How can I view archived audit reports and manage archive settings using ADManager Plus?

Objective 

ADManager Plus allows archiving audit data related to help desk technician activities. However, many users may not know how to retrieve archived audit reports or configure archive settings correctly. This can lead to difficulties in auditing historical actions or maintaining compliance with data retention policies.

Prerequisites   

  • ADManager Plus is installed and accessible with proper login credentials.

  • Audit Reports in ADManager Plus is enabled.

  • The archive location is accessible to the ADManager Plus server with Write permissions.

 Steps to follow 

Step 1: View the archived audit reports   

  1. Log in to ADManager Plus.

  2. Navigate to the Delegation tab > Audit Help Desk Reports > Audit Report.

  3. Click Manage Archives in the top-right corner and select View Archives.

  4. In the Select Archive pop-up, choose the desired audit report and click OK.

  5. In the Select Help Desk Technicians field, pick the relevant technician(s) and click OK.

  6. Under Period, select a predefined range or choose Custom Range and set the From and To dates. Then, click Apply.

  7. Enable Restore Workflow Requests if you want to include archived automation requests.

  8. Enable Restore Orchestration Audits if you want to include archived orchestration requests.  

  9. Click Go to generate and view the archived audit report.

Step 2: Configure the archive settings  

  1. Navigate to the Delegation tab > Audit Help Desk Reports > Audit Report.

  2. Click Manage Archives in the top-right corner and select Archive Settings.

  3. Under Retain archives files for, choose how long (in years) the archived data should be retained.

  4. In the Archive Location field, provide a valid file system path that the ADManager Plus server can access.

  5. Click Save to apply the changes.

Tips   

  • Ensure the archive location has enough disk space and is not restricted by firewall or OS-level permissions.

  • Regularly review and adjust archive intervals and retention periods to meet audit and compliance requirements.

  • Use consistent technician naming and time filters to streamline archived data review.

  • Consider backing up the archive directory periodically as part of your disaster recovery plan.
