report question
I would like a report, by computer name, that shows processor info. I see processor info if i click on details in the inventory, i.e. Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz. I can't seem to find that same info in any of the reports. I also tried creating a custom report (not query) but can't find it there either. Can someone give a rookie some clues ?
Computer not in contact with desktop central
Is this something I need to worry about or something I need to check. I'm getting this for a couple of computers per day. Admin Account
Is there a way for me to do one of the following? 1. Rename the admin account to something besides the default? 2. Disable the admin account and add a Active Directory user as the primary admin (we only have purchased 1 user license) 3. Remove the credentials from auto-populating into the web interface when it is loaded. We have some security concerns since our web console will need to be Internet facing, and would prefer that we are not publishing the default admin user account to the world.
Ability to save configurations / packages into sub containers / folders in DC
We have over 150 approved applications. These are further divided into winXP, Win7, 32bit and 64bit classifications. It would be great if we could create subfolders / containers so we can group similair packages and configurations, rather then having to search the entire list of applications. Is this possible for future releases?
Remarks
Why do the remarks say "Patch already installed" if the current status is Retry (see attached screenshot)? If the current status is "retry" then the remarks should state the reason for the retry. But if the reason for the retry is "patch already installed" then a retry is meaningless.

How can you install agent via group policy and have the machines go into a specific remote office within DC?
ERROR when deploying configurations during startup!
I found following interesting line in the computer.log file on such a client machine: ***** [ERROR] ProcessPatch : Scheduled time not reached. The configuration will be applied on next upcoming cycles !!! ***** "Scheduled time not reached"??? What does this mean? I did NOT change the "Install Between" setting of these configurations. Does anyone else have such problems? regards, peter
Winzip Update
We recently bought winzip 16.5 which has been rolled out to some desktop machines and licenced. After a recent patch update i've noticed the machines have been "upgraded" to Winzip version 17 but now the software is unlicensed and the old licence key will not work as it is for version 16.5 not 17. Could i suggest that this is removed from the list of patches?

Missing vs. Failed
I'm doing an automate patch push and I'm getting A LOT of machines that say for example "4 patches missing" yet after deployment it says "4 patches failed" I'm not sure what is going on. When i go to the windows directly on said machine, the KB*.log file isn't even present. I'm supposed to patch over 1000 machines tonight and I don't feel confident in DesktopCentral at this point..

Relocate Swuploads Folder
When you configure the Software Repository, you can configure an existing network share(i.e. \\MachineName\ExampleShare). This works well to set the default folder when adding my own software for deployment. However, this doesn't work for *all* software. If I use the Templates to download software directly from the vendor, it doesn't place these downloaded applications in my Software Repository. Instead, these files are placed in "DesktopCentral_Server\webapps\DesktopCentral\swrepository\swuploads".

Software Inventory Groups - Version Number?
I have created several software groups for software such as a Desktop Central Agent group containing several versions of the agent software. When viewing the group on Inventory -> Software view though a software version is still displayed although several versions of the software are included in that group. Custom Report with Hardware and Computer subcategory information.
I am looking to create a custom report in Desktop Central that includes both computer and hardware information, I noticed when selecting one subcategory or the other my options are limited. Incorrect number of scans
Please see attached screen shot. There are only 7 machines in this custom group, so how can 26 machines have been scanned successfully? Also, there is a misspelling in this drop-down menu (see attached screen shot 2)
Managing Mobile Computers
What is the best practice for managing laptops of Road Warriors, or those people that are occasionally in the LAN, but more frequently are traveling to various client sites and connected only via internet. We have a server that is setup in the DMZ, but should I only install a remote agent, or does DC attempt to connect internally first, and then if that fails, connect to the public facing server? New user in AD group automatically run installation of printer or something else
I have a task to do but i really dont know how to make it with DC8. I had to install printers in one BU on all Computers that are in that BU exmp XY. I install DC agent on all computers that are in AD in OU_XY After that i create Custom group Printer_XY and i put all computers from AD in OU_XY in that custom group. Last step was to create Configuration that install that printer from print server on Custum group and that work just perfect. Now i how changes and my question is how one computer
Saved Configurations
The Automate Patch Deployment feature works nicely, but is there also a way to create a configuration within Desktop Central that can be saved and re-used on-demand? In other words, can I create and save a configuration for a custom group of computers that includes a new scan, download and deploy, then I could just manually re-run that configuration whenever I wanted? The attached screenshot shows that a new scan and download can be included in a configuration, but all I see is "No Patches Added."

