Now you can Scan and deploy Mac patches automatically
Using Desktop Central you can scan and deploy Mac patches automatically. The benefit includes : Scan and fetch status reports: By following the script (Ref the link given below) you can scan the designated systems and access the reports to analyze the status updates from a centralized location, which means you will have in-hand information about the systems and the reports helps you to take a informed decision. Patch deployment: You can perform the patch deployment from a centralized location for
Dell Warranty Status Check
It would be great if desktop central can integrate Dell warranty status check into inventory. Desktop Central pulls the service tag from a Dell computer now, but if that service tag can be linked to the Dell warranty page http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/my_systems_info/details?c=us&cs=555&l=en&s=biz&~ck=anavml That would be great! Spiceworks does this already and I think it would be a simple integration.
Desktop Central Remote Site Modification/Replication Policy
I was having problems with modification of a remote site , specifically installing and configuring OS Deployment Components. I had a previous replication policy configured when testing this feature when it was first released. The symptoms i had experienced: I was unable save OS Deployment Components settings nor would the settings create an image or driver repository profile when saving modified remote site. After working a case with support, the cause was that I had deleted a previously assigned

Does Desktop Central support LDAP over SSL?

Adobe Acrobat XI and Adobe Reader XI support ended on October 15, 2017 As outlined in the Adobe Support Lifecycle Policy, Adobe provides five years of product support from the general availability date of Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Reader. In line with that policy, support for Adobe Acrobat 11.x and Adobe Reader 11.x will end on October 15, 2017. 1What can you do now? Here is the answer from Adobe on this. You may continue
Sort by online/offline clients
Maybe it's already a feature and I'm just not seeing it but it would be great to be able to sort by a clients status, online, offline, not managed..
MEDC with IPV6
Do the product support IPV6 environment? In the product roadmap? Thanks.
New Feature Wish
Hello All, I think having a Software Inventory is fantastic! I'd love to be able to do the same for Windows Updates. TIA, AlanKeno
Tie new Remote Office to existing Distribution Server
We're deploying a large number of sites which we'd like to organize according to their site codes. It would be excellent for organizational purposes if we could tie a new remote office to an existing DS without having to deploy a new DS. For example if we have a DS in a hub site where multiple primary offices terminate to their local MPLS cloud we'd like to have a DS there which services multiple site codes. With the current architecture we have to assign multiple sites to the site with the DS.
New User - some questions/problems
Hi there, we are currently evaluating DC for our company. I've stumbled across some problems and questions in handling, so maybe you can give me some hints: Test in columns sometimes gets cut off really bad, so i.e. in inventory - I can see OS version "Windows 7.." but not the "...SP1 (x64)". Apparently all column width seem to be fix. OK, they expand a little bit, when I remove columns from view, but still some are way too big while others too small. Is there any possibility to change (and save)
Harvest station IP when submitting to help desk
We are using desktop central in conjunction with Service Desk Plus. Is there a way to make the Desktop central agent automatically include the pc's ip or station name when submitting a ticket to the service desk?
last reboot
Is it possible or would you consider including the last reboot (date/time) in the scanned information from a workstation/server?
Internal DC Chat Room
Has there been any thoughts on adding a chat capability to DC? We have several technicians and it would be nice if there were a built in chat capability where we could all collaborate. I know there are chat programs available but we are limited to what we can use and what we are using now is being removed by our agency. Thanks, Mike
MAC Addresses
I have many computers that have multiple network adapters, which means there are multiple MAC addresses. Desktop Central is picking the wrong MAC address from my clients. Since it's doing this, Wake on LAN doesn't work until I manually enter the correct MAC address. Is there a way to support multiple MAC addresses? If so, can wake on LAN send packets to all MAC addresses to wake the computer up? Thanks TOm
Desktop Central agent for MacOSx
Is support for MacOSx on the road-map for Desktop Central? I know I would purchase a bunch more licenses if that were available.
