Windows Update says important patches are needed... Patch Scan says no updates are necessary
Hello, I just finished applying 20 updates (both Microsoft and Third Party) to a Windows 7 desktop. Now, Windows Update on this system is telling me that two IMPORTANT updates still need to be applied: KB 2984976 KB 2952664 I've synchronized my patch database but still do not see either of these patches available. My questions are as follows: 1) Why are these patches not available? 2) How do I manually download these patches and insert them into the database so they can be automatically deployed?
Question on patching
Hi, I'm doing a trial of Desktop Central and have a few questions around patching. I have just finished updating my workstation and applying all patches reported as being required. I then restarted and rescanned my workstation with DC telling me I'm fully patched. Now when I run a Windows Update it tells me I have 12 important and 6 optional patches available. While I understand that some of these are not supported by DC, at least 3 of them are security updates for .Net. The KB numbers for these
Adobe Flash zero day Hacking Team patch
Any idea when Flash 18.0.0.203 will be added to the patch database? I just manually synced and it's still not there.
Desktop Central Linux Agent Available Patches
Hi, It would be great if in Desktop Central could show the available patches of a Linux Server as another tab when viewing the computers details. Such as what is returned SUSE when you run zypper lu Thanks Phil
Patch deployment to remote office computers
We have a pool of laptop users who rarely come in to the office. Currently they are setup as a remote office so that we can enable reporting over the internet. Is it possible to setup a schedule for patch deployment over the internet for them or do they have to be on the same network as the DesktopCentral server for it to work?
Problem while Changing Patch Store Directory - "Invalid Patch Store Location
hello, I have installed ManageEngine Desktop Central version 91025 in Windows 2008. I haven't any space in disk. I want to change location folder to downloads to san. I tried to connect a "map network drive" ex. (net use w: \\ip\folder) I tried to connect a "share folder" in a SAN by nfs ex. (mount 10.10.10.203:/patchs r:) but it does not work. It shows this message: " Please enter a valid Patch Store location" and I read the kb https://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/patch_store_invalid.html?dci
Patches Getting Approved Unintentionally
My instance of Desktop Central is set for Manual Approval of patches. I do not intend to approve any patch for general release until it has been tested - usually 30 days after release. I find now that several patches that have a release date of this week are marked as "Approved". The Approval Settings are set to Manual. The Action Log doesn't show any record of the approvals. Not all patches are getting approved and I can't find any correlation to which are getting approved and which are not.
Can DC detect MS patches that are installed on a PC even if no DC Patch update has been released?
Need to know if DC can detect an installed MS patch such as the recently released KB3035583. We have PCs that have Windows Update active and this patch apparently has been rated as "unrated' and then upgraded to "important" and we think it may be now rated as "Critical". This means that WU will install it on many of our PCs. We are interested in DC detecting it (but we will not approvoe it - so DC not deploying) and then issuing the uninstall command and then hide the patch from Windows Update.
Post 9.1 upgrade, auto deployment task yet to deploy
I'm on day 1 after upgrading our site to 9.1. This morning's auto patch deployment job at 0200 of ~15 servers still has them all at "yet to deploy" (as of 0900). My concern is the scan detail for the patch deployment job was successful for all of them, but if I drill into any one server's details it shows its last scan time of last week. Applying configurations from the agent on the server appears to do nothing. I'm starting here in case I've missed something w/ the 9.1 upgrade. Thanks! Jess
Approved patches loose there approved status
I've been finding that once I approve patches they can loose their 'approved' status after a day or two. I've logged the patches I have approved (to make sure I'm not remembering patches approvals incorrectly). I've also checked the patch approvals I've made shortly after I did them (I haven't found any problems with patches not approving initially). I'm running build 91002. For example if I look at patch approvals today, I can see patch number 17556 (MS15-043 aka KB3049563) is marked unapproved.
Dll version not changing
Everyone When we install MS15-029 the following system file have to make the following changes | C:\Windows\system32\wmphoto.dll has not been patched | | Remote version : 6.2.9200.16492 | | Should be : 6.2.9200.17254 | But while deploying from manage engine it is not changing the version. I can physically see the patch is installed on the workstation. Any idea why is it happening? Anish
Custom report for third party vulnerabilities
The existing report for vulnerable systems is inadequate, so I've turned to looking at custom reports in hopes it will be able to do what we need. This report needs to have only a few data fields. Ideally, this report needs to display the domain names, the software titles and versions, whether or not the machine is up to date, and the last time the domain name was scanned. Our previous solution was extremely archaic but we were able to create reports with a row at the top for software name and version

When are new patches available?
