OpManager won't start after update
Hi community, after updating OpManager 7202 to 8006 it won't start any more! Hangs at about 75%, "Configuration completed" ==================================================== INFO | jvm 1 | 2009/04/06 16:42:11 | No response from the Primary Server as it may not be running. Unable to connect. INFO | jvm 1 | 2009/04/06 16:42:11 | INFO | jvm 1 | 2009/04/06 16:42:11 | Primary Server may not have been properly shutdown in the last run, resulting in the Database not being properly updated. Database and Application Migration issue
We have moved our Database to a new SQL 2005 server, and we have installed the application on a new server, and we are able to connect and see all the business views and devices, but we are unable to view any historical data, such as port utilization, dashboard information, etc. It's like it is starting from scratch. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
Upgraded to Opmanager 8 and Drive Space report issue
Just recently upgraded to Opmanager 8 last week. When the Drive Space Report gets email it has reverted back all jumbled up, it was like this in Opmanager 7 until Kevin at Opmanager fixed it. This mind you took over a year to get a resolution which is pretty poor. It was promised so many times in hotfixes but some files were copied to sort this out! Hopefully this can be resolved in version 8 asap please as we use this report everyday. Also in version 8 the graphic displays have also disappeared
Missing interface stats on V8
We are looking at OpManager for a couple of customers. I have V7 running on one machine and V8 running on another beside it. When I add a Nortel ERS 5520-24T-PWR switch the V7 config shows port statistics and graphs, but the V8 only shows N/A and No Data. Under V8 to see this data do I need the Network version ?
Hotfix 8006 released

How to monitor Informix with OpManager
Hi all, I am trying to find a way to monitor Informix with OpManager. I have managed the RedHat server that it resides on. But unsure how to go about the Informix side of things. I used the monitor scripting and that works and outputs queries to a output.txt file, but it seems that functionality only works with Application Manager, not OpManager? I also heard that you can monitor Informix with SNMP but do not know the OID's etc. Any help in this would be much appreciated. Regards Joel
VM's not showing up on ESX 3.5 server
Hi, I have 6 ESX 3.5 servers and 5 of them are showing up fine in Opmanager but the last one stubbornly refuses to display any VM's that are running on it. Using the mib browser I can see the VM info pulled from the server and I have double checked all the snmp settings on the host but still not having any luck. Anyone got any tips or suggestions? cheers Harvey
Business Views - Cannot edit
Hi, We currently are having a problem editing the Business View maps both in MapMaker desktop client and the Web edit, both timeout. The MapMaker application lets adds/deletion from the map but does not allow customization of the individual icons or sizes, it displays nothing when right clicking and then selecting Properties. We are running OpManger 7204 with a Microsoft SQL backend. Please advise. Thanks Chris Gibbs
Change opmanager tomcat default port 8005
Dear Support, I installed another application (running tomcat as well) on the server running licensed opmanager 7205 and opmanager service fails to start. Have trace the wrapper log and it shows that the port 8005 is in use. I have tried to change the port number in server.xml in tomcat conf directory but upon restarting opmanager services, the server.xml file is been replaced back with the original copy. I need to run both application running tomcat on the same server. Pls advise how to change opmanager

MSSQL not running on this server (on a SQL server)
I'm getting this message when I try to add an MSSQL performance monitor. Also, it says the MSSQL windows services are not running, even though they are showing when I click "discover services". My credential tests says snmp/wmi passed.
Server Availability Report Error
Hi, I am facing a issue, when i click All server Availability report, if i select last month from report option it is showing all 10 available server but when i select custom period it is only showing 6 server. Kindly someone help me for the issue. Thanks for the support. Vimal
Interface Refresh
On all of my switches we use the description to name what the port is connected to which changes occasionally. I have tried to do a rediscovery and it did not update them to the new description's that had been changed. What I ended up doing is removing the device and re-adding it in order for it to be updated. Is there a better way to accomplish this? If so is there a way to schedule Opmanager to check that value on a periodic basis? Thanks, Joe
UPS Dials not working
We have 2 devices selected as Powerware 9390. The monitors all work and collect data, but the UPS Load and UPS Status dials are not populating. Are we missing something? There were earlier posts about modifying ups_monitors.xml (the data for the Powerware 9390 is not in the file), which I've tried. Shouldn't standard devices already be in the .xml file? Monitor APC Switched Rack PDU

