How can I set a default template for a help desk technician using ADManager Plus?

Objective  

This article explains how to assign a default user creation template to a help desk technician using ADManager Plus. Using templates ensures consistency by predefining fields such as department, office, group memberships, and naming formats. Assigning a default template streamlines the user provisioning process, reduces manual errors, and limits technician access to only the required configuration fields, supporting both operational efficiency and security.

Prerequisites 

  • Access to ManageEngine ADManager Plus as an administrator.

  • Pre-created templates available in the system.

  • Help desk technician or technician role created and configured.

 Steps to follow 

  1. Log in to ADManager Plus using an administrator account.

  2. Go to the Delegation tab > Help Desk Delegation > Help Desk Technicians.

  3. Select the technician created using the desired template.

  4. In the technician’s profile, click the Assign Templates field.

  5. Click the Default template icon next to the template you want to set as default.

  6. Click Save Changes to apply the update.

 Tips 

  • Ensure that templates are well defined and tested before setting them as the default.

  • You can assign different default templates for different technician roles if needed.

  • Regularly review and update templates to align with evolving support workflows.
