Opmanager and Dell OpenManage Best Practice
Hello, We are using Opmanager Enterprise. At this time we are looking for a way to monitor the alerts of Dell OpenManage from our Dell servers. What is the best way to do this? For example, if a disk in a raid-set dies the Dell OpenManage alerts show that a disk has gone offline. The alert we want to appear in Opmanager as a critical alert and link an alertprofile to it, so we receive a sms also. We would appreciate any best practices... Thanks in advance!
Can't get a correct the number of pages from the printer by SNMP
Hi, In Opmanager 8022 I created new monitor for a printer - prtMarkerLifeCount (from Printer-MIB - .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.10.2.1.4) and added this monitor to my printer. Through MIB-Browser I see how many pages have been printed on the printer (see 2 pic in attachments), but I do not receive this number through Device Details the printer (see 1 pic in attachments). Failover scenario
Hi Support Team, we have a Primary-/Standby-Server setup in failover configuration and if the network connection collapses the replication scenario crashs too. Explanation: Server1 runs in primary mode, Server2 in standby mode - heartbeating Server1. If Server1 loses network connectivity, Server2 switches over to primary mode (and Server1 is also in primary mode, without network access). If now Server1 re-establish the network connection, both servers running in primary mode and database replication
Switch Port Mapper is no longer working in OpManager 8022
This was once an issue that support was able to resolve, however this has cropped up again. OpManager's Switch Port Mapper does not display MAC address, IP Address or DNS name. Checked that the correct community string was in place, tested to see if this was an issue with the switch being mapped so downloaded OpUtils 5.6 which then mapped that switch correctly. Please assist us in resolving this issue. Thank you. Rob
INterface Monitoring on a fibre switch
Hi I am monitoring availability of interfaces on Brocade and McData switches using Opmanager. The issue I have is that almost all of my interfaces are Red instead of green, even though all the interfaces are indeed up and running. Issue with a user trying to add notes in OPManager

Infrastructure Views copy, not import to a New view
Why can't I create my own custom Infrastructure View, and not "suck" all the devices out of the other views. Also would like to NOT apply a template to the devices, but let them keep their properties Business Views don't work, so thought I would give Infrastructure Views a try. Imagine my shock when I imported using the Domain Controller template and saw my server all now had Domain Controller dashboard added them. Arghhh.

Can OpManager support SNMP informs instead of SNMP traps. Is there any other method to configure OpManager for reliable alarm notifications sent from device.
List view cpu&memory usage custom graphs
Hello, I was able to get custom monitors to work with dial graphs, but the "list view" -graphs still shows 0% cpu and memory usage. Is there any way to get same values to those graphs? Regards, Mikko

That is to say, they wish to refer to the threshold value which different customer configured. We also know that thresholds are based on business policies. Can't add/delete Server objects
OpManager deleted some of my servers when I accidental did a import into a new Enterprise View and made all the servers domain controllers. Shame on me for not reading the docs, it also killed all my exchange monitoring which I had to re-do. Now I can't add my servers back, need to force the mysql database to purge out deleted objects. This is a Dual Proc, server with 4 cores and fast SCSI drives with 4gigs of ram.
OpMgr won't monitor my exchange 200 servers
I have setup the exchange monitor as required, yet, it won't even finish the wizard. The wizard asks me to fill in the location of the mailbox stores, public and private. I did this and it doesn't give me an option to continue. I know that WMI works, I can use the freeware solarwinds exchange monitor tool that uses WMI and I can get all the message stats, etc. Support has been absent in answering my ticket #4180677 which was put in @ 3pm on 9/18. :(
Can't edit Business views MAPS in Flash
It doesn't matter what browser or what PC, Business views won't let me add to the map. Cache cleared, nothing, firefox, nothing, ie6 nothing, Ie7 same issue. What gives?
Exchange 2007 monitoring
Hi all, I'm monitoring Exchange 2007 with OpManager. Everything seems to be ok but for some reason, the "messages sent per minute" field is showing 0 messages. Os ther emore config i need to do to get this to monitor the sent messages? Also, how can you edit the settings for the Exchange monitor? i need to change the mailbox databse path. Matt H

Customer Login Hide desktop management
We allow some of our customers access to the central control panel so that they can look over their devices etc. For those customers who DONT use/have the desktop management feature, it would be nice to be able to hide this in the inteface when they log in. Could this be added into the access controls for user accounts please.

