keep PC for updates
So except for telling the PC to never sleep by pushing out a GPO is there a way in Desktop Central to wake a PC if it is not awake to be scanned and install updates? I would think this would be great then as soon as it is done it puts the PC back to sleep.
command line arguments via agent ? Where can I find administrative documentation for the installed clients ?
Hello, I was working a few years with ZENworks and are exploring DC right now. What I haven’t found yet is how I would trigger updates from the installed agent on our client computers. I guess my question would be where I can find the documentation for such command line arguments. Especially while testing I am missing things like updatenow / refresh, but getting a full document would be helpful to keep in mind what all is possible. Where can I find such administrative documentation Thanks, Markus

Software deployment for Remote Office has stopped deploying a "standard" package
We are running - Desktop Central Server 8.0.2.26 We have a configuration to push the Teamviewer software for a specific "setup" Remote Office. Up until yesterday, this software deployment configuration had been deploying Teamviewer to each and every PC that had DC Agent installed to it. It also would deploy Teamviewer if we moved a PC to the Remote Office. Yesterday, we installed DC on 6 PCs but none of them received Teamviewer and they were powered up all night. We ran a manual patch scan
Add archive option to configurations
Dear Support, In list of configurations, would it be possible to add an "archive" option? Currently there is "global view" and "my view" - it would be good to have an option to archive them, and then only show what you want to mark as "live configurations". "Archiving" a configuration would have the effect of hiding it from the general global or my view, and have a separate option to view archived configurations. Still retain the ability to copy an archived config to live as a new configuration.

Remove pre-loaded software using Desktop Central
Hi for some reason couldn't find Desktop Central in the list of available forums to post this in so posting in the ServiceDesk Plus one! Is there an easy way to remove pre-loaded software using Desktop Central? for example the Lenovo laptops ship with some Lenovo tools on that we do not want, I know we could use OSDeployer to install an OS excluding all this software but my line manager won't allow me to spend money on that so want to get it working with my existing Desktop Central. Deploy software based on current installations
I want to create target collections based on software. or example, if i want to update java for everyone that has an old version, I can go to inventory > software and search java, but i can't create a collection of PC's based on that. All I can do is export the number of systems that have it. I can click on the individual software then get a list of computer names and export that. However in my case we have about 16 different versions of java out there and this method will take a while. Is there
DesktopCentral and MySQL integration
Hello, I downloaded the trial version of DesktopCentral 8 in order to try it as a management & support solution in our company. I found it very good, but there is one problem that I can not solve - use MySQL database instead of the default Postgres. My plan is to install the database at the same machine as the DC server. I installed MySQL on the test machine and opened a new database named 'desktopcentral'. I used the batch script named ChangeDbServer to change the DB but when I press test it said
Self Enrollment for MDM
When is it projected for there to be the option of self enrollment? We are wanting to utilize the MDM portion of Desktop Central in our NAC deployment but without the ability for the user to self enroll it is difficult to do so.
Custom Report to Show Inventory based on AD OU?
We keep all the systems we have in inventory in an OU in AD called "Inventory" These systems all have DC Agent installed already for preliminary staging so they are cataloged in DC already. What I want to do is be able to pull a report in DC that will show me all the machines we have in the Inventory OU along with details such as model, warranty information, etc. I see in the active directory reports that I can view computers by OU, but that doesn't give me the option to incorporate all the granular

Quick-launch box not going
Hi, I have noticed when connecting to another machine using the remote control facility that the quick-launch box takes a long time to remove once you disconnect the session, in some cases it can stay on the screen for a number of hours. My first question is this, does the quick-launch box retain administrator rights even though I have already disconnected, thus enabling the user to perform function for which we do not allow them. Second question, can its removal on disconnection be performed more
User Profile Specific Software installs (Chrome, Dropbox, etc)
According to this post, it was expected to have User specific software (software that installs into the user's profile rather than other common locations like Program Files) would be available in software inventory by Q1 2013. This is becoming an increasing issue for us, especially with Dropbox. Is there an update to the status of this critical feature?

Help with configuring Prohibited software
Hi, Can someone offer some assistants configuring Prohibited software section in Desktop Central? It seems it really doesn't do to much... I've listed a number of programs that I don't want on my network, but users are still able to install them without problem. For a test, I added a program called "PDFKey" to the Prohibited list. It correctly detected it on machine. I then went ahead and installed it onto another machine. It showed up in the in the inventory, but the user did not get a warning
'Continue Installation if the exit code is...' not working?
So I have an MSI file that I'd like to install only if a particular file/folder does not exist on the workstation. I have created a batch file that says the following: if not exist "C:\Program Files\Program X" set errorlevel=1 EXIT /B %ERRORLEVEL% I have verified that this script is working and exiting with the correct error level based on the existence of the program directory. In DC, I set my install configuration to run the batch file and checked the checkbox for 'Continue the installation
Detecting existing software before install
Hey guys, Sorry if this is a newbie question, but I've just started to test my first few packages to my company via. desktop central. I'm just testing a few simple small MSIs (eg. Citrix client). It seems as though that if the software already exists (installed from the exact same .MSI) on the workstation, DC tries to re-install it again regardless. Since .MSI's can detect if it's already installed - is this not communicated to DC somehow? In other words, if I create a configuration to install

