Use Desktop Central in less than ideal small network
Hi, I have a small company network and am looking for software to help manage it and our remote offices. We tried Spiceworks, we've had at least two previous trials of Desktop Central and now it's my turn. I really like the product but I'm having the very devil of a time getting it to work under our circumstances. Here's are the challenges, I would like someone to tell me if any of them are showstoppers so I don't waste any more time: We don't have AD in the office. We do have people signing in

Morning! We are trying to configure automatically the phone extension for our dialer software, getting the extension number from our intranet, and creating a .reg file with the user data and the extension data. We created a collection with the "custom script" for .bat file, and then the "registry" option to import the .reg file, using a local path with a manageengine variable, that looks like this: "\users\$domainusername\uagentsettings.reg" The .bat file works, it creates the file on the c:\users\nameoftheuser\uagentsettings.reg.

Delete user admin
sorry, When I try to delete a user, I deleted the user admin. It was a screen refresh problem. I push to delete de user, but it did not work... I try again, and delete two users... ( user and admin ). I recreate again the user admin, but the user was created without administrator privileges .. I have opened ticket in suport but I need to fix it urgently because i need to create two new users... Can yo help me ?? thanks in advance.
Windows 10 creators update & Agent problem
Hi, I compared to this problem today. When i update my system to Windows 10 Creators. My Agent is disable. Then, i looked Windows Control Panel, i saw "agent downloeded pc". But, this is not run. This PC is see RED (Disable&close) in Desktop Center Manager. I try another computers about this problem. Same problem about it. Is there a mismatch about Agent (Windows 10 Creators Update).? Uninstall Patches?
I'm planning on setting up automatic patch deployment, but I'd like to have to ability to roll back or uninstall a patch across the board if it is causing problems. There doesn't seem to be an "uninstall" option when looking at installed patches. Is there a way to do this?
Add Custom data for computers - export facility as well as import?
HI DC Admins, Is there an option to export custom data for "Adding custom data for computers" to CSV within the Admin / Inventory menu? Ive seen the import ability which i have used but my problem is now that i have inherited another 1000 users and want to export my original list, add the new users in this format & then re import? Scheduled Wallpaper change
I have manage engine service desk and desktop central. I know how to create a policy to change a selected groups wallpaper to a specific jpg. I need to do this on a schedule. (every 4 hours). We're using a jpg as a dashboard and need to put it on a groups desktop as the wallpaper. How can I do this from either of the platforms mentioned above? Is it possible? Security Rollups in Desktop Central - cumulative or not?
Hi, According to Microsoft, Quality Rollups are cumulative, but Security Rollups are not. In Desktop Central, however, when I go to approve older rollups in order to catch up, they are greyed out and a tooltip advises that the update is disabled because it has been superseded. Does this mean that Desktop Central security rollups are cumulative after all? Thanks.

Hi, my understanding is that during software deployments if run normally (without deploy immediately) will run when the policy window is available, the schedule window is availabe and the target is online. I believe when the target agent checks back to the core server on the 90 minute cycle, if the target is part of a configuration, at that point it will retrieve the XML configuration file and start the deployment. Execute .bat before installing software
I have a specific software that does not run from a shared folder. I have to copy it locally, and then execute the installer from the local folder. I am trying with a simple bat as a pre-deployment task, but is failing with the error "Failed! : Incorrect function.". I've read a bit on other posts, and it seems I cannot run a bat on a computer configuration, has to be on a user configuration. This patch, 22492 (2017-05 Security Monthly Quality Rollup Update includes WannaCrypt Fix(MS17-010) and May Month Quality Rollup for Windows 7 for x64-based Systems (KB4019264)), keeps trying to install on a large number of my Windos 7 systems. Generate report with telephone field
Hello. I need to generate a report using Desktop Central that includes the "telephone" field in AD. I am using build version 10.0.83, and I can click on the Reports tab > User Reports > Active User Accounts and see a report of all users. However, when I try to customize the fields, all the phone-related fields are available EXCEPT the "telephone" field, which is where we populate most of our phone numbers. Is there a way to get that information on a report?

I need some help with configuration settings for my Desktop Central agent and hoping someone here can help me out. I have a mixed environment in which we have a central office where users would be local to the DC server, for these users the Local office agent would be best. However, the majority of the staff works as consultants at other company's office buildings. Manage work from home users
I'm trying to figure out if Dekstop Central is a suitable solution for managing and providing support for users that work from home. What I most want to know is how to get the agent on a users computer if they are not on our network. I see there's options for remote office, but I don't know if this is what I'm looking for, since every user is on a different network, and not in one centralized off-site location. So what's the best way to install the agent on a computer outside of the office network?
Hostname in report URL for scheduled email reports
When receiving scheduled email reports established in desktop central with "Publish reports on the Desktop Central server and send the URL" selected, the link to the report within the email begins with the server's IP as opposed to the FQDN. As we are currently utilizing https with SSL certificates, this causes a certificate error when trying to access desktop central through the provided link. Is there a way to replace the IP in the generated report URL with the the FQDN of the server?
Desktop Central patch filters
Good Morning, Filters seemed to have stopped working in our Desktop Central instance after upgrading. Before, we could filter out patches based on OS and application, but now, those filters don't seem to work. The filters for "release Date" seem to work. If I set up a filter for updates on Server 2012 R2, I will receive updates for all Windows Operating systems. The same happens with applications like .Net updates. Anyone else having this issue?
