Error: "No data available in the WMI class, or the WMI class is unavailable" (in MS Office SharePoint Monitor)

This error indicates that the SharePoint monitor is unable to fetch data due to:
  1. Missing or inaccessible WMI classes on the target SharePoint server, or
  2. Issues with WMI connectivity or permissions.

Troubleshooting Steps

For Applications Manager version 15470 and above:
  1. Navigate to Settings  Self Help Tools 
  2. Choose the monitor type as MS Office SharePoint and select the specific monitor and metric. 
  3. Check if WMI data is being retrieved properly.

For Applications Manager versions below 15470:
  1. Open Command Prompt in Administrator mode on the Applications Manager server.
  2. Go to the <Applications Manager Home>\bin\troubleshooting directory.

  3. Execute the SharePoint.bat file.

  4. When prompted, enter the HostnameUsername and Password used in the SharePoint monitor.

  5. Copy the output to a text file for analysis.

Resolving Errors

  1. If you encounter error in Self Help Tools or the SharePoint.bat output, refer to this KB article to troubleshoot basic WMI connection issues.
  2. Check the output if data is available for the respective WMI class. You can copy the WMI class and verify it in the WBEMTEST tool directly in the SharePoint Server if the WMI class is present or data is available for that respective WMI class.
