Revert Patches with a Policy?
Hello. Say a vendor publishes a patch that breaks a user's machine. Is it possible to revert this patch through the Patch Mgmt or Configurations systems? Thanks.
Moving Phone to new Mobile Device Manager
Back in June I attempted to Migrate Desktop Central to SQL database, which failed and left Desktop Central unusable. I attempted repair per instructions provided from Manage Engine Support but nothing worked so I reinstalled Desktop Central on the Server. As a result the few phones I had on the old instance still have certificates for enrollment to Mobile Device Management, I cleared most of them out but it has been awhile since I did it and I have found a phone that will not join the new MDM because
Custom Script says it executed, but doesn't actually
I'm sending the following command through a Custom Script to one machine powershell -noprofile Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Force This command works fine when I run it manually from a command prompt running under the System account on the server. However, when I push it through the Custom Script option in Desktop Central, it reports that it executed successfully, but the ExcecutionPolicy is not actually changed on the server. Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
Launch a .cmd batch file as a network admin per computer
I need to run a .cmd file as a network admin user on each computer. The .cmd file checks the version of certain files, copies down new files from a network share if needed and then initiates a silent software install from a network share. I need to do this per computer not per user. I have tried several methods, Launch application, launch application as a cmd.exe, add to software packages as cmd.exe with all the command lines. I cannot get it to be launched or if it is it does not run correctly.
Distribution Server in DMZ again
Hello Checked Documentation and didn't find answer for our solution. Please could anyone guide firewall/DC/DS/Agent settings. We have DeskCentral server located in CorporateNetwork, many DistributionServer located in different offices (within CorpNetwork) We have many laptop users working at home/Public One more DC installed at AWS (as DMZ) with Firewalls rules (described in Documentation about DMZ) Solution is not working. Agent can't communicate with DC. Troubleshooter shows DC and Notification
Network installation software shows wrong total
If anyone can help : The Network installation shows 1 but in Associate License > Installed Computers- shows 2 computers. WHY? AND Q: Why there are an option to push to the Associated Computers ?? What difference it make? Thank you.
How to disable HTTP?
We have HTTPS enabled on Desktop Central console but are still able to connect to the web ui through HTTP over port 8022 (working via TCP 80). How do we disable this? We would like it so that it is ONLY accessible over HTTPS. Thanks.
postgres Query for files by computer
HI Guys, Can someone please help me with a postgres report for getting the files that are on all our PC's. Grouped by computer. At the moment it only shows the count. We would like to drill down to see the files if possiable. With the new file types feature i assume this can be done? Thanks for the help. Windows 10 Anniversary Build 1607 False Positive Finding
I've been working on pushing out the Windows 10 1607 build to some of our PCs. Because Microsoft has been having issues with 1607 and the cumulative updates, they've had to create multiple variations of those cumulative updates each month. In September and October I've noticed on our PCs with 1607 that I receive false positives after the newer CU is applied. Example: KB111111 is released and applied to a PC. Desktop Central scans the PC and all is well. KB111112 is released to fix an issue with KB111111
Remote Office in DMZ
Some background, we have many autonomous business units with no connection back to us besides VPN. We want to supply patch management capabilities through ManageEngine. Is it possible to drop a remote office in the DMZ have the BU in that remote office and open ports back to the main console so they can manage their own remote office? Has anyone done a setup like this? Alternatively has anyone moved to the MSP model and can provide information on how it differs from Enterprise? Thanks.

