Software Repository & Patch Store Location's are not Accessible
Just upgraded to build 91003. When logging in to DS the following error appears 'Software Repository & Patch Store Location's are not Accessible'. The DS machine does have access to these locations shared on a server. I just tested patches do download to the Patch Store. Reading an earlier post 'Error Patchstore Build No:91002' the 'DesktopCentral_Server\conf\websettings.conf' does have the correct locations for the swrepository.loc and store.loc. Not sure why this error is appearing.
Upgrade & Migrate DesktopCentral Server
Our Desktop Central Server is running Build # 90145. On a Server 2008 R2 x64. We have two items to tackle. 1. Upgrading/Migrating Server 2008 R2 to a new Server 2012 R2 x64. 2. Upgrading Desktop Central. Questions. Do you have documentation on how to Migrate your Desktop Central Server from older Server 2008 R2 to a new 2012 R2 Server? Can we upgrade from One build to a newer build during migration? or would we have to upgrade prior to migrating? Thanks,
User Account Control Settings - impact on DC scripts
Does setting the User Account Control to "Always Notify" prevent scripts to be run by the Desktop Central Agent? We have a non-AD deployment of DC and AD is not possible at the remote locations. MIke

Pushing shortcuts with spaces
In past versions of DC I was able to push shortcuts with spaces in the file name as long as I used " ". Now DC seems to ignore " ". A Chrome shortcut with the path "C:\Program Files (x86)\Google\Chrome\Application\chrome.exe" --app=https://website I want to point to In the past this has worked an now a shortcut is created with a target of c:\program files and nothing else. Copy Files over Internet
We are deploying Desktop Central to manage computers over the public internet as well as our internal network, but I'm running into an issue. Does anyone know how or can suggest a secure, good way to copy files from the server to the workstations? The configuration works perfectly within our internal network using a UNC share, but that's not an option over the public internet. Thanks!

Prevent removal of agent
How do we "prevent" users from removing the Desktop Central client? I know how to remove the Uninstall option in Programs and Features but that doesn't prevent them from uninstalling it through other methods.

Trying to deploy a file/folder operation configuration
Hello, I just upgraded from build 90066 to 90135 yesterday. I am trying to deploy a new File/Folder Operation Configuration by computer as I've always done and am now getting a prompt for a password with my user name showing. I entered it and nothing seems to be happening. What's going on here? Is there a new setting that I am unaware of in build 90135 or is this a bug? Thanks, Eric

