump all the info and start from scratch without having to do a clean install again, is there some way i can dump all the info collected in opanager and start over again..
Why I can't find installMySQL.sh?
I try to install Opmanager on Linux. But I can't find installMySQL.sh which are mentioned in Install Guide of Opmanager and MySql can't start. Where is this shell script? or I need to install Mysql before I install Opmanager?
Alarms Graph
OpManager can not show Alarms Graph on Home page, I was installed OpManager with evaluated licensed on Fedora Core 5, All process done but it can not show alarms graph.
OpManager Service Monitoring
Good morning, I have added 2 new service monitors which I have defined. In fact, I would like to monitor the port 161 and 162 (snmp and snmptrap) in order to see how reacts my monitoring server. I did it but the services are both showing N/A. When I do a netstat -na, I can see this ports open. Why the response times are not available?? Has anyone an idea about this problem? Probe crashes
Hi 2 of our 5 probes are crashing evry hour on the hour. What I can find out is that the probe shuts down becouse a connection to the web server can't be made. URL monitoring?
URL monitoring? Have added various URL to be monitored both internal and external sites and one site keeps responding as down but when you click on the link in OpManager it takes you to the site and it is up? Have tried clearing the alarm but still comes back? Any help or reason out there? thanks
IO disks monitoring with OpManager
hello everybody, I would like to monitor my I/O disks on my windows and linux systems. Concerning linux, there is a mib (ucdiodisk) with metrics like ssIOSent, ssIOReceive, ssIORawSent,ssIORawReceived which can send me back a value. But for windows, I'm unable to find how to monitor them...My servers are Compaq Proliant and OpManager proposes out-of-the-box oid like SCSI High Read Sectors for example. Custom Monitors - Testing Failed
Hi, I'm relatively new to OpManager and have been trying to add a custom monitor that uses a WMI visual basic script to monitor whether a server is attached to its cluster. I have followed multiple guidelines found on these forums until i have: 1. Copied the Script to the correct Folder (I have tested the code in cmd and it works fine) 2. Edited the 2 necessary .xml files 3. Added the monitor to a test server The test server isn't load balanced so the usual script will not work, however i have created

Linux CPU Monitor Doesn't Work
I'm running net-snmp on my linux server and all the stats are comming in great, however CPU monitoring refuse to work. It returns 0% even though top shows 20% for cpu usage.
New Feature Request
It would be very helpful if there was a way to view who is logged onto opmanager at a gven time. Just so if there is matinace require on the OPmanger database, we could see the users, either username or ip address and notify them only.

Hello everybody, I am monitoring my file systems but the fact is that I have too many and in OpManager, the graphs are displayed but their name are not shown. We can see only the oid : .0, .1, .5, .11 which is not very clear. I would like to write manually the name of the file system above each graphs... Is it possible? Thank you! Best Regards, J.
Backplane utilization not showing up
I've got a few Catalyst 65xx and 55xx series switches in my environment and I'd like to get the backplane utilization out of it. I've setup OpManager 5.5 on a box and sucessfully added the device but the % backplane and CPU utilization don't show up, but the memory utilization does. Any ideas on how I can get it running? Thanks.
event history size
Hi, The event history is limited to 1000 rows. My router only sends snmp traps about the connections. It would be cool if I could somehow do the following: 1) increase the # of rows to 5000 2) have an sql statement to pull out the data so a log processor can scan for idr I think the file is DBObjects.conf in the conf directory. I increased everything from 1000 to 5000. But this didn't work. I must be missing another config file. Any ideas of which one it could be?
Wake On Lan not working
Anyone else having this issue? When I originally installed and tested the product, the wake on lan function worked wonderfully. We were able to select multiple systems and wake them without a hitch. However, now that we've purchased the product, I am unable to even get the page to generate the list properly so that I can select multiple systems to wake. Any fixes for this? We are running Windows Server 2003 (Standard) and have already applied SP2 to OpUtils 3.2. We are also using McAfee Enterprise
Problem with Device
Hello ! We are currently testing a free version of OpManager (Build number 6003) in your School to supervise our network. Test is done with a Windows 2003 Server, a management station with XP Pro, a 3Com SuperStack3 4226T Switch and a Cisco Catalyst 2950 Switch. URL Monitoring
Hi! I've noticed that OpManager sends Email Warnings for URL Monitoring with a different sender address. (noreply@adventnet.com) All my normal warnings have the sender address I have defined in the Email Profile. Probe down not showing in the customer dashboard (MSP)
I wonder if it is a feature, or just a bug I had problem with communication with one probe. The alarm was detected and generated with category "probe". The problem is that this alarm was among other alarms. Since thre was no other alarm for that specfic probe, the first look at the dashboard (on the home page) was showing no error and it apperead as if everything was OK Suggestion 1 : add a column or some error indication in the dashboard to show probe status. OpManager Service Discovery

I have added a new service (citrix) and I would like it to be discovered on my old devices already added since a long time. Funkyness after 1 week (Error!)
