desktop central update notification
so i have setup a schedule for my endusers to receive and install the updates. I have split it up into custom groups of 15 or so over the course of the month so everyone doesn't get an update on the same night. I want to send out a calendar reminder for everyone when their update will occur so they can log off and close the various applications that might be updated. Is there a way inside of desktop central for that reminder to pop up so i don't have to send a reminder via outlook? Thanks.
Scope of Management - Different Agent

For example, we have a an agent that is called Local Office, which should be installed to all our computers that are in the OU called LAN, and we also have an agent that we have configured for our mobile computers. Group Exclusion when deployment is targeted to a Group
I want to deploy software via a configuration based on group membership of the target computer. However I want to exclude certain computers if they are also members of another group. For example; Install App1 to all computers in AD group Finance1, but not if those computers are also in group Finance2. I am able to successfully exclude PCs in a group if I install based on the domain or the OU of the computer, but not when install is based on a group. I configure the first group as the target, then

ActiveX Component will not install for non-admin
I've upgraded to Build 80226. I've set all the Internet Explorer ActiveX settings as recommended in your document. The major issue I am having is that a non-admin can not install the ActiveX Component on their computer. Is there a way to deploy this to all users that are using Remote Control?
add sub-domains in desktopCentral

Using Custom Groups defined by OU to deploy patches
It seems as though if I use a static Custom Group made of of OUs, when any member of an OU changes the changes are not reflected in the static group. That's why they are called "static." But when I try and use a Dynamic Group I cannot select its members based upon OU. does it not make sens that I would want to do this? i can see why some would want to deploy based on OS, Service Pack, etc. but I can make a good case for deploying patches based on a Business unit (OU in active directory-speak)

Scan Failing
Romanus I have a problem with a patch scan failing on a server (request ID :##13750366## opened 07/03/13) due to "disk drive serial number not being fetched" apparently. I'm being pushed for a resolution at my end but ManageEngine are saying they do not have a timeframe on the fix. Could you escalate this for me? Thanks JP/

Vulnerability DB Update Failed
Hi Team, I am currently having issues with the vulnerability database on my server (Desktop central MSP 8) not updating. It says that the last successful update was on Feb 13, and it has failed on every attempt since then. This happens both with the scheduled update and a manual update. If I click on the "Failure" link to get more detail, it just says "Failed to Update the Vulnerability DataBase on 2013-03-19 09:00:00". Expried Warranty Report - CSV
I would like to have DC8 send me automated reports with a list of machines whose warranties have expired. Unfortunately when I go to DC8 > Reports > Add Scheduled Report, select Inventory Reports > Expired Warranty and choose to the results e-mailed in CSV format, the report I recieve includes machines that have warranties that have not yet expired. DesktopCentral_Server\Patch
Hi, I'm actually cleaning DesktopCentral (deleting useless/temp files, we are running out of disk space). I found a ManageEngine post that explain which folders/files are delete-able here : http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/removing-unwanted-files-from-dc-how-to.html It works perfectly but I found a "Patch" folder which appears to have something like backups of .ppm and uncompressed .ppm (look attached screenshot). Is this folder cleanable or we should keep it like it is?
How do I force a new automated warrantly look up?
It seems as if DC keeps the original warranty expiration for a PC until I go into the inventory record and click "Scan Now". Is there anyway to force this look up to happen again, say for all PC's? FYI, it doesn't seem to do it during an asset scan.
Uninstall IE 10
Hello, Has anyone been able to script out or otherwise rollback Internet Explorer 10 to the previous version? It seems some of our computers were recently updated before we could block IE 10, and now we need to roll back. I haven't been able to find anything reliable on the web so far. Thanks
Automate patch deployment reboot policy
Hi, We are facing problem in “ManageEngine Desktop Central MSP 8” that during Automate Patch Deployment, Restart Pop-Up is coming very frequently on user’s system (even after restarting whenever asked to restart). Current reboot policy is “Allow user to skip Reboot”. We need to find an option to deploy all missing patches in one shot and need only one reboot after the FINAL patch deployment. host is unreachable
I'm using the free admin tools and whenever i use the Shutdown/restart or GPO update tool i get the message Status: Failed and Remarks: Host is not reachable. The workstation is running windows 7 enterprise 32 bit with SP 1 and the server is 2008 R2 Enterprise 64 BIT. The tools worked when the workstation was XP PRO, but now the tools wont work on the station, even thought the workstation sees the server and the tools see the workstation. Any feedback will be great.
Java 7 U17 32 bit JRE seems to be missing from DC
The JDK is in there, as is the 64 bit JRE, but the 32 bit JRE is not there.
Linux agent?
It seems that there is no Linux support for Desktop Central. We need to be able to inventory our linux workstations as well. Is this feature planned? Could it be implemented?

Security update bulletin ID's always start the same way, but I've notice a lot of them still appear as unrated. Is there any way to adjust this?

Required firewall ports
Hello, I am attempting to bring into management a certain subnet in our office so that we can start scanning and re-mediating servers. This subnet is behind and internal firewall managed by our security team. I need to provide them a list of ports which need to be open, both ways, between the subnet the Desktop Central server is on and the subnet needing to be managed. Deploying Software automatically via Group
Hi there, Hoping for a bit of advice here; We're wanting to setup Desktop Central to Automatically push software (for example Office) to user's machines, as soon as the PC is added to the group. Does anyone have any idea how to do? Without needing to hit deploy everytime we add a machine (Thus trying to install over machines which may already have it!) Any assistance would be great. Dave
License Management configuration disappearing
I am working through the process of configuring the License Management section of DC8 (Inventory > Manage Licenses). I have successfully set up a number of software groups and then configured licences using those groups. My problem is that when I edit any of my software groups by adding a new software version and marking it as the 'major version', any licenses that were previously associated with that group disappear. The only fix seems to be creating a new license from scratch and re-configure everything.

We need to send remote users the link to install the Desktop Central agent. However we'd like to send them the installation file and have it install silently, without prompting them to click next. Is this possible with the agent?
Configure Alerts
I would like to modify the alerts DC8 sends when a computer has not been in contact for more than 60 days. When I go to Admin > Scope of Management > Configure, change the subject line and click 'save' I am presented with a window that says 'Alert: Successfully Updated'. However, when I then go back into that same Alert, the changes I have made to the subject line are no longer there. Is this a bug?

Roaming Profiles Favorites Redirection
Hello, We are currently getting rid of roaming profiles at my company. We are going to use desktop central for this task. I am able to map my drives and printers with no issues but I am having problems redirecting my favorites. Basically I want to take the roaming profile path from AD and get rid of it and from there have desktop central redirect their favorites in their profile folder to the machines they move around in. How to change port used by agent?

Automatic Warranty Scan for HP Computers
Automatic Warranty Scan does not occur for my HP computers. I have 844 HP computers. All of these computers are correctly picking up the Service Tag during scans. I have used the "Feed Custom Data for Computers" tool to perform a bulk update and added the Product Number for these computers.
