Installing ServiceDesk under linux
hi: I'm trying to install ServiceDesk under linux, but it seems to get stuck searching for the java virtual machine. is it mandatory to have java installed before installing servicedesk? If I'm using a web hosting that doesn't have Java in it, is there a way I can still have Servicedesk installed?

An Error while Sending E-mail in Window 2000 Professional
My operation system has two kinds of verison, one is Window 2000 pro for English Version and the other is for Chinese Version.,When I configure E-mail and trigger sending E-mail operation. In Chinese Version ,everythin is just fine(the mail can be sent and received normally). Monitor group name limitation
When I created a new monitor group entered I a name with 23 caracters, but I had a typing error in it. I tried to edit the name, but there is a limitation of the length by 21 caracters. Why is this limitation, and why can I at creating time enter a longer name? Thanks for any help! Greez Andy

Sir, Our company's LAN is connected with unmanaged switches(which doesnot support SNMP feature).As far i have searched,all the s/w tools that are available to know the performance of switches are available only in manageable switches(which support SNMP),but i would like to know whether there r any tools to know the performance(throughput,resonse time) of our unmanaged switches???Does ur s/w helps us?If not ,can u provide any alternatives inspite of buying a managed switch!. problem with character set in e-mails coming from SD Plus

How difficult it will be to fix the session timeout!?
It has been long time since a few of us reported the miss behave of session timeout+refresh interval of the web session. Basically, user is forced to choice between 1) to have a web session never timeout but no update/refresh or 2) to see the updates by the configured time interval without noticed the page timeout after a while. Application Monitor - MSSQL, Lotus Notes not working
I am not getting any data using application monitoring on MSSQL and Lotus Notes. The servers has snmp enabled (and sqlserveragent enabled on the server with mssql) and are able to collect data for the rest of the services. None of the parameters in the MSSQL and Lotus Notes application monitoring works for me. I tried using the MIB browser to trace the value but it showed the message 'Request failed or timed out. No error'. Please help.
NFA backup
Hi Guys I'd like to back up my NFA server on a daily basis. I want to schedule the backupdb.bat file to compress the database and back up the compressed file. However, the backupdb.bat file creates an archive that is date/time specific, and therefore always creates a new file, which will cause issues for my backup job. Is there any way to run this (or any other) batch file so that it always creates a file with the same name, overwriting it every day? Thanks Stuart

Database Filters
Hello: Can you explain exact functionality of Database filters? The way I understand is that it will filter out events before they are stored in Database however it cannot filter incoming events, let me know exact operation. One issue, I faced was that when I created database filter for filtering out unwanted events and click on "apply" all the servers/devices showed "Orange" status and stopped collecting logs. I got the demo version up and running. Had to download the newer version for the web. Now I am looking at the product and am wondering how can I tract projects in this software? I also noticed that there was no way to allow the technician to put in how much time he/she spent on a task. On the report side I am wondering if there is a way to ceate a report that shows me the total number of hours each tech is generating per task? Thank you JW
Edit Request - DueBy Date - Calendar does not function
When editing a request in Service Desk 4.1.0 (build 4112), you cannot use the calendar to change the DUEBY Date. The calendar for CREATEDDATE work just fine however.

Hi, I have installed NetFlow Analyze for test with a touter Cisco 827H I have configured the router over interface Ethernet0, Dialer1, ATM0 (teorically Dialer1 ad ATM0 are the same). Why I see only IN or OUT traffic on interface? There is a method to see IN/OUT on Eth0 and Dialer1 (or ATM0)? In your online demo on Building1Router the Ethernet 0/0 show IN and OUT traffic.
Thresholds will not be generated with custom monitors
I all, I have a custom monitor, checking the temperature of my APC Power Supply. I set a threshold for this monitor, but the threshold can not be saved. There is always "No Threshold" in my Device-properties page. When setting a threshold for another monitor e.g. Memory utilization, the threshold is saved and works. Is there a bug, that thresholds will not work with custom monitors? Juergen

Problem: misspelled names in Requester list
We use AD authentication. If someone misspells the name, that mistyped name is added to the list. So we might have Gavin Smith and Gavn Smith and Gavin Smit, all referring to the same people. Is there any way to remove these misspelled names? Thanks

Is it possible to monitor an installed printer that is listed in the Windows printers list? For example, when I go to "Printers and Faxes" on my Windows server, can I pick one of those printers to be monitored in OpManager? How do I force an immediate rediscovery of computers on my network. For instance, I delete a server and then want it immediately rediscovered without having to wait for the rediscovery period to elaspe?
Request: Show [number] per page
Can SDP please remember the number a user picks in the "Show [number] per page" drop down? It's very irritating that it resets itself to 25 every time. For example, I'm currently assigning 300 users to 300 machines and every time I assign one user, the page refreshes and resets the number to 25 again so I then I have to reselect a higher number to see the rest. i use the tried version of SD+ ,when i finished the installation of SD and got started the SD automatically ,i have found that the startup process stoped on the 89% .
