Monitoring Weblogic
I'm having problems setting up a monitor for a Weblogic 8.1 server in Applications Manager 7. I have added -Dweblogic.disableMBeanAuthorization=true and -Dweblogic.management.anonymousAdminLookupEnabled=true to my Weblogic startup. However, I think there is still a problem registering the MBean. In the AM7 stderr.txt, I get the entry shown below. 123.45.67.89 is the IP address of my Applications Manager server. Any suggestions? Thanks Matt 12 Mar 2007 15:17:00:375 javax.management.ServiceNotFoundException:

Removing IIS Web Sites & Services Not Running
Working with demo and looking for two things. First, the IIS monitor has found all the web sites. After this, we removed one from IIS. However, the monitor still sees it, or at least complains it cannot see it. How do we tell the monitor that site is now gone? Second, while we run a few specific services on that box, there are a few that are NOT running. Can we monitor a service to make sure it is NOT running? For example, the telnet service is there, but disabled. It should never be enabled. We'd

I have set up Monitoring Groups. These groups consist of Windows Servers, Oracle databases and WebLogic application servers. On their own, these elements show availability and health, however when you attempt to view the Monitor Groups health and availability it is unknown (grey button, not green). I cannot find any errors or communication problems. What is going on? Kenneth McCord

I have a couple servers that are up but not showing "available" in the app manager. For example our Exchange server has SNMP enabled and is able to be connected to, pinged, what-not, but is still showing unavailable. I have just activated WMI SNMP in hopes that it will help. It did not. 1. Do I have to remove and re-add the montior for the exchange server in order for it to operate? 2. What needs to be done to bring this server online and reliable with app manager? statadmin

Timezone not correct
I'm in the US and my Application Manager time does not match my server time. I have read the DST Changes post, and my java version is 1.5.0_06 so that shouldn't be an issue. My server is set for GMT time but the Application Manager shows a time of 1 hr greater than GMT. My server platform is RHEL4. Please advise. Thanks, A. Cline

In adventnet console, when monitoring an MBean through JMX, if i watch the graph for an attribute that is from double type, the return value is always equal to 0 whereas from the Sun's JConsole i have the right value. Any idea of what should be done ? I've tried many values (counter, not-counter, and even String ;-p), but nothing to do, i can't get the right value ... and then set the threshold in an efficient way. Notice is that it is for a demo of the product, i know that your product is very fine,
?:Creating an Alert on Content in a File System monitor
Hi, I have created a file system monitor, watching a local file, and I have specified a "Check For Content" string. How do I configure an alert on the appearance of this string in the file? The only attributes I see for alerting are "Change in File Size" and "File Size". (I would also like to alert if the file has not been changed in the past x minutes, also.) Thank you.

I am trying to get the JMX monitor to work through a firewall. I start the application with -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.port=8303 -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.authenticate=false -Dcom.sun.management.jmxremote.ssl=false When I try to connect with the JMX monitor it times out. It looks like it is also trying to connect on a random port in addtion to 8303 according to the firewall logs. I am told this is due to the rmi connection that JMX uses. And I need to use something like service:jmx:rmi://localhost:3000/jndi/rmi://localhost:8303/serve
Monitors > Sun Solaris > <SERVER>'s Process Deta
In "Monitors > Sun Solaris > <SERVER>" view, I clicked on "Add New Process" and selected a process with "Process Name", smbd. There are >300 instances of this. The CPU utilization for smbd processes remains at 0% at all time! This is not the case if there is only ONE instance of the process running, i.e. the CPU utilization will be shown correctly. Is Applications Manager able to accumulate the CPU utilization for several instances of the same process? Thanks for this great tool though :D

Response Times
Hi, would someone please clarify how exactly the response times are calculated for each type of monitoring in Applications Manager? What is the process involved? From what I've read, for Database servers the response time is the time taken by the Applications Manager to establish a JDBC connection to that database. For Services, the response time is the time taken to connect to the port, execute the given command and search the string. Could someone please provide the process involved for calculating

What's New in Release 7.3?
Good day, In the Release Notes for 7.3, it is said that : - Availability and Health realtime snapshot report for Monitor Groups added Q1) We don't see any difference from the prior version (7201). Can you please tell us how to get this new report and what benefits it gives us? Q2) We don't understand why an unmanaged monitor, or a monitor that cannot be polled (bad password for example), still show up in green. Shouldn't it show up in grey or another color? Thanks and keep up the great work! Pierre