Licence Management
I've started to use the Licence Management function of Desktop Central today but finding it very cumbersome to use. One issue I've come across is that the software is specific to build versions. For example I'm trying to enter in the correct number of licences for Microsoft Project Professional 2002 but Desktop Central has two items listed for Microsoft Project Professional 2002 - one build 10.0.2915.0 and one build 10.0.8326.0 so i dont know which licence applies to which without manually grouping
Scheduled Reports - Disk Usage
I am trying to setup a scheduled reports on the disk usage of our servers but with detailed view so it includes all attached drives.
Desktop Central Apply Now Tool for LAN computers
DC - Apply Now Tool for LAN Who can use this tool? Desktop Central users who are in the PoC (Proof of Concept) / Trialling / need some configurations to be pushed immediately to the LAN (Local Area Network) clients can use this. Use of the Tool Using the tool you can make the configuration to reach the intended LAN clients immediately. This is achieved by remotely triggering the refresh cycle process. Under what scenario this tool can be used? When you have the following needs and scenarios in
Desktop Central Agents + WinPE with Windows 7
Hello, is it possible to using/install the Desktop Central Agent under Windows 7 PE? We need this kind of feature to have remote access to this client on a remote office like to clean a HDD. Best Regards, PD
Desktop Central exclude
Any chance of getting DC to exclude distribution based on a registry key or if the application has been installed or file version? It would be nice for when you want to blast out something based on very particular requirements. Like "if sage.exe > version 1.0.2 then install sage 1.0.3" Or "if file sage.exe exists then do not install" Or "if HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Sage exists then install" I think I have mentioned this before but never got a response back. Regards, Charles
Automatically block non-approved applications
Hi DesktopCentral team, there is a feature that we really miss in DC. It would be the ability to automatically block the execution of any application unless we approve it.$ Currently, there is the prohibited software list. However, software in this list that cannot be automatically uninstalled are not block for execution. I think the ITeam cannot be credible if it can just pop-up a window at logon saying "you have prohibited software installed on your system" if it cannot block them... This should
Continuous Redeployment of Configurations
I would like to set up continuous redeployment of configurations, but it seems that once a configuration has been executed, you have to modify it, then redeploy it. My end result is, I would like to deploy a shortcut to a certain group of users' desktops. If one of them should delete it, I would like for the shortcut to automatically reappear again. The same with software installs, if I have to reimage a computer, I would like to have all previously executed configurations redeploy automatically
Suggestions for automatic patch management
Firstly, thanks to the DC team for the effort they have put into adding features into the product this year. Really good job! I have a suggestion that relates to the automatic patch process. I use DC to manage a number of laptops that are always on the move. This means that they are often never connected to the network when the auto-patch task is scheduled to run which means that the laptops take forever to be patched. What I think would be great is functionally that allows for auto-patch tasks
Must be an option to enforce configuration happening instantly
I feel it's much better to force the configuration happening instantly, without waiting for refresh interval or system restart , because it is not a good practice in some configurations like creating a new user on workgroup computer, since i can't be wasting time by restarting the policy affected computer just to create a new User and we all know that creating a user is that simple in WindowsXP and does not need even a minute.
DesktopCentral enhancement ideas
1.) Ability to scan Lenovo/IBM hardware warranty 2.) Ability to clone configurations with only "Successful" computers included. Right now we only have the option for none, failed, or all. 3.) Ability to make software prohibited but hidden from the user prompt when it is discovered. I like to add software to prohibited so I can easily track it when it gets uninstalled but I don't want the user to be prompted/notified. Thank you!
Change configuration install software
Now, if change configuration in one distribution, and you have 50 computer with the status Succeeded.... the status reset, and you redistribute again all computers. Mi idea is your could decide, redistribute all computers or To preserve the previous status. For example : change... Time Option, or reboot policy thanks you
There should be an update button.
A button that checks for updates to the program should be available, unless there's one I don't know about.
