Corporate Firewall ports
Hi there, We have been running Desktop Central for a little bit now and want to start locking down ports on our coporate firewall that the application does not need to be able to function. When I originally talked to an agent on the phone, I was told to enable specific ports on our coporate firewall (not computer firewall) in order to address issues with talking to computers that were not physically located within our network (jobsite systems, laptops, etc). User notification for patches
Greetings! We have some reports of users not being able to shut down or restart while DC is working. No notification or any other visual clue. Automated Patch Deployment Not Creating Drafts or Patching
Hello all, I've run into a problem where the both of my automated patching jobs are not executing completely. For my servers, I've asked it to: Scan the Device Download the patches to the server and draft a Configuration (not execute on it) For several days now, only step one is completed. The same goes for my desktops, but instead of drafting, I've asked it to install. After executing twice, none of the desktops have been patched, but all the scans are completing successfully. I have a home based user I would like to put into the Desktop Central. His computer is not part of the domain, but we want to make sure he is updated on patches and maybe remote him for support. Error using Configurations File Folder Operation
Hi all, I am new to ManageEngine, but will be using it A LOT in my new role. I have been asked to delete a folder which is located in C:\Users\%username%\ (Windows 7) on all machines for all users in the domain. To my knowledge this requires using the File Folder Operation utility under Configurations in ME_Desktop. Vulnerability DB Update Fails
I am currently having issues with the vulnerability database on my server not updating. It says that the last successful update was on March 13, and it has failed on every attempt since then. This happens both with the scheduled update and a manual update. If I click on the "Failure" link to get more detail, it just says "Failed to Update the Vulnerability DataBase on 2012-04-26 10:00:00". Is there a log somewhere that will give me more information to try troubleshooting this problem?
Uncompatible Message when Installing 80022 Hotfix
I am currently using a Desktop Central configuration from a patch to 80014. I am attempting to update to install hotfix 80022. After running the Update Manager (yes, the service is stopped) and selecting the .ppm file through the Browse button I receive a message "The ppm file that you have specified is not compatible with this product." server tray icon not found
After I have Tech support to migrate my server from one computer to another computer. It just copy all files of DesktopCentral server folder to another computer. He start the service. It is working, but the tray icon for the server process was not found. I remember, if I install the program by set up process. It will create the tray icon for me. Diskcleanup option - WebClient and WebPublisher Cache?
The system tools of Desktop Central seems to be the red headed stepchild of this software package, nothing is ever added(unfortunately) and its just out there. Be that as it may I'm trying to get some clarification on the the diskcleanup option, specifically what checking the option WebClient and WebPublisher Cache actually does. I previously had just Internet Cache selected hoping that would clean my IE cache's... but that doesn't seem to be doing anything... might the WebClient and WebPublisher
Finding out what service packs are required
Playing around with Desktop central. Patch management seems OK, but not as smooth as I would like it. However, patch management does not show you which service packs are required for a machine. For instance, there are windows 7 SP0 and SP1 in the environment. I would expect that for the non SP machines, it would have a list of missing service packs but I cannot seem to find. This means, that somehow I need to know what service packs are needed in the environment and then deploy them manually.
Wallpaper removed from windows - No wallpaper change is specified
I have created a policy to change the My Computer name to the the actual name of the computer. This is the only change in the display policy. However after the policy is applied the wallpaper resets to a solid black. Reseting the desktop wallpaper manually works... for a few seconds... The only thing I have found that works is to remove the policy again. Any ideas?
Changing manually deployed patches to approved....
Hello I have manually deployed a set of patches to a test machine. I now want to change these patches from "Not Approved" to Approved such that automatic deployment of patches will work, but there is no way of doing this without jotting down the manually applied patches and manually changing them over. Is there another way that this could be done?

Hi We have installed MSPCenterPlus as a trial to see if it will work for us. I am trying to setup the mail server settings. We use Google mail and I followed the instrcutions but I just receive an error when I sent a test email: javax.net.ssl.SSLException.
