Is it possible to change the ownership of particular folder using the permission management option in desktop central?. I am able to change security permission of a folder, but unable to find any option for changing the folder ownership. Regards Jobin

Desktop Central from Windows XP to Server 2012

Using computer configuration - Shortcut
I am testing this configuration to place an icon on the desktop of all users for all computers in our domain. I've specified the target application both manually as well as clicking the browse button and navigating to it but it places a blank icon on the desktop that just points to the C:\ drive. I've also included the Start in Folder to no avail. The shortcut should point to a application on a network drive. Is this a known bug or am I not doing something right? We're on build 80268.
File Copy user variables
We're trying to setup a job to copy Microsoft office template files to C:/Users/userid/appdata/roaming/Microsoft/tempates and other similar folders. The default variable of "$userappdata" appears to go to Documents and Settings. With Windows 7 (and later) this doesn't work since the path is to "Users". I'm assuming this is the issue since the file copy isn't working. Is this a compatibility issue or is there a different variable or is there another way of doing this? Thanks
order of collection wizard
i have a process i want to run on our PCs. I want to first send a message box that will say we are going to update a program. then if that program is running kill the process and then copy a file that is running. If i build a collection i can choose custom script, file and folder operation and message box. It seems to always put the custom script first but i want it to be second and wait 60 seconds before it copies the file. Thanks

Question about setting up email server
Is it possible to setup the email server for email notifications if you have a pop based hosted email? Or is it only for local exchange servers? I've tried my comcast server, etc but the following when i hit ok or test email Failed to apply Mail server configuration.
Rename "admin" username for Desktop Central
Hi, I would like to know if we can rename the "admin" username in Desktop Central to someting else. I know from the application it can't be done, only the password, but in the db (MS SQL) , if i rename it, will it cause any issue ? If it's possible, where i can change it ? Thanks

When you create an automated patch deployment you have the option for it to send you an email when it has completed. Is it possible to report on the existence of a specific file on a machine or a particular type of file? I have several scenarios in mind, one would be to report on the existence of a log file that is generated by a script I run at startup, the second scenario would be to report on users that have .pst files stored locally. User administration DC8 -Role
Hello, i have one problem with defining roles for user. In User Administration i created new Role: Service_Desk and on Configuration module i gave permission Read Only. In that case my SD technician can see all configuration that i created but cant select target for deploy (Computer name or anything else) and that's problem for me. shared network printer not detecting while browsing
I have added an IP printer in one PC and shared it. But it is not getting detected while browsing for printers, however some other printers are detecting. If I add the path manually, it is giving me an error that "driver can not be installed, access denied". What could be the reason?. Regards Jobin

Adding Services Under Configuration
Hi, Under Configuration > Add Configuration > Computer Configuration > Services I was trying to add some new services that are not available by default. Power settings not deploying properly.
I am playing around and testing with the power scheme settings available in Desktop Central. I deployed a scheme that basically has the Shutdown button set to power off the test unit when the button is pressed, as well as when sleep button is pressed. I verified the test laptop's power settings to see if they changed. The correct scheme name was deployed and set active, but everything seems to be set to default - everything is set to "SLEEP" for the button presses. Currently using the newest build:
Deploying HOSTS files
I am wanting to push down an updated HOSTS file to our remote site computers. What would be the easiest way to achieve this? I've had no issues deploying other software and patches to these computers in the past but not sure the best way to deploy the updated HOSTS file. It would just be replacing the existing one that is currently on their system. All of these computers are Windows XP Pro SP3 systems.

We have add our Mac lately in Desktop Central. At Intel, the service tag field, is the machine serial and serial number field is the serial of operating System. but, in Macinthosh the service tag is empty and serial number field is the serial of machine and not the operating system serial number Is this correct or a bug ??
Problem with Client Mac
I have Destkop Central Build No:80234. When I install a client Mac, I'm all steps and it´s shows the mac has been installed correctly but in the SOM, never appears in the inventory. The Mac computer has no proxy or firewall. Where are the logs on the Mac to see the problem? Thanks
Problem with deploying on Win7/8 configuration. Access denied
Hello, I have problem with deploying configuration on Hosts with Win7 and Win8 OS. Configuration deployed ok on Host with Win XP but all new hosts with W7 and W8 has error Access denied. GPO are the same on all hosts so creditional are the same. I really dont know what is the problem... I saw in forum history that can be problem in WMI and open ports on Win7. User Configuration - Deploy shortcut

Configuration that i created, deploy shortcut first time when user is log in, but next day when user log in another computer with his account shortcut is not deployed - ( because configuration deployed first time ADME for DC i think operation is completed)... Grouping templates
I would be great if you could group software deployments and collections together as a single template for deployment. We currently have a configuration that I use as a template that deploys three software packages. We then also have a collection that deploys an ico file to the PC long with two icons. It would be great if these multiple configurations could be groups together somehow so the whole thing could be grouped in one step
Add archive option to configurations
Dear Support, In list of configurations, would it be possible to add an "archive" option? Currently there is "global view" and "my view" - it would be good to have an option to archive them, and then only show what you want to mark as "live configurations". "Archiving" a configuration would have the effect of hiding it from the general global or my view, and have a separate option to view archived configurations. Still retain the ability to copy an archived config to live as a new configuration.
Migration DC8 on another IP adress what with Agents.
When i installed DC8 and create first DC agent -my mistake was that i puted IP adress in agent to communicate with server now i know that i had put HOSTNAME for server now i wouldn't have that problem. Now i need migrate server on new ip range and i know that i will lost communication with agents.
