using internal RIS-Server for MS updates instead the normal download server
Hallo, I m using DC 9 now for some weeks. Great tool and makes my admin-live easier. My question: We habe a central managed Windows RIS Server. Is there a way to use this source for updates instead of the Microsoft-Server? Ralf
Firefox ESR 38
We want to stay on Firefox ESR 38 because of some software that we are using. Now that ESR 45 has been released the systems with ESR 38 show they are missing ESR 45 instead of showing they are missing the most recent ESR 38 update. We changed ESR 45 to Not Approved and now the systems with ESR 38 show they are not missing any patches even though there is an update for ESR 38. Is there a way to get them to show that they are missing an update even though it's listed as superseded? I don't think

Patches needed but not showing in Desktop Central
I have a server(s) that report in Desktop Central that they need only 3 updates. When I check if the machine needs update locally (Windows Update) the server needs 21 update. I have updated the Patch DB everyday and reran the patch scan on the server. Still nothing changes. The updates that are needed are a week old. I search for a few of the missing updates in Desktop Central "All Patches", example 3098785 and 3134222, and they are not listed in "All Patches" Please advise
All Patches view: How to save filter criteria?
We use DC to deploy only third-party patches (Java, Adobe Reader, Adobe Flash and Mozilla Firefox) - we use WSUS to deploy MS patches. So I don't need to see all available patches in Patch Mgmt / All Patches view. So, I use a filter "patch type" equal "third party update". Some DC versions ago DC remembered such a filter when I go back to the All Patches view. But now, I have to set the filter again and again when I use the All Patches view. So my question is, does anyone know how to persistently
Machines are not being patched
Several issues here and we are at a loss of why this is happening. So, automated patch manager is not pushing windows patches (but 3rd party seems to work). According to the reports, the scanned machines have no windows patches needed, but on the machines themselves they are showing 30+ patches that need to be installed. Event after two weeks of the patch manager running nightly, the same machines are still not being patched. * Machines are on during patch time * Machines are part of the target list
Baseline Patch Configs
Can anyone suggest a recommended method to create a Baseline Patch Configuration. My purpose is that it would be catchall for all approved patches that are production environment approved. It is a task that I would want to run on newly imaged PCs as well as something that is run weekly on all corporate workstations to ensure they are patched up to date. Any advice would be great. Thanks
Install hotfix by DC
I need to install a hotfix, KB968730 and is not in Desktop Central. I can manually add and then distribute it ??
Where do Draft Tasks Appear?
I have an automatic patch group called "Servers Manual Update". My intention is to have all systems in this group to scan, download, and then wait until I take an action to start installing patches. I have some test machines in this group now, and it looks like everything worked as scheduled. I clicked on the link to start deployment expecting to select which machines to deploy, but instead it just said the deployment has been initiated. I understand it says "Yet to Apply" because I have the deployment
Deployment timing
Probably a silly question but i just want to make sure my thinking is correct. In my deployment config below i have the patch job set to deploy at midnight on Sat and end at 5:59AM. My DTC server is EST. My Client Machine is PST. This is a three hour difference between them. So assuming the box checks in at 12:01 EST (9:01 PST). That means it wont actually start deploying its package until 3:01 EST (12:01 Local PST), since its West coast. This means that It would continue to deploy until 8:59
Domain is blank for Opera Mac Patches
Yesterday, DTC started reporting that it could not reach all domains for patch downloads. The connection test shows only 1 domain failing for Opera Mac patches, and the domain is blank. See attached screenshot.
Unable to deploy IE11 patch (KB3124275)
I am currently trying to deploy the patch update (KB3124275) through desktop central and for whatever reason I cannot get it to deploy on any computer. I have tried manually installing the update which works absolutely fine. When trying to deploy the update it states is "Not Applicable" when I know for a fact that it should be applicable as I have tested manually. Anyone run into this issue before? I triple checked that the update I downloaded is exactly the same update (x64) that I used to
Issue Automating Deployments on "First" Day of Month
Hello We are have real problem when trying to schedule a job on the "First" Day of month. It the scheduler ignores the first occurrence and selects the next occurrence as the "First" day. See below where I schedule a job to start on the First Friday of April - The date it chooses is the Friday the 8th, rather than the real First Friday the 1st. This is the same if i try the First Sunday.. It will select the 10th rather than the 3rd of April. This causes us a very real problem, as we are trying to

