How to manage diskspace by setting up number of days to delete old alerts and schedule reports
Objective
This article explains how to manage disk space in ManageEngine ADAudit Plus by automatically deleting old alerts and scheduled report files stored in the product directory. This helps optimize storage usage, especially in high-volume environments, and prevents unnecessary disk space consumption over time.
Prerequisites
Access to the ADAudit Plus web console.
A user account with administrator privileges or a technician account with delegated access to the configuration options in ADAudit Plus.
Ensure that configured retention periods comply with your organization's data governance or audit log retention policies.
Steps to follow
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console as an administrator or with a technician account with delegated permissions to create or modify alerts.
Navigate to Admin > Configuration > Alerts/Reports.
Under the available cleanup options:
Enter the number of days for retention (e.g., 30 days). All alerts and scheduled reports older than the specified number of days will be deleted automatically.
Click Save to apply the settings.

Step 2: Manually trigger cleanup (optional)
If you prefer to delete old data immediately rather than waiting for the next scheduled cleanup, you can manually trigger the process by clicking Run Now next to Delete Old Alerts or Delete Old Scheduled Report Files, respectively.

Validation and confirmation
Allow the system to run its next scheduled cleanup cycle.
Navigate to the respective folders in the ADAudit Plus installation directory. (Default location: C:\ManageEngine\ADAudit Plus\webapps\adap\scheduled reports)
Track available disk space on the ADAudit Plus server before and after the cleanup.
Tips
Set a realistic retention period for most environments. Keeping alerts and reports for 30 to 60 days is sufficient unless longer retention is required for compliance.
If scheduled reports are used for compliance or audit submission, archive copies externally before enabling cleanup.
