Error: Your account has been disabled. Please contact your administrator

Issue description

Users encounter the error message "Your account has been disabled. Please see your system administrator" when logging in to ADSelfService Plus.

Possible causes

  • The user account might have been disabled manually in Active Directory (AD) by an administrator.
  • The user account might have been disabled due to administrative actions or organization-defined policies, such as prolonged inactivity or automated deactivation rules via third-party management tools like ADManagerPlus.

Prerequisite

  • Administrative access to AD.

Resolution

The AD administrator should:
  1. Open Active Directory Users and Computers (ADUC) or Active Directory Administrative Center (ADAC).
  2. Locate the disabled user account.
    • In ADUC: Navigate to users or the relevant organizational unit (OU).
    • In ADAC: Search for the user in Global Search.
  1. Right-click on the disabled account and select Enable Account.
  2. Instruct the user to try logging in again.
