Vendor Templates changes.

We have a question about the Vendor Templates.
On some templates is a way to backup over de ssh shell (like ALAXALA)
On some templates you can just backup with tftp (like hp procurve)
Can you give us a advice whats the easiest way to change the template of vendors settings.
We figured out that all settings are in the mysql DB and also in the conf folders saved as xml.
Ist there a easy way to changes the xml files an migrate to the actual DB?
I think i wouldn't be a problem to figure out how to do our own commands in the xml files.
We tried it short but could just insert the changes with a total iniitialisation of the DB.
It would be nice to keep the device an user settings in the DB und just import the xml changes.
Is there a easy provided way over a shell script?