MS releases new patches on the second Tuesday of every month. We would like to set up our patch schedule as quickly as these patches are available in DTC. However, we updated our patch database repeatedly yesterday and did not see any new patches available. This morning we do see patches released on May 12. We just need an exact time table so we can configure our Database update and patch scheduling accordingly. Thank you.

Report to show all timed tasks on all accounts
Hi! How could I make a report/dashboard that would show all automated patch tasks on all accounts in one simple view. Now when we have a lot of customers with automated patch deployment activated it's hard to check progress and scheduled times for each customer. It would be nice if there was single report to show all customers tasks at once.
Deploy Patch with computer offline
Hi -- What the best way to manage this process. We need to rollout a patch to 50 machines. 5 of those machines are laptops which are offline. They all have the agent installed. Will those 5 machines get the patch once they reconnect to the network? I don't want to keep tabs on what each machine has installed or not I just want to rollout a patch and have every machine get at some point if they are online or offline How does DTC handle this and what settings need to be set Thanks
New iTunes patch 12.1.2 isn't detected as missing from Win 8.1 machine with iTunes 11.4 installed
We're running build 90145, and there's a new iTunes patch detection, as of last night, for iTunes v12.1.2. One of our Win 8.1 (x64) Dell tablets has iTunes 11.4 installed. Its patch summary had been showing that it needs the latest iTunes patch 12.x installed. Now this morning, it's no longer showing that it needs the iTunes patch v12.1.2. Have you intentionally changed the logic of Patch Mgmt to only show iTunes v11.x patches for installed versions < v12.0? Or is the new patch 12.1.2 just not

Missing Patches from Supported list
Hello There appears to be some additional patches missing from the list of those supported by desktop central, compared to Windows Update Primarily this - KB2956171 : March 10, 2015 update for Office 2013 I don't understand why it wouldn't be in the list. However these two are also missing - which i can sort of understand, but are still OS updates KB2952664 KB3035583 Kind Regards, Daniel
Patch Management Desktop Icons
Hi, Is there a way to update patches on machines and not create desktop icons. When i run patch manager on machines, users get desktop icons of the applications just installed. Then they can not delete them without admin rights. Is there a way to not have the icons appear on users desktop? Thanks
Configuring Windows Update settings
How we should configure Windows Update settings when we use Desktop Central MSP for deploying patches to all Windows clients and servers? Should we disable WU completely via GPO or what is the best practice? I cant find any documentation that answers to my question.
Patch Deployment
Hello, We are currently using Desktop Central and want to automate patch deployment, we have got it working and installing the patches but after the reboot it fails to scan again and continue installing new patches, is there a way to do this.? Thanks and kind regards David
Automate Patch Deployment - Many APD tasks or Single APD task with many patches?
Hi I'm creating APD's for different third party vendor's - such as Adobe \ Java etc Which will create quite a few tasks Is it better to create one task and add all the 3rd party patches to that or create separate ones as I'm doing. How does scanning cope with lots of APD's potentially running at the same time? Andy
Patch detection for Mozilla Firefox 37.0.1?
I'm not seeing any patch detection for Mozilla Firefox v37.0.1, which became available starting April 3rd (three days ago). Is there a reason for the delay? According to the official Release Notes: https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/37.0.1/releasenotes/ there are some important security and bug fixes in this release, and I'd like the ability to scan and patch our enterprise workstations as soon as possible. (Yes, I understand that I could push the entire Firefox v37.0.1 package out to all affected
Patches deployment
Hello, When patches are deployed, are they being pushed to the servers/workstations, thus, filling up valuable space ? If so, where do change the settings so these patches are deleted once installed ? Thanks, - Harry
Third Party Patches - need to be able to select which of these patches impact System Health stats
the inclusion of TP patches in the calculation of System Health status is not working as my team would prefer. We want to automatically apply patches (approval) and we want to specify which TP patches are included in the calculation of PC Health. The recent inclusion of CCleaner is an example. We do not need PCs that are missing that patch to be reported as "vulnerable". Instead, if they were "healthy", we desire them to remain healthy for our tracking purposes. Is this on the road map and if
How to scan for BOTH "Important" and "Optional" Updates
Hello, How do I configure Desktop Central to automatically scan for both "Important" AND "Optional" Windows updates? Anthony
How do i confirm that a Win Service Pack is downloaded?
