Test environment set up and maintinece
Please provide a stratgy to maintian a test environment that is versions ahead of the Prod with prod data. We would ultimatly like to devise a method to replicate data to the test but as restore can only occur between servers at the same version, I can only see building a an environment for this purpose. Again do you have a better option?
URL Monitor alarms NULL
Hello, I have noticed that when alarms are generated by the URL monitors, when looking at the event summary widget they are categorized (event type) as NULL. I would have thought it might have been a little more specific, to save drilling into it. For further clarification - see attached image :) Am I missing something? Thanks in advance Troy

Hi All, I notice a strange issue and hope it can be fixed by modifying some configuration files. The issue is as follows: - I added a switch into OpManager, - OpManager picks it up and imports all the *ACTIVE* interfaces and start monitoring them, - The remaining ports are left and not monitored by OpManager. - I activate one of those inactive ports, but OpManager does not seem to auto-discover the recently-active port. Application Manager - Interface Status
Howdy. I've a query I need assistance with. I wish to monitor the status of an interface, see highlighted section at the end. Is there any way to do this on an existing monitor i.e. edit one and add the option without having to recreate that monitor? I've attached a screenshot and it shows I'm monitoring the interfaces, but this option seems to be missing. Is it only configured at login? I don't wish to recreate the monitor as it's a critical device. Also, could it also be a licence issue? Thanks

testing the product and using SMTP server....don't see a "test" or "send" option to make sure that my associated actions fro URL sequence monitoring (which trigger the email) is working.....how do I test the email functionality?
Desktop Central Server Migration

I've already changed Service Desk application with a full Backup and than a restore, but I can't find the full DB backup for Desktop Central, and I also don't know how to restore the schedule Backup. Escalation matrix
HI, I am evaluating enterprise version of SD, Can we configure Escalation level in SD? i.e if technician 1 unable to resolve the issue in 4 hours time then the request get escalate to Technicial 2 and so on further. I can configure in group option of SD that also within group and if technician has not pickup the request it will notify to specified technicians. this does not resolve my purpose. Regards Vipul

Startup-Running Config Snapshot
Seems to have broken in build 5510. Where as in build 5500 you could click on the devices in conflict and select "Copy Running To Startup" (although you can still do this) the task will show as being complete but it doesnt actually work and the number of devices in conflict stays the same. Scott.

Hello, I am trying to send SMS alerts using a Port COM from another server that have Kannel, is it possible? Kannel send SMS with http posts, is possible to have a batch script with the "wget --spider" of the post in case an alert trigger to send sms?

Problem creating business view / editing existing view
Hi We have recently upgraded to Opman 8 build 8721 We haven't really been using business views before, but would like to do so. When I try to add a new business view, i get a dialog box : "initializing business view", but it just runs forever. If I try to edit one of the older business view, we made as a test earlier, nothing happens, when I press the Add device (or any of the other buttoms) I can see, that others have had the same problem, but cannot see any solution for the problem
Interface polling interval
Hi, We are using OpManager to monitor our network switches/routers. We notice that if a port goes down or up, OpManager takes unexpected number of minutes before it sends a notification that a port state is changed. Is this interval configurable? I tried to change the polling interval of the switch to 1 mins, but the result is still unexpected. looking forward to hearing from you soon.
Win 2K Server - CPU Usage
Hi, Have just installed OPManager on a 30 day trial. All seems to be pretty good so far except for one niggle. We have a Win 2K Server (SP4) which is constantly reporting 98% CPU usage. Obviously this isn't correct. Any ideas? Regards Tim Felton

webCheckText usage
Hi, I downloaded AppManager 9.2 to check it out before upgrading our current version which is already doing a really good job. I want to use Real Browser Monitor with the webCheckText to try and identify the cause of an intermittent bug. I managed to get a Real Browser Monitor working after some fiddling around and now it logs on to my EnterpriseOne application, launches a new screen, does a find then logs off. I want to use the webCheckText function to check for some text on the pages as it goes

OpManager crashes when viewing unsolicited traps
Hi, Our OpManager instance crashes when viewing the unsolicitied traps from the Alarms - Active Alarms - Unsolicted traps. When attempting to view this page it hangs for a while then reports Error!. This takes down the entire OpManager application and requires a restart to get it working again. I have performed a DBRepair and a server restart but this issue continues. Can you please assist. Creating Test install
We are trying to upgrade to the latest version of Service Desk but when started installing the build our Service Desk failed after build 7.5.0 Build 7514. We went back to the old version through a restore process basically installing the version we had a latest full back up from then upgrading to the version we knew worked. We now are took that server converted it into a virtual machine and we are trying to connect it to a test database. Currently the virtual machine will connect to live the database
MS SQL, No Databases Listed?
At the weekend we detached and re-attached a couple of databases on one database server. We also installed microsoft critical updates. After this I noticed one or two databases mounted on that server where not monitored in op-manager so I clicked "Select Databases to Monitor" and nothing was listed. I also checked a second database server and this is also now showing no databases in the "Select Databases to Monitor" list. Interface grouping
I imagine grouping of interfaces per the service they support is a very cool idea to be available in the system. Scenario 1. A network with multivendor WAN links would benefit from the monitoring and reporting of the interface availability (to mean the WAN link availability) This will help in the mangement of business SLA. Scenario 2. a LAN Switch can have specific ports configured for specific VLANs to mean a department, business function etc. it would be therefore usefult to manage and report
help with the layout of the appmanger database
I have a custom application that interfaces with several monitoring programs, including appmanger but was having a little difficulty. I was pulling information from the alert table to get the current status of all the monitors. That was working until i added a couple of different monitors and realized that i was getting my information from the wrong table. My question is, if that is the wrong table, what is the right table to pull my information from? I tried looking at the databaseschema.conf file

Polling Interval on Remote Office WAN clients
Hello there, I have a quick question as regarding the Polling Interval on my Remote Office WAN clients. I need to reduce this value from 2 Minutes to 1 Minute due to Remote Controll issues. Circular Comments from Out of Office replies
A ticked was assigned to an engineer that was away for some time. He set an out of office reply on his outlook. the problem is that this created a circular pattern where his out of office reply would be lodged against the ticket, which in turn generated an email from SDP about the new comment that then triggered the out of office reply again. this has left some 5000 conversations against the ticket. Now i cannot delete the individual replies or the master ticket. What SQL command/commands can I use
How to update Distribution Servers and agents in remote office?
I've patched my DC server several times since it was first installed, and I've even reinstalled my Distribution Servers a couple of times after some of the patches. However, it doesn't seem like the agents on computers in Remote Offices are being updated. The agents on the computers in the local office (same subnet as the DC server) are being updated though. I was under the impression that the remote agents would automatically update to the latest version when the Desktop Central server was updated...

Trying OpManager WMI
I am experimenting with the OpManager Free Edition Build 8721. I was trying to add a WMI-based custom monitor as per User Guide pg. 64 and I am getting the error: Failed to get performance counters from the selected WMI class. for every machine and every WMI class I tried. I've checked and re-checked the credentials. I can access WMI on those machines with a third-party WMI browser, with the same credentials. Is this a limitation of the free edition? TIA Alex
How to evaluate the "On Hold Time" of a request
Hi everyone, I looking for a solution to calculate the real time spent on the resolution of each request of our Help Desk. I create a Reporting Tool to generate lots of reports but now I’m searching the way to calculate real times. Effectively a lot of requests in my company depend on various suppliers before to be resolved by our technicians. During these times a request can be on "On Hold" state during a while. In the SD database I can’t find the entry where I can detect a change of state.
