The technician is unable to view or modify scheduled automation in ADManager Plus

The technician is unable to view or modify scheduled automation in ADManager Plus

Issue description

In ADManager Plus, scheduled automations are configured by default to be accessible only to the technician who created them and the built-in administrator. As a result, help desk technicians may be unable to view or modify automations they did not create. This restriction ensures security and control over automation tasks. However, unless appropriate help desk roles are delegated, other technicians will be restricted from accessing these automations, potentially limiting collaboration and task management.

Possible causes

  1. The technician has not shared the automation with others: By default, scheduled automation is only visible to the built-in administrator and the technician who created it.

  2. Insufficient permissions: The technician lacks the necessary delegation rights to execute or modify the automation, preventing any changes or actions.

Prerequisites

Before proceeding, ensure:

  • You have administrator access in ADManager Plus or permissions to delegate automation.

Resolution

Follow these steps to grant the required permission for the technician.

  1. Log in to ADManager Plus as the technician who created the automation or as the built-in admin account.

  2. Navigate to Automation.

  3. Hover over the required automation and then click Share.

  4. Add the required technician(s) and assign appropriate permissions (View, Edit, and Execute).

  5. Click Save.

Tips

  • Always share automation with relevant technicians during creation to avoid access issues later.

  • Regularly review and update roles (Delegation > Help Desk Roles) to ensure appropriate permissions.

  • Use role-based delegation instead of individual assignments for easier management.
