Accessing the portal from anywhere?
Hi, I recently downloaded the trial of desktop central and everything has been working wonderful. Is there a way to access the administrator portal when i'm off the LAN? Right now, the only way I can access the portal is by logging into the localhost:8020. I want to be able to access this from anywhere and be able to remote control desktops in my environment from any location with internet access. Thanks.

Hi, we are looking at ManageEngine to replace our Quest KACE Appliance primariyl for asset management but im already running into an issue. In KACE, we can manually assign devices to users, and that list is populated from our AD User import. In Desktop Central, I can only see how to assign a device to a user by manually typing into the "Owner" field. Is it possible to manually assign users from a dropdown with info fed from AD imports?
Multiple Updates being pushed, not installing (KB4493448, KB4493472 32b, KB4493472 64b)
We have 3 updates this month that have been replicated to all the distribution servers. Disk usage display for Linux
At the moment the disk usage pie chart displayed for Linux hosts isn't very useful if you're using LVM, as it just displays 100% used of an aggregate of all the devices - e.g. I have a new, unused desktop that has 1TB / 8TB /data 256Gb /scratch and the inventory page will display 9.3 TB at 100% usage. A useful output would to instead list the output of "df -h" excluding items matching udev, tempfs, /dev/loop - so for me this would be /dev/mapper/ubuntu--vg-root 915G
Desktop Central OS Deployment - Incorrect username/password after update
We updated Desktop Central to 10.0.366 over the week and now the OS deployment tool doesn't work. I have updated our bootable media but when we try to deploy image it does not work and I get either an Invalid Username/Password or The specified network password is not correct depending on how I try to deploy the image. I've tried via username/password, via PIN and via MAC address? ANy help greatly appreciated. Mike
Old configuration being reapplied automatically
Hello, Lets say that I have a computer name PCA to which I have pushed a configuration (software deployment). This pc is a VM and I have taken a snapshot of it just after I installed the desktop central agent. I decide to revert to my snapshot. Then when the pc is available, desktop central seems to push back the configuration i pushed earlier automatically. Is this normal behavior ? Thanks. Marco
Add Custom Fields/Edit Existing Fields to Hardware
Some hardware needs to be tracked by serial number which is not being detected with the scan. Would like to be able to manually add that information if needed. For example on a graphics adapter. Using build 10.0.329 and do not see this function available.
Custom report for Bitlocker Encryption status?
I'd like to have a custom report to find the encryption status of multiple computers. Under the security tab on Inventory --> Computers, I can see the information, but I can not find the option to run it on a report. Assistance with a query would be greatly appreciated!
Hp Warranty not working
As of last week I can no longer retrieve the warranty details of HP computers. When I try to scan one i get a message saying warranty details cannot be fetched because either the website is currently unavailable or the computer is not connected to the internet. kindly try after sometime. I know for a fact that the computer is connected to the internet. Is there an issue with the site used to get this data?
Desktop Cental - Duplicated Computers
We've got computers in Desktop Central that are duplicated. When we've re-imaged the machine we've changed the computer name, which I guess is what's led to the duplication. Is there anyway to identify all of the duplicated service tag codes and then remove the ones that haven't recently connected. Also, on the subject is there any way to prevent the duplications, or is it just a manual task of removing them.

Warranty scan feature for warranty - Fujitsu??
Hi Guys, We have a mix of Dell & Fujitsu laptops/Desktops in our organisation, mainly Fujitsu. Our Dell Service Tag/Serial Number picks up Warranty expiry date with a link to the update p[age which is great. The 1200 Fujitsu machines we possess show the Serial number but no Warranty Expiry date or link to the update page??? Is this something Desktop Central can fix or is it a Fujitsu issue? I really don't fancy manually searching for warranty information & filling in the custom data section so wondered

DC Version and update information
Hi all, I'm after some clarity if possible in regards to DC and how it manages updates/notifications about updates in regards to itself. I'm currently running Build Version:10.0.345 and there has been some times when DC has updated itself with a hotfix or upgrade and then other times when it has notified across the top that a new build is available. I was going through some reports this morning and noticed a workgroup that I hadn't noticed before. Problem is that the SoM doesn't show who created or when it was created. Is there a way to get this information?

Win 10 In place upgrade
Hi all, I would like to use desktop central to manage computers in our esports venue. Right now we only have 21 PC's but we will be upgrading eventually. I would like to be able to "refresh" windows on the machines without losing installed programs etc. Would I be able to use the OS deployment to do the in place upgrade or is that beyond it's limitations. All the computers have the same hardware if that helps with any answers. Cheers for any suggestions or help!

Is there any chance that Desktop Central can provide reports that show network monitoring / alerts or any other data that shows whether a VM user is actively working on their VM?
KB4489886 - Not installing Windows 10 1709 March Update
The above update is failing on all test machines. According to Microsoft, this patch has now been superseded by KB4489890. However, this new patch doesn't seem available for download. It's not listed anywhere within the Patch Mgmt. system. Is this still being tested on your end before releasing?
Add Uninstall option to Software Deployment package Actions
At the moment when you have a package for an application, you have an "Actions" dropdown button in the top right of the screen which gives options of: Modify, Save As, Delete, Install User, Install Computer. Is it possible to add an action for Uninstall Computer, or Uninstall User? I know i can manually create an uninstall configuration, select the package, and select the computer etc, but it'd be nice to have it there in the actions next to Install. Anyone know if the Actions dropdown can be edited?
Desktop Central showing user installed Chrome as incorrect version
On some stations chrome is showing as the incorrect version, or even multiple different versions when only one is installed. This seems to only happen when it's installed by the use (appdata install). - Uninstalls fail from the desktop central interface. - Only the correct version shows in the users appdata folder - Only the correct version shows in the user's registry hive under windows/current version/uninstall Does anyone know where it's getting the information to hold on to these older versions

Hello Team. From Desktop Central, is there the possibility to configure email alerts only for software installations caused by the user? And not for automatic installations caused by the operating system. We want to be notified when a user installs any application. Downloading attachments for technicians does not work using the "File Upload" Custom Fields
Hello Team. In the Desktop Central console v10.0.239 we created a custom field called "File Invoice" of type File Upload. Both Administrators and Desktop Central Technicians can attach files to this custom field successfully. But the download of the attachments only works from the Administrators profile. It does not work for other technical profiles. When we try to download the attached file using a Technician profile, it does not work. The Web page appears in blank. Preserve inventory info but remove PC from patch management
Is there a way to remove a PC from patch management but still retain the inventory information ? The reason for this is we have some PCs no longer on our network but I want to retain the hardware inventory info so we can see at a glance if they are fit for use at a later date, but in patch management they are displaying the fact they have lots of missing patches and this is disguising the true patch management statistics. How long is User History Saved For?
In desktop central, I can see login data for computers by the users name. Question is how long/how far back does the data go? I want to make sure I save at least 365 days worth of user detail, specially when a user logs in/logs out for a desktop for auditing purposes.

How does patching computers with office Microsoft Office 365 ProPlus - en-us work? would computer with this get updated automatically through APD? I have recently installed a computer with office 365 and it is not showing any missing patches. The version I have shows i am running version 1808 build 10730.20264. DC-Server Web console starts on login
Hello, It seems I have a bug since the build 323, although I uncheck the "Start Web Console on Service Startup" on the tray icon of the DC-server, I keep have the web console opening on logon. I see in the registry (HKLM) that the setting is not set when unchecked, and is visible when checked. I updated to build 342 today, no change.