Problems with SDp on same server
Hi, We have some problems. We are running SDP 7506, we recently installed opmanager 8006 on the same server. We were unable to get opmanager to work, after troubleshooting we changed the ports and now it is working. When we have both op manager and SDP open in ie7 in seperate tabs op manager; *every time we click on a link in op manager ie. to look at a business view we need to log back in *when clicking on the dashboard link it shows nothing If we close the SDP tab op manager works correctly again

Business views and maps need overhaul!
Hoping others will add to this, as some posts were added to the snap shot page sticky and was off topic. I think the maps and business views are in need of a major overhaul! Besides the ability to edit in the web view instead of on the server itself, there hasnt been any changes to the maps since it was implemented. Im my opinion (and my coworkers) the edit view looks better than the map itself. the opmanager team added google maps, which some of you obviously like, but since I am in charge of watching
Templates and sysOID
Hi Is it possible to configure more than 1 template for a given sysOID? This would be helpful because I have Win 2k3 server machines with different purposes and I would like to create a template with different monitors and thresholds for each of the different uses. Example; one server is used for process control and I want to monitor disks and cpu usage agressively. On a second server, I have a SQL database that needs different monitoring. On a third, I have a less critical system with less monitoring.
Interface History
I'm only checking out the demo version of OpManager 8, but I have a quesion about History - in this case Interface history. Is there a way of storing more detailed history? If I pull up a WAN interface that I'm monitoring, I see traffic for today. I can click on the little magnifying glass to pull up specific info and change the report options. Detailed history is good for today and yesterday, but if I put in a date/time range for 3 plus days ago for only a 6 hour period, it shows an averaged hourly
horrible trap receiver performance
Hi, We are experiencing horrible performance of the trap receiver in OpManager. After only a few days of operation the time from a trap is sent from a device until it is displayed in OpManager is several hours. This behavior has been observed both using 7102 and 8005. Is there something we can do to speed up the trap receiver? As it is working now it is of no use for detecting problems in our network. Best regards Terje N.
How to delete alert/reset poll status OpManager, details plz
I am needing to develop a work around to the scenario where OpManager notification profiles are only executed on an initial alert and not a repeat on the next and following polls. VOIP eating away revenue?
VOIP is good and I make heavy use of it and save a lot on my national/international calls. I believe that VOIP only benefit consumer and is indirectly eating business of all telecom carrier thereby dent telecom business. Do we see Telecom providers (wireless/wireline) still thrive as did in late 90s and early 2000 while VOIP is penetrating and choking most of the networks.
SSL/CLI Doesnt Seem To Work?
I am running that latest/newest OM 8 in a mixed environment of mostly Linux servers and some Windows servers. I can ssh as root from a shell on the host running OM, to any other monitored server. However, if I use the same root credentials for an ssh connection test in OM, it always fails? Any suggestions?

Unable to add devices
Hello guys, I wonder if anyone of have faced this issue earlier... I have recently bought a license of OpManager 8.0 Premium for 300 clients. When i try to add a single device, it says the device added successfully. But when i search for the device, i find nothing. When I discover the entire range of my network, it displays most of the machines as Unknown devices. It also displays some Servers in the list, but it doesn't add any of the servers to the database. It just adds the unknown devices. I
Deleted Device but still says Device exists when readding
I added a device at 192.168.1.240. I then deleted it. Later I needed to add it again. When I do it tells me that the device already exists. The device is not found if you do a search for device. The device does not show up on the map either. Any ideas how to remove it from the database so I can add it again?
Problem with Downtime scheduler