Sorry for the beginner question but I am just getting into this software. I have a job scheduled to install a Service Pack at a scheduled time in the future. When setting up my configuration I selected the flag to download the SP prior to the deployment time. However all the information on the deployment task shows pending until deployment time. How can I verify that the pre deployment task of downloading the SP by the host has been completed? Under download details under details of my deployment
Initiate installing Patches from Client
Hi I have an APD task that scans, downloads and drafts the patches to be rolled out on some critical servers. Rather than click on deploy within DTC is there a way of initiating the install from the client, so I can do one server at a time similar to WSUS? I know I can create jobs within DTC and push but I want to be able to pull approved patches to a custom group of servers. Thanks Andy
New Skype Update not showing up in Desktop Central
It looks like there's a new skype release that has been out since the beginning of the month, version 7.2.32.103. The patch management database in Desktop Central is still on 7.2.0.103. When will it be updated? Thanks Sam
Automate Patch Deployment doesn't wake up PCs
I have an automate patch deployment task which uses this deployment policy: http://screencast.com/t/SUszXEHIVhr As you can see, this task should wake up the PCs. But it doesn't. We can wake up the PCs manually from MEDC, so this is not the issue. Do we have a configuration problem? (we are still evaluating, so bear with us).
Missing Patches from Supported List
Hello - These two patches seem to be missing from list of available patches to deploy March 10, 2015 update for Lync 2013 (KB2956174) Update for Microsoft Outlook Social Connector 2013 (KB2737996) It may be the DC doesn't see that these are supported, but my windows update shows them as being missing. I do have LYNC 2013 installed Thank you Daniel
Vulnerability DB not getting Windows Patches - No Errors
I setup a new server to help speed up patching on reinstalls of windows, and to add some custom settings to refurbished PCs. I then restored another server onto this install (it already had the custom settings I wanted), deleted all clients and remote sites not needed. I started using this server for all new rerolls to save on bandwidth and DL times for each PC to DL the same 180 patches. but the Vulnerability check keeps coming back with 0 patches missing. The DB updates daily and manually without
Patch Management Automated scan
I am having two issues with Desktop Central Automated Patch Scan. 1) I can not seem to create an automated windows patch scan from any other machine except the server where DC sits. Anytime I try to add computers to the list of targets, I get a message that Desktop Central is not reachable. This happens across any machine that is not the server. 2) Automated scan runs, but it stated no computers were scanned when I receive the confirmation email. I set up for an ou to be scanned. It sees the machines
Desktop Central not detecting MSRT on XP
Hello, Having just completed a Patch Scan with the most recent Patch database on one of my XP systems, I discovered something interesting... The XP system is telling me that an update to the MSRT tool (KB 890830) is available. Unfortunately, Desktop Central is telling me that no patches are available for this system. Shouldn't Desktop Central still detect this available update? Anthony
Detailed explanation of Execution status for Patch Deployments
I understand most of the possible status labels, but I'm unclear about a couple of things. Yet to Apply- Sometimes a patch (or patches) are show this status but there is no obvious reason why the patch is not installing. the computer is found on the network and has responded to a Patch Scan from Desktop Central. Success - This seems obvious, but maybe it's not. Does Success mean that the patch has been both downloaded to the target AND installed? And if it was installed AND required a reboot,
When will the patches for March's Patch Tuesday be available?
It is now the 2nd Tuesday of the month of March. When will the Microsoft Patches for this month be available in Desktop Central's Patch Database? Anthony

Can Teamviewer be listed under the Applications tab?
Hello, Under Software Deployment -> Patch Scan, clicking on each machine provides three tabs: Applications, Missing Patches, and Installed Patches. For some reason, the TeamViewer application is not listed under the Applications tab. Is it possible to have the TeamViewer application listed under the Applications tab along with any patches applied? Thanks Anthony