Standby server have no access to primary database
Hello, I've recognized the following issue a few times, after a fresh installation of OpManager 8022. Setup is as follows: Server1 has a fresh OpM primary installation. Server2 has a fresh standby installation. DB replication from Server1 to Server2 works perfect. But replication mode of MySQL database doesn't work fine if you start the servers, because Server2 has no permission to connect to MySQL database on Server1. You can solve this problem by adding user account manually on Server1 with the
OpManager snmp failing to query a Linux box.
I'm the Linux admin, and want to make sure I have the Linux box set up correctly to allow OpManager (which is running on a Windows box) to poll/query the Linux box. snmp reports that it's running correctly:[root@tcohepc151 snmp]# ps -ef | grep snmp | grep -v grep root 1541 1 0 Sep20 ? 00:00:00 /usr/sbin/snmpd -Lsd -Lf /dev/null -p /var/run/snmpd.pid -a and the snmpd.conf file is one that I've used successfully on other boxes. Second question : When I migrate a virtual server from one ESX host to another the virtual server is always dispayed under the source ESX host in OpManager Is there a way to automatically update the list of virtual machine registered to an ESX host in OpManager? Editing Business View Background
Hello, if I want to edit the background image of a business view, I double click in the editor. After that, a dialog should come up, but what happended is, the editor crashs. After I double clicked, no editor button works anymore (the whole flash plugin crashs). Any idea, how to solve this problem and be able to change business view background again? Best regards Philip

Intermittent: Invalid State / Connection object is closed, when attempting to view Alarms
Frequently in the current version of opmanager, I'm encountering the error pasted below, when I go to view Alarms. When this ocurrs there are no TABS available to click, so I must click my explorer BACK button and re-click the ALARMS tab. Just a moment ago, I encountered the error 4 consecutive times, and on the 5th attempt, I was able to view active alarms. What could be happening? How can we fix or troubleshoot this problem? Problem with Probe
Hi all I'm having an odd problem with a Probe for one of my clients. Well two problems actually, though I'm not sure if they are directly related or not. First - the probe does not seem to be detecting all the devices on the client network. The site has 6 servers and 40+ desktops and yet the first time I ran the discovery it only picked up 20 devices. How to change from bits to kb or Mb?
Hi, Unit in program is shown in bits, how can I change to kilobits (kb) or Megabits (Mb)? It makes a lot easier to read values. And where is the option if I want to see values every 5 minutes for last month in Bandwith Monitor. I can see every 5 minutes if I choose "Last Hour Report", in "Last Month Report" is available only every 1 hour period. Thanks
Switch port mapping doesn't work with Nortel switches
I'm using the version 5.6 build 5613, but when I try to add a Nortel 325-24G switch on switch port mapping, it always failed. I set the community in my switch but is not working. It works fine with Cisco and 3Com elements. Can someone help me?
Switch Port Mapper - IP Address Manager dual entries
Hi, I am running latest build of OpUtils (5619) on Windows 2008 x32 server. All is working well, except on switch port mapper, on ports where switch is connected to switch (uplink) I see entry for a computer that is connected to that port, resulting in multiple IP entries in the IP Address Manager. Example: Computer A is connected to switch 1 on port 10, switch 1 is connected to switch 2 on port 12, switch 2 is connected to switch 3 on port 5. I see computer A on all switches in the port mapper
Deleting older backup files
Hello, We have been using Opmanager now for some time and things have been going well generally. We run the X:\Program Files\AdventNet\ME\OpManager\bin\backup\BackupDB.bat file each night in a Scheduled task and backup these files to SAN/Tape. One thing that we have noticed though is our X:\Program Files\AdventNet\ME\OpManager\backup directory has grown to a considerable size. We have manually deleted backups older than about a month but this is easy forgotten and blows out our backup window. Is
