best practices for Patching Windows Servers on a schedule using the new APD features
So i am trying to figure out what changes have been made to APD since .192 and how that effects my managed devices. My struggle here is we do not patch in mass. Instead we have a specific schedule for each device which has been arranged and agreed upon by Operations and the applicaiton owner. Schedule looks like this. Custom group A patches from midnight to 6 Am on Patch Tue +7 Days. Custom Group B patches at Midnight to 6AM on Patch Tue +12 Days typicly what i have done is on the monday before
How is every one else utilizing the new APD policies?
My requirements isnt that we patch on just a certain day of the week like a Saturday but it be a specific Saturday. Think of it Patch Tue + 11. With the new option of deploy patches X amount of days past approval i thought i would be able to achieve this by the below config Job is set to deploy patches 9 days after approval. Below is the deployment settings. Since timing of Weeks is based on the 1st of the month I have no way to predict via automation which week the Patch Tue +11 is going to fall

Hello, I would like to ask when creating automatic updates deployment and I choose deployment hours or pick predefined deployment policy, is it executed regarding desktop central server time, or it is executed according to the desktop/laptops local time zone and clock? How to change O365 Update Channel via deployment
Hello all I am trying to run a Custom computer script to change the update channel on Office 365. Desktop Central Automatically Moving Configuration to Trash
An automated task is running at 5AM resulting in configurations being deleted by "DC-System-User" This is undesired, as these configurations are targeted to AD groups, which deploy software and/or configurations dynamically as objects are added to those groups in AD. These configurations need to remain active, and currently I have to check the trash to find what else got deleted today, then save it as new since there is no option to undelete from trash.

Deploy Trillian
I have been Trying to deploy Trillian from the premade template and it does not work. First before even deploying it asked for the uninstall switch. Then after contacting support, they gave me the switches but that still did not allow me to deploy the software. When I deploy this I get the system can not find file specified error. Again I have contacted support with this but all they told me based on the logs was the software was not installed which I knew it was not since my goal is installing.

Patch Clean up for old patches
I have my patch cleanup to remove old patches that not missing. But the issue with this is I have some servers that show missing patches but we are not patching these pc's. But since it shows patches missing these missing patches seem to not get removed from the patch store. Before I migrated to the new APD I would have it so my servers would not scan as they were set to be excluded from the APD. But now that scan is happening automatically these servers are getting scanned for missing patches.

Hello, Last weekend I saw that DC was nicely updated with all the latest April patches and I decided to wait until today to apply them. How can I turn off the popup notifications on the client desktop machine?
I am test driving the Desktop Central system on a couple of machines, and i note that the popup notification comes up a great deal. How can I turn this off?
Is there a way to stop automatic updates for particular machines?
We have a few wallboards that a cell centre use for statistics. However, when the ManageEngine popups come up, asking to restart for updates, it blocks an important part of the wallboard. Is there a way to install updates say once a fortnight, or stop the popup altogether for these particular wallboards? We would like to avoid placing these machines into a separate OU and applying different update schedules to that OU.

Hello, I have been using use Desktop Central on a Windows 2012 R2 server that is also using WSUS, MDT and especially WDS - for allowing my Windows 10 client machines to do OS upgrades and to allow new computers to use PXE boot to get the latest Windows 10 image for use. I have not had to use WDS for several months as all machines are solid on Windows 1709. Hi, I am currently in trial of Desktop Central and a key acheivment of the solution should we buy it is managing local files on devices. I have setup File Scan Schedule, but it never appears to populate with files. Can you advise if there are soecific ports on PC / Desktop Central server that need to be open specifically for File Scan? Thanks Jason

New APD patch approval process
So i see we have some newer patch approval processes where you have test groups where you approve patches that have been tested in lower environments. So what happens when a patch is only required in prod? Say there is a third party patch that is only available in prod? Do those just not get approved? We have a largish number of configs so its not unforseable that a patch would not actually be in our dev environment. Most will but its not 1 to 1. So how do we deal with that scenario?

What is the change? Desktop Central's patch management has released a new schema to support various features for Windows, Mac & Linux patch management. What will be the impact? If you are running Desktop Central version older than 100108, you will not be able to synchronise the latest patch updates. What should I do? Upgrade to the latest build on or before 9th May 2018, to continue using patch management.

Why does the distribution server replicate the same configuration every time?
I have a template setup with about 5 different software that I need to deploy to a new computer. Most the time it is to just one pc then later I might have to deploy to another. I noticed that every time I go to redeploy the template that it has to replicate all the software to the distribution server even though that DS already has the software stored in its repository. Is there a better way to redeploy a template so that it won't have to replicate every software in the configuration every time?