No Reboot
Hi, Would it be possible to have an extra option in the patch management, it would be "do not reboot and do not prompt". I sometimes have to manually apply patches to machines and many of our users get frustrated when the get the prompt to restart their machine, especially when in the middle of work which can not be postponed. Although the option to not reboot the machine is selected, the prompt to restart the machine is displayed, an option which stopped the prompt from being displayed would be
desktop central update notification
so i have setup a schedule for my endusers to receive and install the updates. I have split it up into custom groups of 15 or so over the course of the month so everyone doesn't get an update on the same night. I want to send out a calendar reminder for everyone when their update will occur so they can log off and close the various applications that might be updated. Is there a way inside of desktop central for that reminder to pop up so i don't have to send a reminder via outlook? Thanks.
Scope of Management - Different Agent
Hello, Is it possible to install different agents in Scope of Management based on OU? For example, we have a an agent that is called Local Office, which should be installed to all our computers that are in the OU called LAN, and we also have an agent that we have configured for our mobile computers. I would like this to automatically install on computers that are in our 'Mobile' OU
Group Exclusion when deployment is targeted to a Group
I want to deploy software via a configuration based on group membership of the target computer. However I want to exclude certain computers if they are also members of another group. For example; Install App1 to all computers in AD group Finance1, but not if those computers are also in group Finance2. I am able to successfully exclude PCs in a group if I install based on the domain or the OU of the computer, but not when install is based on a group. I configure the first group as the target, then

ActiveX Component will not install for non-admin
I've upgraded to Build 80226. I've set all the Internet Explorer ActiveX settings as recommended in your document. The major issue I am having is that a non-admin can not install the ActiveX Component on their computer. Is there a way to deploy this to all users that are using Remote Control?

Hi, I have 2 sub domains in my domain but they are in different location. Do i Have to add these sub domain as a Remote Office or I can add them as Computers in local office and how? I will appreciate if you guide me in this situation Best Regards
Using Custom Groups defined by OU to deploy patches
It seems as though if I use a static Custom Group made of of OUs, when any member of an OU changes the changes are not reflected in the static group. That's why they are called "static." But when I try and use a Dynamic Group I cannot select its members based upon OU. does it not make sens that I would want to do this? i can see why some would want to deploy based on OS, Service Pack, etc. but I can make a good case for deploying patches based on a Business unit (OU in active directory-speak)
wusa.exe package failure, IE 10 Uninstall
Ok, first off I am making a new post because because I don't want to trample on (https://forums.manageengine.com/#Topic/49000006039766) post with my noob questions. I tried to follow but I am still completely lost after 4 days of trying. I will post screenshots of various attempts at building a package to remove IE10 on a windows 7. Please tell me where I am going wrong, I have also gone to http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/help/software_installation/windows_software_installation.html and
Scan Failing
Romanus I have a problem with a patch scan failing on a server (request ID :##13750366## opened 07/03/13) due to "disk drive serial number not being fetched" apparently. I'm being pushed for a resolution at my end but ManageEngine are saying they do not have a timeframe on the fix. Could you escalate this for me? Thanks JP/

Vulnerability DB Update Failed
Hi Team, I am currently having issues with the vulnerability database on my server (Desktop central MSP 8) not updating. It says that the last successful update was on Feb 13, and it has failed on every attempt since then. This happens both with the scheduled update and a manual update. If I click on the "Failure" link to get more detail, it just says "Failed to Update the Vulnerability DataBase on 2013-03-19 09:00:00". I have uploaded the "Patchdownloadlog" from server for your reference at below
Expried Warranty Report - CSV
I would like to have DC8 send me automated reports with a list of machines whose warranties have expired. Unfortunately when I go to DC8 > Reports > Add Scheduled Report, select Inventory Reports > Expired Warranty and choose to the results e-mailed in CSV format, the report I recieve includes machines that have warranties that have not yet expired. If I run the same report within DC8 > Reports > Inventory Reports > Expired Warranty, the results are correct. I have tested this many times and can
DesktopCentral_Server\Patch
Hi, I'm actually cleaning DesktopCentral (deleting useless/temp files, we are running out of disk space). I found a ManageEngine post that explain which folders/files are delete-able here : http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/removing-unwanted-files-from-dc-how-to.html It works perfectly but I found a "Patch" folder which appears to have something like backups of .ppm and uncompressed .ppm (look attached screenshot). Is this folder cleanable or we should keep it like it is?
