How to install ADAudit Plus on a server

 Objective   

This article guides you through the process of installing ADAudit Plus, a real-time Active Directory auditing and reporting solution. We recommend you to install ADAudit Plus on a dedicated Windows server.

 Prerequisites   

  • Operating systems (64-bit only)

    • Windows Server 2025, 2022, 2019, 2016, 2012 R2, 2012, or 2008 R2

    • Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7

  • Supported vrowsers

    • Chrome, Firefox, Edge, Opera

  • RAM: 4 GB or more

  • Disk space: 15 GB or more. This can be dynamic depending on your ADAudit Plus product growth

  • To install ADAudit Plus, the user who is deploying the ADAudit Plus executable must have the rights to install applications on the intended server. Also, the aforementioned user should be able to install, create, and modify folders in the dedicated partition (i.e. C:\Program Files\ManageEngine\ADAudit Plus)

  • Java Runtime Environment (bundled with the installer)

  • .NET Framework 4.5 or above


 Steps to follow 

  1. Visit the ManageEngine ADAudit Plus download page.

  2. Download the latest 64-bit installer for your system.

  3. Run the downloaded .exe file as an administrator and follow the on-screen prompt.

  4. License Agreement: Accept the terms.

  5. Choose Installation Directory: Select or confirm the installation path.

  6. Port Selection: Choose the port (default is 8081).

  7. Select Start Menu Folder: Confirm or create a new folder.

  8. Click Install to begin the process.

  9. Once done, click Finish.

  10. After installation, ADAudit Plus automatically opens in your default browser.

  11. Log in with default credentials (username: admin, password: admin).

 

 Validation and confirmation   

To confirm the installation is successful:

  1. Open a web browser and navigate to http://<hostname>:8081

  2. Ensure the ADAudit Plus login page loads.

  3. Log in and check whether the dashboard is accessible.

 

 Tips 

  • Always install ADAudit Plus on a dedicated auditing server for optimal performance.

  • Use a static IP address on the host server.

  • Immediately change the default login credentials post-installation.

  • Configure mail server settings for alerting.

  • Regularly back up ADAudit Plus configuration and audit data.

  • Change ADAudit Plus to run in SSL port (https) with immediate effect. More info can be found here.