Patch deplyment 2nd tuesday of month
Hi, As microsoft release patches on 2nd tuesday of the month is ther a way to configure to download and draft for 2nd tuesday of each month
Option to push instantly
I would like to be able to push out applications or patches instantly rather than having to wait 90 minutes or for the user to log in
Configure Email Alerts TO/FROM
Build No : 70127 Desktop Central 7 Inventory > Configure E-Mail Alerts > I set the To: email address in the box to [sendto@mycompany.com]. Click "Ensure that Mail Server Settings is configured." Configure Mail Server Settings and set Sender E-Mail Address to [sendto@mycompany.com]. Click "Send a Test mail", and test email is sent both FROM [sentfrom@mycompany.com] and TO [sentfrom@mycompany.com]. Can this be changed to send to [sendto@mycompany.com] as defined on the previous screen? Thank you, -Aaron
"Redeploy" in Software Deployment
It would be nice to have a "redeploy" option for a configuration -- specifically for redeploying to the computers that failed the first time. There may be an easier way to do it -- but right now, I filter by "Failed" status, cut & paste the results to Excel, and delete everything but the computer names. Next, I add a coma between each computer name and then I recreate the original configuration and paste the computer names in Target. Not hard, but a lot of steps. Seems like this would be a common
Deleting configurations
There really has to be an easier way to delete multiple configurations instead of one at a time. Would it be hard to add check boxes beside each configuration so that you can select multiple old configurations and then "delete selected"?
Roll out MS Office 14 Beta using Desktop Central
Hi Folks, Greetings. MS Office 2010 Beta can be deployed using Desktop Central. Successor of MS Office 2007, code named Office 14 is here with Beta release (also known as MS Office 2010). You might wonder why MS has skipped version 13 in between and penned Office 14 as name, no clues officially, but it could be for superstious reasons (wild guess). It will be available for Windows XP SP3 (32-bit), Windows Vista SP1, Windows 7 (code name Windows Vienna) Office 2010 would also have a 64-bit version
Better USB Control
We know that DesktopCentral can block/deny USB access. It will be great if we could control different types of USB activities. For example: Be possible to create a template that deny usb pendrives and allow usb mouses and keyboards. Example 2: Be possible to create a template that allow read actions in pendrives but deny edit/create/exclude actions.
On-Demand Agent Requests
It would be nice (though I realize there are security implications here) if the agents were able to listen and take commands on demand. If I needed to force push software to an end user who did not understand how to trigger an "Apply Computer Configurations" request, the end user would be stuck for awhile. Or if I have been requested to force someone off of a machine; that would need to happen quickly.
Removed Previously Installed Software
Ability to Remove software that is already on a machine. Say, for example, that I inherit a poorly managed LAN that I am to remotely manage. I need a way to get in and remove unapproved, or malicious software. I should be able to browse the Add/Remove Programs list on the remote machine and uninstall those applications. -- Or at least see the software so I could create pushes to pragmatically remove the software.
Add location to computer details
A spot is needed on the computer details screen that would allow you to put the location of the computer. Preferably allow you to put department and the user assigned to the computer if there is one. Similar to the asset tracking in service desk plus
Improved Remote Shutdown Tool
Enable granular scheduled shutdowns. The WOL util allows scheduled jobs to run, why not shutdowns for security and configuration deployments? Would be valuable to select specific OU's and child OU's in Active Directory as well.
Desktop Central Inventory
I would like to see the following features added to the Desktop Central Inventory report: 1) With each computer name the current user logged account should be displayed as well. 2) To be able obtain a complete report for all listed computers including hardware and software features, instead of just for one computer.
some integration with SDP
allow Desktop Central to be tied to Service Desk Plus. instead of having two software databases and PC/server/asset inventory DB's use one where updates are reflected in both apps. Both DB's don't display the same info. etc. there are other areas where they could integrate. For instance if you deploy an Enterprise app via Desktop Central Deployment utility maybe SDP could declinate an available license or record where its installed.