Is there a way when you do an asset scan to pull license numbers for software from pcs on the network, so when it shows as a network installation it also knows what key it was registered with?
Patch dependency
Hello, I was patching a pc when I got a message in DC saying that patch id 21330 was not applicable. The reason was "dependency patch is not applicable for this target". I checked in the log and found that patch id 21330 is dependent on patch 103214 which doesn't even show up as missing anywhere. I manually installed the patch on the system and got no errors. Did a patch scan after that and the 21330 patch is installed on the system. Is there an issue with that patch's dependency info ? Why did I

How often/When do the third party updates usually get added to the database in Desktop Central? Is there a set schedule? I have forced a vulnerability database update, but I do not yet see the new Adobe Flash Player update 23.0.0.205. Thank you, Michelle
Managing Google Chrome
It's been decided that google chrome will not be allowed on our systems. Unfortunately a mixture of administrators and the ability to install it without administrative access has meant that we now have 314 instances of it on our network. Is there an easy way to manage this within Desktop Central as the 'Prohibited' doesn't seem to be able to manage it due to the nature on the none admin installs etc? CSV upload
The issue that I am having is I am trying to upload a CSV file with the licence information ect, so I can manage our licences easier. The issue I'm facing is that I'm downloading the CSV file from the software licence report and when I attempt to upload the same csv file in the manage licence section, it tells me that it is not in the correct format to upload it. I am unsure why this is the case when I am downloading the CSV file from desktop central and when I don't edit the file and try to upload
Install Package
Being new to Desktop Central, I'm confused as to how to add a package to a specific computer in our domain. When it comes to adding the computer, it asks for the domain or local office, but I don't see where it specifies the actual computer to install the package on. Am I missing something? I have searched the Desktop Central website for a solution but have not found one. Darren

Hello, We want all of our servers to look at Desktop Central for Windows Updates and not download them automatically from Microsoft. What is the best practice for that? Are there recommended settings for Group Policy. For example, Do we set the domain group policy to disable automatic updates or disable the Windows update service?

Inventory Reports/Software product keys
Whilst performing an inventory report for software product keys I have found that several items in the list appear only to be displaying the first few characters of the product key but on the rest of them (the same product) it is displaying the full product key, I would like to know why this is occuring and how I can go about resoloving this issue Thank you.
Software Whitelist
Is there a configuration where user is unable to run application (EXE or MSI) that is not listed in inventory (which I refer as whitelist)? Our whitelist is way smaller than our blacklist. Trying to go through our black list currently on inventory would take up more time than just adding a whitelist of software approved that people can have going forward and if its not on that list than they can not install it. Missing patch 21645
There was a patch with the ID 21645 (October 2016 Monthly Rollup, KB3185330), which I was applying to my Windows 7 PCs. Now it is not showing up to be installed on any of them. It's not even showing up at all when I look in the list of patches. What gives? I would like to deploy this to my PCs. Bug: WoL via Deployment Policy
I have v92119. I simply cannot get any Deployment policy to wake up any devices. However, a scheduled WoL task under Tools does work. I have 90+ PC's and out of hours patch scheduled do not work. To get around this, I have to use a scheduled WoL task beforehand. As an example, a patch schedule with a deploymemt policy to wake up 90 PC's at 02:00 will not wake them up. However, a scheduled WoL task at 02:30 will wake them up. This is not a scalable solution because you cannot assign a scheduled WoL
Bug: Registering Agents when over Licenses
We have version 92119. Last week we installed agents on 3 PC's. However we reached our licence limit so these devices never showed in the console. After we applied more licences, the PC's still did not show in the console, even after several reboots. We were able to install agents on other PC's and the came up in the console. The only way we could get the 3 PC's to show in the console was to repair the agent install. To summarise - agents will not register if you install when over your licence limit,

I have then updated that software deployment package to the latest version. MDM iOS devices timeout during automatic configuration
Everything looks good on the DEP side. It's showing that it is connected to the DesktopCentral server and the devices enrolled in DEP are showing up on the MDM DEP page. After I assign a user and the device status is updated to "Awaiting Device Activation" I turn on the device and it attempts automatic configuration but gives a timeout error. This process is all fairly new to me, any ideas on where it is failing and what I should check?

Adding Multiple Domain in seperate Forests
Hi, I have a question that i have asked to the Desktop Central live chat but till now i got no reply. Is it possible to add multiple domains that are in separate forests. These forests are in separate physical location and i would like to manage the domain from the desktop central. I manage to communicate to the domain controller by installing the agent via direct communication.