We are starting to use Dropbox and I do not see Dropbox in the software inventory reports. Anyone having this problem? Any fix? guy
Software deployment exclusion by dynamic group
Is it possible to exclude a configuration that is deployed to a specific group in AD from members of a dynamic custom group? I see that a static group can be applied, but the dynamic groups are missing from the selection window.
Desktop Central single sign on
Is there an effort to integrate Single Sign-On into Desktop Central? I purchased licenses for my team to use this tool for desktop management. Having to log in manually to a tool that is used regularly is inefficient, especially when other ManageEngine products have this capability. Build 80123 triggers Patch deployment, without one being scheduled
I just updated Desktop Central to Build 80123 within our organization. Upon doing so, multiple computers began being patched by Desktop Central, despite no configuration or automated process being scheduled. How / why did this happen? This has never been the case with past updates, and I am worried it's going to force our entire organization to reboot in the middle of the work day.

After Patching reboot reschedule time by user
Hi, We have Desktop Central MSP 8 (Build 80014) server. We are using DS server for Patch deployment process. We have choose the restart policy "Allow user to skip reboot". Restart later option after the patching, user reported that if they opt to skip, DC pops up again every 5 to 10 minutes and they can not specify the reboot reschedule time. How user can reschedule the reboot after 1 hour, 4 hour etc..? Regards Tejvir
Problem with proxy on new server
Iam moving DC from a W7 32bit too a WS2008 Standard and i have big problem to get the proxy to work. I put everything in the same way as i had before host: ... port 8080 username.... password... The answare is:Proxy Authentication Failed,Specify a valid username and password Then i change to the FTP port on server port 21 The answare is: HTTP Proxy Settings Updated Successfully! But port 21 is only for FTP so i obviosly cant use it. Port 8080 worked just fine on the old machine but not now what iam
Desktop Central Patches Not Downlaoding (2 kb per)
This weekend I have run into a problem where patches i previously had downloaded and installed on other machines have changed to 2kbs in size each. I have tried deleting and redownloading the patches and get the same results. I have tried to manually download the patches and renaming them to fit the scheme and have had no luck. This has only been an issue in the last 2 days and seems to be with adobe air, flash, java 6v38 and the latest itunes, all of which were installed previously this week.

Clarification suggestions
I would like to recommend the following 2 clarifications: 1. On the Patch Summary page (for example) it might say "228 systems are scanned, but the patch summary reports are not generated". This is confusing when we have only 208 machines being managed. Instead, you could say "228 scans have completed, but the patch summary reports have not been generated." 2. Limited System Tools
Are there any plans to improve the currently limited set of system tools in desktop central? Products like SCCM/Altiris have the ability to run remote command prompts and kill tasks but the only thing DC can do is defrag and clean disk?
Sofware Inventory - SQL2005
Back in August I logged a call (ref 13084604) about the software inventory function misreporting. Desktop Engine wasnt able to differentiate between the free SQL2005 Desktop Edition and the full SQL2005 product. I was told it would be able to within a couple of months but heard nothing back and just that its still misreporting. Has there been any progress on this issue? Thanks

Hi there, I'm lost with this one, and I am hoping someone can offer some help: I want to be able to deploy all the patches that have been approved to all the machines that require them. Sounds very simple really, but can't seem to find a way to do that. It seems I have to manually select each computer from the OU, or type it in by hand.
