Ability to send SNMP Trap or syslog as Notification
Hello, I have a quick question about Notification. We have a Manager of Manager type environment and we have installed demo of Opmanager 5.5 build 5510. The master events collector can receive events in the format of SNMP traps or syslog. 1) Does opmanager have the ability to send SNMP traps or Syslog messages for exceptions instead of just being able to send emails? 2) Does Opmanager have a logfile where all the alarms are written to, that we can tail and then send to our events manager ? Unable to test connection for desktops
Whenever I try to test the connection for a desktop on my network, I receive the error message "The Monitor did not respond to the test request." I tried putting in the Username and Password for the PC, but that didn't work either. Am I doing something wrong or am I unable to connect to those PC's? I like what I've seen of the product so far, it'd just be a shame if I couldn't monitor individual workstations. The workstation I'm targeting is a Compaq that is running Windows 2000. Thanks
problems with trap processor
If I sent a SNMP trap without trap processor, I see it on the Unsolicited traps window. After creating the relative trap processor, I cannot see anymore the trap on the unsolicited window but I cannot see it neither on the alarm list. URL monitoring of an SSL site?
During our eval, we have not been able to get OpManager5.5 to "Check Now" an SSL site, it returns Host Unavailable. I can monitor a non ssl site by using http:// though. The documentation mentions https in the get/post operations but nothing further. Any URL monitoring we would of done would be https. Also wondering, can this follow redirect return statuses?
PIX discovery Issues with Opmanger
I'm doing eval on OpsManager. Got 3 issues: 1. When I discoverd a PIX 515, it was discovered as desktop. I move it to Firewall manually, but the view won't display the firewall. It says 1 item but no icon or info. I can move it to switch or router category and it does show up, just not as a firewall. Annoying. 2. When I tried to add another network segment, it says "network already in database", but I can't see it in network views. How do I add a network already discovered? 3. In my PIX 515 detail
Exchange 2000 WMI
Is there anyway you can monitor Exchange 2000 using WMI counters? OpManager seems to support WMI for disk usage etc but relies on SNMP for Exchange which Microsoft does not support. I don't really want to install third-party WMI to SNMP converters on all my servers. Any help would be much appreciated, and adding custom WMI Graphs would be a great feature for the future. snmp traffic monitors and lost interfaces
Hi, I am using build 5510 free version for monitoring 2 6509's with IOS. When I use the web client, the first two ports on module 1, which are different types on both switches, they don't show up on either 6509. I've tried to rediscover, but it didn't work. Any ideas? Also, traffic monitors don't communicate, but the resource monitors do. I have verified that I could walk that mib with the mib browser, so I am unsure of what the issue could be. Feature I want the most
Maintenance Schedule (change) -- include indepedant URL monitors as a category you could schedule downtime for. Maintenance Schedule (change) -- Rather than "unmanaging" devices, monitor them, but "suspend notifications".. that's it. I still want to confirm downtime issues etc., by clicking on the device. Notification suspension is much more desirable than "unmanaging". The network events for that device, serve a valuable tool, even if I choose not to be notified live of the event. Stand Alone URL

does anyone have a working seed file i can look at. I have specific IP's i want to discover. i only want to discover my routers. so i would like a seed file that can be used on a very specific level. Thank you in advance for your help

For a URL monitor which I have not associated with a device (ie, main URL monitor, not a URL monitor created on a device page), is there a way for me to preschedule downtime?? ie, I know this URL will go offline once a week, while the Database which it connects becomes unavailable.
Extra reporting?
Hello, I've been showing my supervisor this product and he would like to know how hard it would be for you or me to add in an extra report. On the reports web page he would like a report for servers which would have cpu utilization, memory utilization and disk utilization, maybe sorted by server name instead of resource. Is there anyway to unlimit it? Also, it will be nice if the related trap processer can be bring up from the alarm contents. Switch interfaces are not available
Hi, HP ProCurve Switch 2524 is in the Network View to see, moreover the blue star is there, but in the Infrastructure View is he not to see and in the Device Details, Interfaces is only one interface (index 29) there. Hi, I have just started to play with SNMP. When I am using SNMP Browser to check if SNMP working on my device I've got following response: Request failed or timed out. Response PDU received from 10.243.176.65 Error Indication in response: There is no such variable name in this mib. Errindex: 1 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I have copied all MIBs from that device but still has the same message. Could you please explain me in more detailes a message above. remove a device error
I am trying out OpManager, and upgraded the server with the service pack. It's been running fine. Today I enabled SNMP on a win2003 server and tried to set it up for traffic monitoring. I added a monitor for one of the interface card profiles, and when I click on Edit, i get a page that says "Error!" if I check the box next to it and hit remove...the page refreshes and it's still in the list. I don't like the error message being so blank...but can anyone help me remove this device?

Having problems getting some networks into OpManager. Sometimes I get the "Please enter a valid Network Address" error on the web admin page, but it works in the client Discovery Settings page, but now it's not working on either. The client window appears to input and accept the networks, but they don't "stick." I go right back into the window and the changes I made aren't there. Unsolicited Traps
I have added a device to be monitored and it appears correctly as a server. However I am sending unsolicited traps via the subagent to Opmanager and I am unable to receive them. I have disabled other SNMP applications that may conflict with OpManager, but my main issue at the moment is that in the "Devices to watch" screen this server does not appear - althought the other devices defined to OPManager do...... Any ideas on what I should do to get this to appear in the "Devices to watch" screen? Thank

Minor Bug / URL Monitor Names / Infrastructure vs Admin tab
I've been tweaking a lot of URL monitors, and noticed a reproducable bug you might already know of. When I edit a URL monitor from the main URLs view (main page infrastructure views | URLs | click to edit a monitor), to (for instance) add a secondary email address under the SEND TO, when I go to SUBMIT the changes the edit is rejected with an error msg that says spaces are not allowed (refers to the URL monitor name), the same action also clears the URL Monitor Name field, readying the cursor for

how does opmanager perform its up/down status polls? Does it perform an icmp ping to get device status or does it perform and snmp get. If icmp how can can you set the retries to a higher number before saying a device is down?
disable iterms in "Infrastructure Views"
It is nice to have more and more iterms available. However, not everybody need the same catagories. Is there anyway to check them off. That is, if I don't monitor desktop or have no interest in printer, I would rather not to have them in the list to confuse the operators. Thanks, Min
management station collection station
I would like to break out my polling. I would like to have a server do my url polling and one do my router polling and one for my servers. I would like to then have them report to one managment station does support this. also this would help when load start to become an issue. pleas advise.

Problems and feature suggestions
I've been evaluating OpManager for a couple of weeks now, and it's pretty good for the price. I'm having a few problems (probably just configuration issues). Running OpManager Build 5510 Problems: 1. Everytime the computer hosting the OpManager service reboots, extra lines get put into the message section of my notification profiles. This is annoying as you have to go in and delete them everytime. I'm running it on Windows XP Pro at the moment for eval purposes. After a reboot it looks like this:
