jboss on HP-UX
I'm having problems monitoring jboss on one of my HP-UX machines. The machine has two interfaces, an internal network interface and an internet interface. When I try to add a monitor for jboss (port 8080, version 3.2.x) on the internal interface, App Manager thinks for a minute or two and comes back with an error saying "Unable to add the Interface for IP Address x.x.x.x. Kindly check whether the machine has dual interface. If it has dual interface try adding with another IP address ". The same thing
Results differ greatly from that shown by TOP command
After starting an Application Manager on server A, I created a service monitor which monitored the Apache service on server B and polled every one minute. It seems ok when the Apache is in no load. Then I continuously run a shell script which executes "ab -n 5000 -c 1000 http://***:80/" continuously , the service monitor shows the CPU utilization on service B is below 5% all the time, while it keeps above 90% shown by the TOP command. Could anyone explain it? Is there something wrong with my operation?
A very minor flaw under Support tab
Hi, I've encountered a minor flaw in support tab where application managers displays product information and 2 monitors (System & DB) which are initially configured by AM at first startup. If I remove one of these monitor manually, MySQL DB monitor for example, the graph of DB info in support tab will be blank (this makes sense because the monitor has been removed), however, the "Alert Configuration" is still available for click under this blank graph. If you click on this link, an exception will

jboss monitoring and security
My understanding of the jboss monitoring component is that you use the http invoker service to obtain mbean information. Our jboss servers have tomcat running on port 80 and we have to run the invoker servlet on this port too. Does this not present a security problem? Is there a better way to do this or am I missing something? I can switch on authentication for the servlet but then I can't see where I would add the information in application manager. How are people dealing with this issue? thank

After adding monitor for SLES 9 no new polling occuring
I'm having trouble monitoring some SLES 9 machines. After I add the machines to the manager, they never get polled again for new information. They have good response time and availability is reported as 'Up', but the health never changes because it can't get any new information. I've double checked my snmp configuration and things look like they are in order there.

Application Manager stops monitoring
Last week Applications Manager stops monitoring of all items. Normally there are this picture what shows "Today's Availability" but last week there were just "There is no data available at this moment.". This was in all kind of monitors. Appmanager didn't inform me anything about it couldn't collect data. It just shows green light. After restart of Application Manager it works now. I didn't find anything odd from logs than this WARN 23 Jun 11:06 [com.sshtools.j2ssh.transport.HostKeyVerification]
Adding systems with the seed.file
I've specified systems to be added in the seed.file using the DISCOVER_IP mechanism like so: </TO_DISCOVERIP> <ip NODE_ID="172.30.40.28" NETMASK="255.255.255.0" DISCOVER_PARENTNET="false" COMMUNITY="community"/> </TO_DISCOVERIP> The systems are being discovered but the SNMP community string being used for all systems is "public", rather that the COMMUNITY string I specified in the seed file. All the systems then end up as "Unknown". (This technique works fine in OpManager).
Monitoring a cluster
Hi I used Applications Manager for my diploma work, I built a MySQL-Cluster and a JBoss-Cluster. The MySQL-Cluster (or JBoss-Cluster) is unavailable if both instances are down, how can I configure that in one monitor group (I could make a monitor group for each cluster, then it would be useful to group both monitor group into a parent monitor group). Do I something wrong or does the Applications Manager not support clustering? Cheers Andy

URL Monitoring
I am investigating the use of the url monitoring capability within Applications Manager to assess the health of a number of web sites. When checking for specific html content, I keep receiving the failure The String ..... did not appear in the response. If I open the page in a browser the string is contained. Monitoring the address without the string test shows the site as up. Does anybody know of a way within the Applications Manager of reviewing what it believes has been returned? FYI I have checked

Send traps failing
When an alert sends out a trap, the trap is failing with a "Cannot set agent address in trap. java.net.UnknownHostException: AppManager: AppManager". The traps have the destination host set to localhost (Sending to the trap receiver on OpManager).

Is there any way to receive traps on Applications Manager 6? I noticed that you can get values from snmp agent but wouldn't noticed that Applications Manager could receive traps. If it can receive traps please guide me how to do it. Thanks.
Appmanger Windows User name field
The username field in the windows system monitor keeps truncating my username. "SERVERNAME\USERNAME" becomes "SERVERNAME\USERNA" The box is in a domain but uses a local account for monitoring so I need to specify the host to authenticate against. Also, its a bit annoying when you re-edit a monitor that was set to WMI and then it defaults back to SNMP during the edit. Any way to fix this? -H
reports - any way to produce them on a schedule or save them
I think the app manager is fairly feature rich in terms of monitoring. however I can't seem to find a way to 'save' reports, or automatically generate them. Is there *any* plan for a "save as pdf" or scheduler for reports? Also, will there be any feature to limit application groupings to specific users? e.g., user A can see status for application A, while user B only see's B's monitors? thanks brian
