How to configure rows in top N reports in EventLog Analyzer

Objective

EventLog Analyzer provides the flexibility to control the number of rows displayed in top N reports. These reports highlight the top sources, users, or events based on log data and are crucial for quick insights. Adjusting the number of rows helps optimize performance and focus on the most relevant data points.

Prerequisite

  1. Ensure the user account has been assigned the necessary role or privileges to access the Product Settings module.

Steps to follow

Step 1: Navigate to Settings > Admin Settings > Product Settings > Product Configuration.
Step 2: Locate the field labeled Rows in Top N Reports.
Step 3: Enter the desired number of rows to be displayed in the top N reports.
Step 4: Click Save to apply the changes.

Tips

  • The default value is 10 rows per top N report. It can be increased up to 2,147,483,647 rows if required.
  • Setting a very high number of rows may:
    • Increase the time taken to generate reports.
    • Reduce readability by overloading the report with too much data.
  • For better performance and user experience:
    • Limit top N rows to a practical number (e.g., 10 or 20).
    • Choose row counts based on the size of your network or the scope of your investigation.
