Request Aging Analysis
Has anyone every done aging analysis of the requests in this system? There does not appear to be any fields that track the number of days open for a request. I guess you would need to do some SQL for: today - opened time to get this? eg. would like reports containing: 1) Open days for current cases (with columns <7days, 7-14 days 14-30 days, >30days etc). 2) Average age of open cases. 2) Number of days to close a case. Has anyone done this? Would appreciate any advice.
Category, sub-category, and items
I'm planning my my category tree and I have a question about the category, sub-category, item relationship. I plan on adding a "Hardware" category with the following sub-categories: "Blackberry, copier, check scanner, workstation, printer, monitor, scanner, other". Do I need to have items associated with each of these sub-categories? I don't know what else I would include as items because this would become too specific. For reporting purposes, do I need to add items? If I run reports, would I simply

Dear Maljeev, Is there any harm in creating a View in ServiceDesk database in MSSQL server 2003, We will use this view to query some info from SD+ database and using that view we will generate report in crystal reports.
Issue with ESX 4.1i to be added in OPManager upgrade to build 8811
Hello, I upgraded OPManager to build 8811 then I tried to add a new esx 4.1i in OPManager. I configured SNMP and created an account usable in OPManager to get information then ESX 4.1 is added but I got this error message Could not collect data, HTTPS connection may be slow or not responding. Probable reasons are timeout, more connections, invalid username and/or password. Username and password are working fine. Can you point me in direction that I can check? Best regards Philippe
Grouping of eventlog rules and notification profiles
It should be nice to group eventlog rules. In my case we have some eventlog rules with status ignor. When I could group this rules to one ignor group I only add one rule to a new server. Also grouping notificaiton profiles. Sending a mail and starting a program on the same trigger (e. g. eventlog rule, threshold etc).
Performance Issues with Remote Control
Hi - I looked for other forum posts on this and the only one I led to a dead link...... We are trying to use Desktop Central for remote support of our 8 branches, but the performance of Remote Control is really slow - terrible lag. There are a few machines that I use VNC and Logmein to access and the performance on these products is significantly better. Is there anything we can tweak to improve this? I would like to have Desktop Central be the single source solution for remote management. Thanks.
Monitor is a Non-IT Assets or Asset Component?
Hi people, I'm looking for the best way to insert my monitor on the SDP and now I have one doubt. Discovering in the Asset Management I found 2 ways to create Monitors: 1 - Monitor is a Non-It asset 2 - Monitor is a Component Looking for the functional use, both can be "attached" to one computer but, when you use the option 2 (Monitor is a Component) you can use that to associate to ASSET not to User or department. I'm evaulting SDP Pro and when trying to connect to a Windows 7 machine, the Ctrl + Alt + Del button on the toolbar does not send the command. Is this a bug? Have I configred something incorrectly? Is it not fully compatible with Windows 7 yet?
Creating new device type
I want to add an APC AP9630. How do I add a new device type? More importantly, Where do I obtain the information for creating this device? I am not sure what information to ask the manufacturer. I see an APC7830, but I need to add a 9630. Thank you Drew Shafer
Device Discovery
What's the easiest way to find MIBs & OIDS for specific devices? I have a ton of Dells, and some times they provide data and sometimes they do not -> I know the service credentials need to be correct, but this has been stumping me...I can have (2) Optiplex 380(s) and use the same template, but sometimes they will poll and other times they will not What is the best way to go about this when WMI & SNMP aren't connecting? I've read the documentation, but any pointers or quick tips on identifying configuration
Does the Asset Database remain linked even after the Workstation Operating System & SDP Agent is reinstalled
Currently we are installing the SDP 8 agent on our workstations to enable asset inventory and other functions like change monitoring, request monitoring etc. Please clarify if the Asset database remain intact and connected with the asset even after the Operating System on the Workstation in formatted and reinstalled alongwith the SDP agent? How does the reinstalled agent tell the SDP server that it is the same Workstation as earlier and get all the requests, changes etc linked to the reinstalled

I have a windows 7 64 bits... and in old messages I read that Desktop Central don´t support the 64-bit Operating Systems. Exist agent for 64 bits ??? o not ? Thank

IIS Support
Does SupportCenter operate in the same way that SD+ does. In other words will SupportCenter work via IIS, or does it use the Java\Tomcat system. If it does use the Java\TomCat system it simply isn't useable outside of our internal network and so is useless to us. Will it run side by side with SD+ on the same machine? Regards.
Custom message for configurations
When running configurations we always customize the message displayed to the user when permitting them to cancel the restart. How can we permanantly change the default message so we do not have to constantly retype it? Thanks!

Home->Hosts displays no events, but "Show Last 10 Events" does.
When I go to the dashboard, no events are listed (0 for Error/Warning/Failure/Others/Totals). If I do a report, again no data is listed. BUT If I click on "Show Last 10 Events", it shows recent data is actually being collect and you can few events in that manner. Any ideas how to get EventLog Analyzer to display the events correctly?
Calculation of availability with scheduled downtime
Hi I have a business appl. with an opening time of 07:00 - 22:00 (mon-fri). I have therefore defined scheduled downtimes for all other intervals during a normal week. I therefore expected the availability to be meaured as uptime / (uptime + downtime) - and leaving the scheduled downtime totally out of the equation. But it is calculated as uptime / (uptime + downtime + scheduled downtime). I can define scheduled downtime as uptime, which will use the equation (uptime + scheduled downtime) /

help... i installed the probe on my desktop and nothing. the service is running but no informaiton is showing up on the OpManager program.

Connection problems with monitor of MySQL
Hi support team I have a monitor of MySQL for a specific client in application manager and it was ok until last week. Last week the networking group changed a firewall for this client and the monitor began to show downtime every 5 minutes. I checked the conecction by ping and port 3306 and it is ok. There is latency between the server that has application manager and the server that has the MySQL database. The connection time with the database is more than before. I think that is a network problem
How do I report on work logs?
Hi all, Some of the requests need more than one technician to work on them. By now we send requests to a group and assign the request to a technician, when the work is done by the technician, he will add work log and change the technician to other technicians. We need a report showing which technician works on which requests, but when technician name change to others it will not be presented in reports anymore. Are we wrong in our request process? Could we have a report to shows work logs?

OPMANAGER - Problem with replication
Hi friends, I´m facing a problem with the replication between two machines with the OpManager failover installed. The problem is (Consider that all services are running normally): --> When I simulate a hard shutdown in the Primary Server the standby server assumes the application normally and after this when i try to get back the Primary Server services the same starts normally and tell to the Standby Server that is everything ok now and the Standby Server come back to monitoring the Primary Server

How do I add a new "product name" to the Software product type
I need to be able to add a new product under the "Software" product type but do not appear to have that option. The only option I have is to choose from a popup list of "unmanaged" software titles that have been scanned. I need to add a new software product name in order to be able to create a PO to purchase that title.

Encountering Error Message in user accounts reset password session
I installed already the demo version and already enrolled some domain users but when I try to reset password one of the domain user, here is the error message: "Reset Password Failed" "Administrator credentials in application do not match with the one found in Active Directory" -Although the softwares default admin account enables me to reset the password which changes the password of the domain user account user so how come it does not have the proper credential with its domain admin account counterpart?
EventLog Analyzer 7 "No Data Found"
I am receiving the error "no data found" when attempting to view event detail of all bar charts and reports. I have EventLog Analyzer 7 installed. I am currently reviewing the product for a potential purchase by one of my clients. I have been very happy with the product. I hope this issue can be resolved quickly.
