How can I schedule a custom report to run automatically using ADManager Plus?

Objective 

Organizations often require regular visibility into specific Active Directory data, such as inactive users, password expiry, or group memberships, for compliance, audits, or operational reviews. This article explains how administrators can schedule custom reports using ADManager Plus to automate report generation and email delivery. This helps ensure timely insights without the need for manual effort.

Prerequisites   

  • The custom report should already be created and available under the Custom Reports section.

  • SMTP settings must be properly configured under Admin > General Settings > Server Settings > Email Server/SMS Gateway to enable email delivery.

Steps to follow 

  1. Log in to ADManager Plus.

  2. Go to Reports > Custom Reports.

  3. Click Scheduled Reports in the top-right corner.

  4. Click Create Schedule.

  5. Enter a name for the schedule in the Schedule Name field.

  6. Provide a brief Description.

  7. Under Select Report, choose your saved custom report from the list.

  8. In Schedule Frequency, select how often the report should run—Hourly, Daily, Weekly, Monthlyor set a Custom frequency.

  9. Under Select Format, choose the export format: PDF, HTML, XLSX, or CSV.

  10. In Storage Options, specify the storage path and configure export settings.

  11. Under Email To, enter the recipient email addresses.

  12. Click Email Settings to customize the email content that will accompany the report. You can also enable options such as compressing the report as a ZIP file or sending notifications only when the report contains data.

  13. Click Save to finalize and activate the schedule.

Tips   

  • Run the custom report manually to verify accuracy before scheduling.

  • Use dynamic date filters to ensure relevant and up-to-date data.

  • Enable email notifications to keep stakeholders informed as soon as reports are generated.
