I have just recently decided to give Desktop Central a try - but I am already failing in adding at least one client.
Maybe I am just doing something fundamentally wrong:
- I added the client using the SoM page - using its fully qualified name (note: I am not running MS Active-Directory, my client PCs are not part of a Windows domain - i thus just added their workgroup). The name I am using is the one that can be successfully resolved using my local router (tested with nslookup in a Windows shell)
- nevertheless, Desktop central is telling me, that it cannot resolve the network name.
-> Is there any way to use the IP address to exclude potential other errors?
I assume that Desktop Central is using OS functionality for name resolution - how come it cannot resolve the name that nslookup can??
