Add clients based on IP
Hi, I have just recently decided to give Desktop Central a try - but I am already failing in adding at least one client. Maybe I am just doing something fundamentally wrong: - I added the client using the SoM page - using its fully qualified name (note: I am not running MS Active-Directory, my client PCs are not part of a Windows domain - i thus just added their workgroup). The name I am using is the one that can be successfully resolved using my local router (tested with nslookup in a Windows shell)
Windows 10 hardware inventory not working
Hello, I've deployed DC in customer's environment. AD 2016 with couple of Windows 7 and Windows 10 desktops. Deployment went well. Patch inventory works well on both Windows 7 and Windows 10 computers, but hardware inventory does not work on Windows 10. Troubleshooting on Windows 10 computers shows only warning regarding Defender AV. But Defender was disabled in GPO. I have no idea how to make the hardware inventory to work.... Failed to initiate scan task for [some machine]. Scanning Failed
Hi, I have created support ticket #5111680 yesterday, but nobody answered me yet On some clients when I perform an asset scan I get an error Failed to initiate scan task for [some machine]. Scanning Failed . On another machines everything is fine. When I checked invsummarylog - I found this error Data storage error occured while populating asset data. Formerly I had "one" patch deployment schedule working for weekends. Machines which were not reachable, due to being shut down, or mobile workstations, would patch as soon as they were turned on, or connected via VPN, as soon as they connected to our DTC server. That worked well for us for a matter of years. I kept the old deployments until they would have been automatically deleted, before recreating them with the new "enhanced APD. Is there some way to have move than one group for automatic patching
Hye all, I was wondering if there is a way I can have different settings for applying automatic patching to PC's and servers I obviously have to have patchiung happening during the day and a patch failed on my Exchange server and disabled all of the services and kicked everybody out. Therefore I would liek to make sure that patches to taht server are only applied overnight Any ideas please? Thanks
report based on action log viewer
I was wondering if it possible to setup a scheduled report based on the action log viewer filtered by user. Is there any way to get a report or summary based on what technician ME DC user have done? Ie under action log viewer i can filter by user and see a log of all action that user has done in the past 30 days, is it possible to schedule a report based on that?

Which logs should be looked at first?
I am coming from working with Microsoft's SCCM to working with Desktop Central. I've been put in charge of the Patch Management process and revamping it and fixing issues with it. With SCCM, i know which logs i need to look at first to help determine where the troubles may have started and to help get issues resolved more quickly. I was looking in the logs folder and started to go through a few, but like SCCM there are quite a few dozen logs on a machine. Which logs are the most important to look
Which field in hardware related apis can be map as product
I am creating freshservice custom app. In that mapping all asset from desktopcentral to freshservice. There is one mandatory field product while creating asset type hardware. but there no any field available in desktop central api (api/1.0/inventory/hardware) that can map as product. Can you please suggest wich field in harware apis can be mapped as product.

So far I am liking this product as we are moving away from SYSAID. Client scanning
When I run the scan all I only get about 16 of my 132 machines to show a good scan on. Most give me errors now saying path not found. Which is really annoying. I am running 10.0.236 for the software and just put the latest hotfix onto the server.

Hi All, I have a little problem I am attempting to work through. I have about 400 workstations which all have printer mapping script shortcuts in the folder. C:\ProgramData\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\StartUp\ These shortcuts point to a network shared location which is about to change. We have about 40 different scripts in that location and depending on what printers you get that determines which script you point to. Install software to new PC on group
Hello. I configured a template to install software on group of PCs (PC1, PC2, PC3). Template was successfully installed on this group of PCs (PC1, PC2, PC3). But if I'm trying to add a PC4 in this group then a template doesn't install to this PC4. A template needs to be restarted for software to be installed. How to install this template dynamically for ALL PC on this group in condition where this group is changing dynamically?

Sofware Catalogue - users should be able to install everything
Hi, could be very nooby question, but is it possible to set up a software catalogue with software, that users should be allowed to install but not forced to, even if this software requires Administrator privileges? For example Adobe Reader requires Administrator Password for installation. Currently I have Adobe Reader in the Self-Service Portal and can see it on a client machine. But clicking install, I need to enter an account with Admin privileges. So is it correct, that I need to create a deployment

Hello, due to it-policy I wanted to remove MS OneDrive from all workstations. On some workstations DC reports the uninstall failed but when I look at the list of installed software in the control center of windows OneDrive is not listed as installed. How do I remove these false entries from DC? All workstations are fully patched Windows 7 machines.

Bitlocker and Patch Deployment
We recently enabled BitLocker on all of our Windows 10 machines and have noticed that when we deploy patches from Desktop Central we get prompted for a the BitLocker Recovery Key on reboot fairly often. Has any one else had this issue and, if so, how did you resolve it?
Unable to set Mobile device wifi restriction
In Restrictions -> Network and Roaming -> wifi , when I try to set Always Off I get a warning saying "You cannot allow Disabling of Cellular Data and simultaneously keep Wifi Always off, due to a requirement of internet connectivity for server-device communication" Whilst I understand this, there isn't a setting available for ensuring data is Always On. Thought there used to be though? DC ver 10.0.291 Can anyone help? Thanks

I just updated to 10.0.310 and see now that now you can scan HP warranty. Is there a way to automatically have it scan all managed computers for warranty details? Also is there an inventory report based on when the pc warranties are expired? Or report showing all pc's with their warranty data?
Desktop Central Build 10.0.321?
Hi, since last friday there is a message on the dc login page telling that there is a new build 10.0.321 of desktop central. But if I follow the link and navigate to https://www.manageengine.com/products/service-desk/plugin-service-packs.html the latest listed build is 10.0.291. To make it completely strange: When looking into the build information of our dc it says we're running buld 10.0.310. What the heck is going on there??

Group Sync
Probably a stupid question, but when we add a PC to a group that is part of a configuration, how soon will Desktop Central's configuration realize there is a new member in that group to install a package. Example - We packaged Bluebeam 2018; created a configuration to look at a Group with Computer members; we added 2 new PCs to the group today (only 1 was seen by the way); how soon and how does DC know there are changes to the group?
Mac Tray icon and submit ticket window
I'm testing the usage of the desktop central tray icon in regards to working with enabling users to submit their own support tickets and I've noticed that on the mac client when you start typing in the description box the return/enter key does not work as expected. In the windows client it moves to a new line as expected. On the mac client it actually classed that key press as a "submit" button and sends the ticket. So the end user is basically limited to one line of text and this isn't really usable
August Missing patches
All sudden today I see there is a bunch of missing patches shown up form August yet they show superseded yet also show as missing on pc's