Hi, In Desktop central when I go to the Patch Management page and clik on All Patches under Views I get "No Patches are missing on specified Criteria" Patch View as below This is despite the Missing Patches showing 948. URGENT - Time to fix and provide a total Patching solution
In the past I have reported that Desktop Central Patch Management is not doing the job that was presented on the website and by the sales team at Manage Engine. Several times we have reported that the system is NOT fully patching all of the missing patches on our systems. We work diligently to make sure that our systems get fully patched to mitigate vulnerabilities that are present on the systems. Every month, we have to spend additional time validating that all of the patches get applied to our
Unable to update Patch Sync
I have struggled to update the patch sync since installing to try Desktop Central 9 about 12 days ago. We do not have a proxy server but a direct internet connection once authenticated on the domain. I have verified activity is not blocked by our firewall but the connection cannot be made. I have followed the details here https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/patch_management_vulnerability_connection.html When I do a nslookp on the two domains listed they resolve to 117.20.43.137.
Central Patch Repository - Location Change
Dear All, Our central patch repository, which is hosted in our Singapore Data Center, is being moved to our US Data Center. Why? Due to some maintenance problems with US Data Center, we have been hosting it temporarily in Singapore Data Center and we are moving back. We assure you that we will not be changing our Data Center outside USA again. When? The change will happen between 9 PM to 10 PM EST on 4th March, 2016 What is the impact? Issue when Scanning PC's for Patch Management
Hello, I have a new installation of Desktop Central 9 Build Number: 92023. When I attempt to scan computers for Patches I receive "Problem While Generating Patch Scan Data" I have review the article here: https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/patch-management-problem-in-generating-patch-scan-data.html Sadly this did not resolve my issue. OS: Windows Server 2012 R2. I have created a ticket with no response. Ticket number:44316 Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Patch approval by group
Is there a way to approve patches on a per group basis similar to WSUS? I want to just approve patches to a test group of PC\Servers and not blanket approve patches to all PC's / Servers.

100% cpu on managed Windows Server 2012 R2 servers
I find that after a scan of my servers, some of the Windows Server 2012 R2 machines remain consuming 100% cpu. The only workaround is to kill the process Microsoft Windows Scripting Host. I have attached an example screen shot. I strongly suspect ME DC is causing this, probably when it's doing a patch scan. (or something like that) Has anyone seen this before and have a fix? Cheers, Steve.
Patch mangement reporting
Hi, I am new to Desktop Central and have been assigned a task of reporting on status of the Patch Management in Desktop central. Specifically managers want to see the following: Current patching levels for products eg December 2015 for Microsoft (Windows, Office, IE), Adobe, Chrome and then what is the available patching level eg February 2016 Recent Critical releases, Numbers of patches to be applied and number of vulerable machines I have tried to get this data from Patch Management reporting but
Configuration and Change Management Tools through DC
Folks, How can I flag a system in DC as being under change control (meaning I don't want to update it, either automatically) or have someone accidentally patch it manually. Are there options for this? Thanks, Adam
Configuring third party patches with .msp extension for deployment

Libre office update error
Hello, Could not download Libre office update. Please advise! Thanks, Zahid
Tracking custom groups
I need some suggestions on tracking custom groups and patch groups. I had put in a suggestion on adding this functionality of seeing what custom groups a box belongs to but as of yet it has not materialized. So what is everyone else doing or what could the devs suggest to tackle this problem. In our enviorment we have multiple domains with dozens of patching windows with dev, Qa, Prod, different patch cycles depending on clustered resources so we literally have dozens of patch cycles and patch jobs
Difference between security updates
I dont understand why some office updates are included in patch management and some are not. example server 2012 according to MS windows update KB2726958 is ready to be downloaded and be deployed. However is not available in patch management as not being downloaded, not available or even declined. on the contrary KB2910941 was downloaded and installed with out error via DTC. So why do some KBs show available and some do not? I would love to patch all of office via DTC.

Differentiate between physical and virtual machines
Is there a way in patch management to differentiate between physical and virtual machines? We have a large group of developers that run Hyper-V or Vmware workstation and have VM's that are on the domain. I don't want to waste licenses on these are they are constantly destroying and rebuilding them. I need a way to build a report that gives me a list of virtual machines that are being managed. I haven't been able to find anything that will give me this. Was hoping someone has been able to find something.
Patch Scanning Question
Hey guys, So we have several laptop users who don't regularly turn the laptop on, but do at least once or twice a week. I've noticed that I don't have their patch details, because when we normally run a scan, they're frequently not on or online. So my question is this. 1) is there any way to set agents to automatically upload patch details on contact? 2) if not, what is the best practice for obtaining patch details on remote machines used infrequently, lots of scheduled tasks to scan at odd hours?
DC Patch database update
Is there anyway I can have the DC server update its patch database immediately (now) instead of scheduling a date/time?

Patch Automation Issues
So we've been using desktop central for patch deployment for a couple months now, and everything works manually. We tried setting up some automated tasks to scan, download, and deploy last weekend, and unfortunately had very little success. I have a few questions if anyone can answer. A brief description We had 3 scheduled patch scan/download/deploy tasks set to go off Saturday morning for different custom groups. They initiated, however it didn't actually patch the machines, it acted like it

Office 2007 Security update MS15-099
I'm relatively new to Desktop Central, but I found that this security update for Office 2007 seems to be missing from the database, either that or I'm looking in the wrong place, One way or another when I run Windows update on my Windows 7 machine it is reported as being needed, but DT Central sees my machine as up-to-date. MS15-099 Thank you, TroyF
Patch Download Status Window Never Updates (Build 91112)
Server Version: 9.0.1.112 The patch download process window never updates. When you go to manually download patches, a pop-up window opens (url is /patchdwn.do). That window never updates anymore. Screenshot
