Active Directory monitoring on non-domain controllers?
I would like to monitor Active Directory on my Exchange server, but it is not a domain controller. How do I enable the Active Directory monitoring for this server without classifying it as a DC?
monitor a scheduled task
Wondering what I need to do to setup OpManager to monitor a scheduled task on a server to assure that it has run without errors. Have searched and haven't seen anything about whether or not this is even possible.
net mask 255.255.255.255
When I add new device in OpManager by device name/IP address why I cannot choose Netmask to be all 255(255.255.255.255). The last mask that I can chose is 255.255.255.252. But, if I have loopback interface with netmask all 255 and want to add device by that address it is not possible because netmask 255.255.255.255 not exists in netmask list.

Is there a canned script or has anyone written one that will shutdown the DB, backup configs and DB and then restart Opmanager?
Disable Syslog?
Hi everyone, We're using the latest Op Manager 8.0 and hotfix. I was wondering if there was a way to disable the built in Syslog server. We'd like to use another one instead of Op Managers, but keep the rest of Op Manager running. Any thoughts? Thanks! Eric
Customizing device snapshot
Hi, I have created some custom device types for our own hardware that is SNMP capable. Is it possible to customize the device snapshot page to display status information from SNMP query? Hi , Many time my OpManager web console responds very slow , it mostly happens when I click to fetch some report from opManager . Moreover , My sqlservr.exe is consuming 1.657 GB of Memory & java.exe is consuming 1.078 GB of memory . still I am having 83% memory utilization & 17% free.

All servers on the domain detected as desktops
We are currently re-evauating OP manager 8022, and when we scan a domain it finds devices, but it would not detect them as windows/linux/esx servers. The devices are detected as desktop, and the template is set to be server.. We scan ESX, linux and windows and are showing up under MAPS>Desktops. So the OS is detected properly for windows , but the category is wrong. For ESX its not detecting them, so we have to switch then manually. sucks...
Monitoring ifInErrors/ifOutErrors on switchports
I want to query the ifInErrors and ifOutErrors on the switchports of my switch, so I can get a quick overview of where errors are being generated so I can detect it at a glance, because in my network, it most often indicates duplex mismatches. So the OID I want to query for this particular device is: 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.14.x ifInErrors 1.3.6.1.2.1.2.2.1.20.x ifOutErrors Where x denotes the interface number. OpManager & WMI Faillures
Hi, We have a number of servers where WMI consitently fails the credentials test. Most recently with a Windows Server 2008 box, but we have seen it happen to a few Server 2003 boxes as well. We have several other servers that do not fail this WMI check so a bit at a loss as they are all configured in the same manor. Any thoughts or ideas?

Frustration...
Hi, OpManager is a fantastic product...when it works. For some reason, today i can't monitor AD or Exchange. Most of the AD monitors report N/A and when i test the monitor, it tells me it isn't responding. This has happened a few times now and i usually have to stop and start the services on the OpManager server. As i said, OpManager is good but it's annoying when it just stops monitoring. Nothing has changed on our servers so it must be down to OpManager. Can anybody advice please?? Matt H

Hello, We are using Opmanager Enterprise. At this time we are looking for a way to monitor the alerts of Dell OpenManage from our Dell servers. What is the best way to do this? For example, if a disk in a raid-set dies the Dell OpenManage alerts show that a disk has gone offline. The alert we want to appear in Opmanager as a critical alert and link an alertprofile to it, so we receive a sms also. We would appreciate any best practices... Thanks in advance!
Can't get a correct the number of pages from the printer by SNMP
Hi, In Opmanager 8022 I created new monitor for a printer - prtMarkerLifeCount (from Printer-MIB - .1.3.6.1.2.1.43.10.2.1.4) and added this monitor to my printer. Through MIB-Browser I see how many pages have been printed on the printer (see 2 pic in attachments), but I do not receive this number through Device Details the printer (see 1 pic in attachments). Failover scenario
Hi Support Team, we have a Primary-/Standby-Server setup in failover configuration and if the network connection collapses the replication scenario crashs too. Explanation: Server1 runs in primary mode, Server2 in standby mode - heartbeating Server1. If Server1 loses network connectivity, Server2 switches over to primary mode (and Server1 is also in primary mode, without network access). Switch Port Mapper is no longer working in OpManager 8022
This was once an issue that support was able to resolve, however this has cropped up again. OpManager's Switch Port Mapper does not display MAC address, IP Address or DNS name. Checked that the correct community string was in place, tested to see if this was an issue with the switch being mapped so downloaded OpUtils 5.6 which then mapped that switch correctly. INterface Monitoring on a fibre switch
Hi I am monitoring availability of interfaces on Brocade and McData switches using Opmanager. The issue I have is that almost all of my interfaces are Red instead of green, even though all the interfaces are indeed up and running. Infrastructure Views copy, not import to a New view
Why can't I create my own custom Infrastructure View, and not "suck" all the devices out of the other views. Also would like to NOT apply a template to the devices, but let them keep their properties Business Views don't work, so thought I would give Infrastructure Views a try. Imagine my shock when I imported using the Domain Controller template and saw my server all now had Domain Controller dashboard added them. Arghhh.

List view cpu&memory usage custom graphs

Can't add/delete Server objects
OpManager deleted some of my servers when I accidental did a import into a new Enterprise View and made all the servers domain controllers. Shame on me for not reading the docs, it also killed all my exchange monitoring which I had to re-do. Now I can't add my servers back, need to force the mysql database to purge out deleted objects. This is a Dual Proc, server with 4 cores and fast SCSI drives with 4gigs of ram.
OpMgr won't monitor my exchange 200 servers
I have setup the exchange monitor as required, yet, it won't even finish the wizard. The wizard asks me to fill in the location of the mailbox stores, public and private. I did this and it doesn't give me an option to continue. I know that WMI works, I can use the freeware solarwinds exchange monitor tool that uses WMI and I can get all the message stats, etc. Support has been absent in answering my ticket #4180677 which was put in @ 3pm on 9/18. :(
Can't edit Business views MAPS in Flash
It doesn't matter what browser or what PC, Business views won't let me add to the map. Cache cleared, nothing, firefox, nothing, ie6 nothing, Ie7 same issue. What gives?
Exchange 2007 monitoring
Hi all, I'm monitoring Exchange 2007 with OpManager. Everything seems to be ok but for some reason, the "messages sent per minute" field is showing 0 messages. Os ther emore config i need to do to get this to monitor the sent messages? Also, how can you edit the settings for the Exchange monitor? i need to change the mailbox databse path. Matt H

Customer Login Hide desktop management
We allow some of our customers access to the central control panel so that they can look over their devices etc. For those customers who DONT use/have the desktop management feature, it would be nice to be able to hide this in the inteface when they log in. Could this be added into the access controls for user accounts please.
