Device Expert Error on Server Settings Page
When clicking on "Server Settings" in the administration area of device expert, a window briefly pops up saying NTLM authentication failed, redirecting to login page. This began after I changed my server IP on version 5560. Upgrading to 5570 did not fix it. Any ideas? Is there a process for changing the server IP that I should have done? Thanks, Jerry

Backup config file life
Hello, Once device expert backs up the config file for a particular device. How does it get stored? I know it creates a zip file for the configs, however does it replace the last backed up config with current backed up config of the device, or it creates a new backup file with new name (eg date/time etc)? Exclude Criteria - ntp clock-period
Hello, We are running Build 5450 and have several Cisco devices (2x AS5350, 2x AS5400) that have the ntp clock-period configuration line. These are in the Cisco AccessServer template. The documentation states that these lines were ignored in Build 5330, however, we continually receive notices on our daily sync checks. We have tried adding exclude criteria for these within the AccessServer template but nothing seems to ignore this line. Any suggestions? Thanks, Ben

We use the trial version to test when config changed, deviceexpert is backup or not. Then, we found that under XOS or extremeware, they all show "Syslog Change Detection" is "disabled". How to enable this function?
How to modify CLI command
Hi, For extreme XOS, you using "tftp xx.xx.xx.xx -v VR-default -p -l primary.cfg -r xxxx.txt" 1. if we want to tftp from vr-Mgmt, how to change it? 2. I think "xxx.txt" may chage to xxx.cfg is better.
Support for New Devices
I have some new model Cisco 2960S and 3750X Switches with new OIDS. I checked the logs after discovery failed and get the output below. Is there a reasonable process for adding support for new OIDS and associating them with a template? Why can't it just continue to work ?!?!
For almost a year I've tried to get this product to work. DeviceExpert will back up our configs for a few days and then fail. This is a consistent occurrence that either needs to be fixed or we need our money back. I was interested in looking at trying to incorporate the network monitoring component, but at this point I have no grounds to present to my director when we can't get this resolved and working correctly.
SCP Server?
Is it possible to run DeviceExpert as an SCP server? I'd like to send remote routers configurations to an external address and NAT that to the DeviceExpert server for configuration management archival and reporting. I wouldn't be trying to push any configurations or pull anything via SSH/Telnet.

Vendor Templates changes.
Hi We have a question about the Vendor Templates. On some templates is a way to backup over de ssh shell (like ALAXALA) On some templates you can just backup with tftp (like hp procurve) Can you give us a advice whats the easiest way to change the template of vendors settings. We figured out that all settings are in the mysql DB and also in the conf folders saved as xml. Ist there a easy way to changes the xml files an migrate to the actual DB? DE 5550 Cisco Backup operation
Fresh install of version 5550 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64bit. Unable to backup any cisco configs. Failure shows extra characters and or early break somewhere in the destination file name. Example below.. not sure where it got 301_configfile.txt from. Same issue on other devices but with various syntax at the same prompt. Is there a way to update DeviceExpert for linux via an SSH shell? We do not have a GUI installed on the server and the UpdateManager.sh script is telling us that an X11 interface missing. Is there a way to perform an upgrade from a shell prompt only?

Squeeze Bootflash Script false postive
I am running a script to squeeze the bootflash on Cisco Routers. The commands run and squeeze the bootflash. The device expert reports that the script failed. When I look at the execution output it worked. Below is the script. Do I need to add anything to state the script ended? Any help would be appreciated. Merge two instances of deviceexpert.
We have two copies of device expert running and we want to consolidate on one server. How can I export the inventory from one of the instances to import into the other running instance? Both servers have separate inventories at this time we just want to merge the two.
Evaluation of DeviceExpert is rocky so far
So far in our evaluation we are seeing lots of problems with the backup scripts not grabbing the correct files from various devices including F5 BigIP and Checkpoint Firewalls. On the F5, you are looking for a file that does not exist and on the Checkpoint you are backing up a single file that is not complete enough to restore a failed firewall. Is there a way to directly access the config scripts to fix them?

Managing web based appliances
I am looking for a solution to integrate configuration management across multipl devices and virtual appliances. While the networking equipment supports snmp and cli, several of the virtual appliances use a browser interface. I noticed that Qengine can capture and replay browser sessions, is there a way to use this to assign actions and simulate user actions to provide confguration management of such devices Thanks Jon

Errors in Logs - Device Expert Not Running - Linux
I noticed my device expert web interface was down. I rebooted and it didn't fix the problem. Then I started looking through logs, and this is all I could find that seems relevant.... any ideas? Syslog Disabled??
Hi there, Whats the meaning when in DEVICE DETAILS show me: SYSLOG CHANGE DETECCTION: DISABLED Since the devices are: Fortigates 50B and 60B and the syslog are properly configured, why this message? In a Cisco Catos CORE Switch also show me that status: Disabled. The point is that im not sure what refers to. Any help??? Thanks
OpManager Plug-in not working after moving to SSL

NetGear Backup Device Command Incorrect
When attempting to perform a device backup of a NetGear ProSafe switch, the backup command line that is being sent to the switch is incorrect which causes a failure of the backup. Is there a way to manually modify the backup command so that it is correct? Discover devices fails - "Host is unreachable"
Hi there, I'm having difficulty with the trial version of DeviceExpert trying to discover devices. It always fails with the error "Host is unreachable" even though the device is available. I can ping the devices from the server no problem and can add the devices manually but it always fails when using discovery. Is this a known problem or a limitation of the trial version? cheers

Discover device fails - "Host is unreachable"
Hi there We are trialling DeviceExpert in our environment at the moment and I'm unable to discover devices. Each time it fails with the error "Host is unreachable". I can however add the same device manually with no problem. I've tried discovering devices in the same subnet and in different subnets as the DeviceExpert server with no luck. From the server I can ping the devices with no problem as well. I have tried changing the retries from 2 to 10 and increased the timeout to 5000ms but nothing
NCM plug-in gives License error

Hello, I'm doing a NCM software selection and DeviceExpert is at the top of the list. First question from customer is related to the new devices that are not supported (NEC, Proxim). DE backup operation creates "User authentication failed" messages on Cisco ASA 5500
DE is able to backup a Cisco ASA5500 successfully. However, viewing the event logs on the ASA during a backup, shows that DE made multiple login attempts during one backup procedure. It looks like there were 3 successful logins and one failed login during each and every backup procedure. Why are there multiple logins?...I assume for each command issued? like, "show version" "show running-config" "show startup-config" etc. Why is there a failed login?...can this be fixed? Thank you
