File Folder Operation cannot be saved
Dear all, I added a File Folder Operation to copy a configuration file to client computers. I can save this operation, with luck, just one time. After changing something and aditional saving, I recieve an error to add the target folder. But the target folder already exist and it's an folder on the computer. I'm afraid of the blank in the path for this error message. But, how can I save it another way? Greets Manuel

Rename Folders
Hi, I recently had a situation where I needed to rename a folder on a bunch of computers. I had 2 folders that I was working with: Folder and FolderNew The rename was supposed to work like this: Folder --> FolderOld FolderNew --> Folder I used the Configuration for File Folder Operation. I entered in my renames as they appear above. I then saved my configuration. When I went back in and checked, Desktop Central had reversed the order of the folder rename so it looked like this. FolderNew --> Folder
Re: Block EXE
Hi Guys, I'm trying to create a configuration from "Block EXE" template. I'm unable to make it work. In the Block EXE template, I'm making the following changes. sample1.exe to cmd.exe sample2.exe to calc.exe After log off/restart it shows executed and I can even see the values in registry but it's not working as expected. Though, I can make it work if I add registry settings by logging as Administrator. Please help me to deploy Block EXE successfully. Cheers.
installing agents for clients at Distribution Servers
Hi, I currently install the Local Office agent.msi for all clients via a DFS share. Does it really make any difference on what agent.msi I install or should I always install the msi for the Remote Office that the client will mainly reside in? Build 80339 - Configuration save with failed targets not working
Since this update, I create a Configuration for e.g. a Software Deployment and then run it. If I then save as a new Configuration with failed targets, it doesn't populate the selected target area
UIpdating to Build 80339 breaks all my configuration
We are running DesktopCentral Build 80339 on Windows Server 2008 R2 64-bit. Since updating from Build 80332 to Build 80339, all Configurations no longer work. All Software Deployment packages were manually created without using a template. All configurations are packaged as follows: - - Configuration Name - - Installer type - - EXE or MSI Package Name - - Operation type - - Scheduler Settings: Install after: Time / Date - - Deployment Settings
AD Group Configuration Deployement
Hi, As discussed earlier, I was told that if I point a configuration to an AD group, as users are added to the group they will be added to the configuration. I have to modify the configurations and hit deploy again in order for it to see the new users added to the AD group. Am I missing a setting or does it have a set time that it checks for new AD group users and the modify deploy just forces the check? Also, if I hit deploy it always says the switch is not defined for the software package. The
Configuration Status
Quick question. I have a configuration that silently installs software for all users in an AD Group. If the user already has the most current version, will it install over it? If it does, is there a way to filter it to only install on computers that don't already have the newest version? It just says success for the status. Thanks, -Ben
How to set up an IP Printer
Hi, I would like to setup a configuration to push an IP Printer to a computer. I know there is the IP Printer in the config options but I am a bit confused. The box for "Share Network Printer for Driver Installation" We do not share our printers. The typical installation is to enter the IP through Windows Add Printer Wizard then do a "have disk" to the driver on our server. Can I put the driver path on the server in that box? What I would like this to do is I have a Xerox GPD and a HP UPD configurations
Configurations in a package

More Mapped Drives issues
I have a couple of problems with the Mapped Drives feature. When I set up a mapped drive configuration, I want to make sure that the user has a mapped drive pointing to the right location. So I map the Z drive to \\server\folder. But when a user already has the Z drive point to \\serverX\folder the configuration will fail, because the Z drive is already there. So my next step was to add a delete drive Z step to the configuration before it added drive Z. But then the configuration failed when someone

Software Deployment - AD Group Uninstall Policy
Hi, Is there any concept of an "uninstall software policy" or something in Desktop Central? What I mean by this, is for example: I have a Software Deployment Configuration targeted to a Group in Active Directory. If I were to remove a computer from this group, it would be ideal that for during the next agent check-in, the software is then removed from the machine. This would make manageability easier. Thanks
Constant Running Configuration
I would like to have my configuration run constantly on an AD Group so if a new computer is added, it will get this software. If I have a configuration targeted to an AD group, would it not have a status of completed after it has pushed to all the computers in that AD group? Meaning if I add a computer to that AD group a month from now, that configuration would be completed and "executed" and would not run on that new computer. Will the configuration only target to the computers that were in the group

Categories on Tickets
Good morning, I would like to ask you something related to a doubt that I have. I have the site XXX for a particular client, and I would need to create two categories: PPP and MMMM. Applying Configurations for Secure USB....bizarre behavior
I am not sure if this is normal or not....but this is what we are seeing: We apply a computer based configuration which restricts USB and CD-ROM drives. Once applied, this works perfectly. Later, we decide that this PC should be allowed to have CD-ROM access, so I remove the PC from the configuration used to block access. Then I add the PC to another configuration which explicitely permits CDROM, but still blocks USB (because we do not want to allow USB). Upon machine reboot the machine still

Have a Computer Configurations option to move the computer to a different Active Directory OU
You have a good list of Computer configuration actions but one that is missing that we would use is the action of moving the computer to a difference AD Organisational Unit. When we add a new computer to our Domain it is added into a "Build" OU and we have Desktop Central set to auto install the agent to computers in this OU and we have a configuration targeting this OU which installs a few bits of software. We then manually move the computers to the correct OU after the configuration has applied,
Possible to configure Desktop Central managed workstations to download patches from WSUS server?
Hello, My apologies if my questions are clearly documented somewhere already: upon research, I have yet to discover the answers. I am new to Desktop Central and newly managing a Windows 2003 AD domain with GPOs defined for WSUS (prior to implementation of Desktop Central) and using Desktop Central 8 to manage workstation patches. Websense shows multiple instances of Desktop Central managed workstations to visit www.download.windowsupdates.com, some up to 1200x logged instances in a two week period.
Change workgroup name via script on a PC
I need to create a computer script that I can use to change the workgroup name on a PC and make the script flexible so it can be used for different workgroup names. I need to be able to specify the workgroup name when I create the task and it appears the DC Script Argument field is the place to do this. FYI...We have no AD joined workstations. I can execute this command below change the workgroup name to "GRAY-EXT". The workgroup name change requires a reboot but that is straightforward and I

Links not working in File Folder Operation window
Hi, I am trying to use desktop central for copying, moving, renaming files in various files in the managed computers. But the problem I am experiencing is that the links in the File Folder Operation window are not working for me. In step 2, ie Define Configuration, I cannot move to tabs "Rename", "Move" and "Delete" from the tab "Copy". The button "Add More File/Folder" in step 2 is also not functioning. I am not able to save the configuration as the "Save As Draft" button is not working. Kindly

Custom script removed from deployment list - still being run by clients
I downloaded the Disable Flash Autoupdate script from the forum. The first version caused an error in 32 bit machines, and an error message popped up at login since I set the script to run at each login. The revised script works fine, but although I have deleted the original script from the custom script deployment task list, the clients still run it. Shouldn't the agent be updating with the current list of scripts to be run or no longer run?

Configuration template - turn off autoupdate for Adobe Flash
Hello, I already use the configuration templates to turn off autoupdate of Adobe Acrobat and Java. Could you provide a similar template for Adobe Flash (ActiveX and non-IE)?
Is there a disable Adobe Flash updater configuration template being worked on?
I tried to use this script (flashautoupdate.txt) but it did not work. I renamed the file to flashautoupdate.vbs, setup a custon script and deployed it. The script ran successfully according to DC. But my Flash setting is still set to Allow Adobe to install updates (recomended). Did I do something wrong? Is there a Disable Adobe Flash being worked on?
