Software licenses in 7 vs Software license assets in 6
In v6 I was using custom fields in my software licenses/assets to track additional info. If I'm not wrong, in v7, software assets are now resources of type software. When I open the detail info of a software asset/license/resource, v7 doesn't display my UDF fields. I ran a query and can see that the data is there, but SD+ doesn't display it. On the other hand, computers, which are now also resources, do display my UDF fields. Is it a bug in my migration or is it by design?
SDP 7 search
Is it possible to have a search box that will search everything, including the description please? I find it rather tedious having to manually go through requests to find the one I am after. I know we could probably use the subject line better, but considering we are running SQL server, why shouldn't we be able to use the searching power of SQL?

ServiceDesk 6 and Windows 2003 SP2
I'm currently running ServiceDesk 6 (Build 6001) and I need to upgrade to the latest build. It's running on a Windows 2003 server SP1. Should I install SP2 first before upgrading to the latest ServiceDesk build? And are there any issues when using Windows 2003 SP2? Thanks, Alex

SD6 to SD7 Plus
Hi, We are currently user of SD6 and we are planning to move to Sd 7. We intend to start fresh from scratch in SD7 Plus. However would anyone knows of a way to exportv the solutions (SD8) and reimporting them in SD7 Plus? Any help would greatly appreciated. Rizzie
Migration from one server to another
Hi, We want to move Servicedesk Plus to another server, just the front end though as the database is on another server. Are all of the setting for Servicedesk stored in the SQL database or are there other settings that I need to save and migrate accross from the front end as well? Hello, How can I remove the subcategory from the request template so that it does not show up for technicians? I've unchecked the subcategory view for users, but our techs still see it. Thanks, James
when user attaches files in request in foreign language

Hi can timer history be displayed on main call page rather than having to trawl through history? its more useful to see why a call was stopped/started in context with the notes on the call rather than having to go through call history is this something that can be amended?
Automatic request creation
Is it possible to point request details (urgency, priority, request type etc) when it is automatically created from email? Are there any other possibilities to create request automatically?
History Tab
This is probably a feature request, but if I have done something wrong or am missig something please let me know. On the History Tab of a request, it does not appear to log when a Task is completed. This would be great to see for compliance reasons. We're considering using the SD+ for change management, but if we cant log who completes a task and when they do it, we will have to figure something else out. Thanks!
Request / Problem / Change Process
I have a question regarding the request / problem / change process. When a request is received into SDP, and ultimatly gets created into a change request from the request, there is nothing in the history of the request that shows it was turned into a change.
Importing requesters from CSV failed records
I am doing some testing importing users via CSV file, however on the status window at the end of the process, it tells me there are x amount of failed records. How do I go about finding why these failed as I can't see anywhere for logs and such?
"Enable Scan History Clean up"
What does this option do please? I have a daily domain scan set up and wondered if I set this option would it remove any workstations that were no longer on our domain after the number of days set in this option? Or does it leave the workstation asset in the database but just clear out the scan history (e.g. hardware and software audit information for the machine in question). Can anyone clarify this for me please?
Restricting access to reports
Sorry to spam again - build 7009 on SQL Server We want to allow certain people access to certain reports. However SDP only allows us to either allow or deny them to see all reports. Is there a way to only allow people in a certain group to see a certain report, or set of reports?
Joining tickets to requests
I've been looking around in Servicedesk 6.0 and I can't seem to find a way to do this. what I want to be able to do is see in a ticket ( request) what workstations or assets are assigned to that user. Is this possible?
Can requesters view inventory?
I am trying to find a way to allow my requesters to view the inventory section of SDP 6008. My technicians can all view inventory but it would be helpful if the requesters could view it as well. Any ideas? Thanks Chris
PO number issue (Urgent)
The issue reported with PO number and asset name will be addressed in the next hotfix scheduled for release in 3-4 weeks time.The PO number automatically increases by 300 when you restart the ServiceDesk Plus application. This will also be addressed in the next hotfix.RgdsAK

Help with Custom Requests Views
Is it possible to make a custom view that uses the current logged in Technician to filter the view. i.e I want to create a view like the 'My Open or Unallocated' view, but one that takes account of a custom field we have added. When creating the new view, I can only find optionsd for including a specific technician and not for using the current login.

Renaming Workstations by Script (SDP 7 Ent.)
Due to the DNS suffix bug (raised with ServiceDeskSupport [Request ID :##6005320##] : DNS Suffix) I have a LARGE number of PC's displaying the wrong DNS suffix. I need a script that will update the database (currently using MYSQL but can upgrade to MSSQL) and modify every wrong entry to the correct one for me. There is no way I am editing over 600 workstations 1 by 1! I also have a number of duplicate Workstation names, again a script must be the way to go... Thank you for your time to the people
Solutions section
Is there a way to hide solutions so that only Technicians can view them? I want to put some IT proccess and procedures within the Solutions section; but of course don't want employees to see them. I logged on as guest and can see the parent and the topics below that, which I don't want a requestor to be able to see.

SDP Asset license maxed out
I have a 10 tech 450 node license to SD Plus 7 Professional. Running SDP v 7009. My current asset count is showing as 443 despite only 263 being categorised as IT assets. I was told that asset licensing is on a per node basis, and a node is defined as being an asset with an IP address when we purchased SDP. Please advise what the issue is and how it can be resolved as this is preventing us from using SDP to manage our environment as we want. Thanks Tim

Database wiped after running changedbserver.bat?
Hi guys, Huge problem here! I'll try to explain.. I was having trouble configuring mail server properties in SDP7.0, so i decided trying to restart the SDP service on my server. Closing the service went ok. When i ran run.bat i got the message that the account i was using to connect to the database has a expired password - i then went to the SQL server and reset the password on the specific account. Went back to the SDP server and ran changedbserver.bat in order to see if i could connect to the database
Vista migration
First of all im sorry if this subject was already posted before but i couldnt find any info about it. I haven't been able to scan the computers, im using SD v7.002 that have Windows Vista installed. It always give the following error message: �Either access denied for the user or the remote DCOM option might be disabled in the workstation.� Ive tryed to use the troubleshooting for Windows XP and for Windows 2000 but the outcome remains the same error message. If some could give some advices.