we still evaluate MEDC, so bear with us if this is too simple: we have two notebooks that are assigned to a remote office, but which are most of the time not accessible by the distribution server, as they are out of office. a) should we move them out of the remote office? b) is there a way to do this within MEDC?
DC MSP - change server ip address
Hello, My server has 1 NIC with ip=10.0.0.100 and 2 other virtual NICS (created by vmplayer) I installed DC MSP, and it got the IP of one of the virtual NIC (192.168.186.1) I follwed this instruction (How to make Desktop Central Server use a specific IP Address, if the computer has multiple NICs?) - http://www.manageengine.com/products/desktop-central/desktop-central-server-ip-binding.html but it doesn't help, probably it is for DC and not DC MSP. Configurations
Do configurations have a time out period? After so long do they stop working? I don't think this should be the case but I had some machines that were in a configuration for about a month and didn't update. When I setup a configuration and pushed the software to the machine again it worked within minutes.
User Configurations per computer.
Is there any way to configure user settings to be applied by the computer name ? Settings such as user shared printers, shortcuts, drive mappings and etc. Am I missing the obvious or is this feature just not there, other products in the past had the ability to set user configurations only when on specified computers. I ask because we have about 1/3 of our users who move between departments and offices. Each department or office can have wildly different user configurations. WE basically want to configure
Any planned updates for Security Configurations?
In looking through the list of available options in the Security Configurations, it seems the list is is fairly limited compared to the full options that are available through Group Policy. Are there any plans to update this feature with more options, especially related to some of the new features in Windows 8/8.1? Hello, Firstly I am posting this in the closest forum I can find to Desktop Central, as there isn't the option for it in the forum selection menu. So hopefully a nice mod will move this to the Desktop Central forum. We have set up multiple remote offices based on IP scope. We have a server that has 2 NICs, and so 2 IP addresses. I am wanting to deploy Skype 7 to all our users via DC, we previously installed 6.18 via GPO, so I created a custom script to remove 6.18 as a pre-deployment task. MsiExec.exe /X{1845470B-EB14-4ABC-835B-E36C693DC07D} /passive /norestart However if for some reason Skype was not installed by GPO the pre-deployment script fails and version 7 is not pushed out, how can I configure the exit code to proceed if the 6.18 version was not found?
Push Chrome to XP workstations
I need to push Chrome to my remaining XP workstations, but I need to make sure that IE is still the default browser. We have custom software that has to have IE as the default. I know there is a template for pushing Chrome out, so I think I will be good there, but I am not sure how to set IE as the default AND it not ask the User if they wish to make Chrome the default. thanks! jsbac
File/Folder Operation
In file folder operation, specifically the delete operation, I would like to see more capabilities around verification that a file exists. Case in point..I recently had to delete multiple files of type .exd from our workstations and they can reside in possibly 6 different places. I deployed this configuration to a test account and all it says is 'Execution Failed' 'The system cannot find the path specified' I have no idea of easily knowing if any files were deleted or not at a glance. Logs Folder on Client too big
I installed the agent on about 30 laptops in the company. On each computer has created the folder
C : \ Program Files ( x86 ) \ DesktopCentral_Agent \ logs
which grows about 150 megabytes per day . If this continues I will fill in a short time the hard drives of users . how can I do to prevent or limit does not grow beyond a maximum of 200 Megabytes ? Please help me thank you very much
computer configurations don't execute!
I have deployed some configurations in computer section,I have even tried the templates themselves,I have reset the PC for several times and it's been over 90 mins that these policies have been deployed. None of the computer configurations(such as software deployment,user management,etc) got applied, my user configurations execute properly though.
Mapping Custom Drives

In the shortcut name field I put: C:\Users\Public\Desktop\Treev I get an error stating the Filename, Directory Name, or Volume label syntax is not correct.

View patch jobs or configurations from other technicians
We have a technician that has configured and running a patch job. Other technicians who are logged in are not able to view the patch job(s) or view the status of running patch jobs. We are looking under the 'Configurations' tab and then selecting 'Created by All'. Also on the 'Home' tab there is a 'Configuration Summary Report'. Can that also be made to reflect all Configurations instead of just the logged in technician?
Adobe Reader XI Upgrade
Ladies and Gentlemen, I was trying to upgrade the computers to Adobe Reader XI, but only on the computers that currently have a version of Adobe Reader. I tried adding a pre-deployment activity, in which the configuration would check the computer for a version of Adobe Reader lower than 11, but it just happens that Adobe Reader is not just known by that name. It has so many other names, versions and even Manufacturer's name in the Software Inventory that it doesn't seem to recognize what I am asking
How to remove empty workgroups from Branch Office list
We are standardizing on workgroup names and will eventually have only one workgroup per DC branch office. I have noted that the remote office/workgroups combinations remain even after all PCs have been removed from the remote office/workgroup. Is there a process to run on the server that deletes these unnecessary combinations? Desktop Central reporting wrong DNS servers
When doing as asset scan or a custom report looking for the DNS setting of machines Desktop Central is reporting old DNS addresses that are no longer in use. Checking these machines they have either static or dynamic addresses and using ipconfig /all on either they report the correct DNS servers. Where would Desktop Central be finding the old addresses? What needs to be done to correct this issue?
More detailed execution status
Hi, I would really like to have more details on the individual executions statuses. The individual computers are either yet to apply, retry, failed, or successful. There is "in progress" for the config as a whole, but not on which computers are in progress. I have some configs that copy an entire folder to the computer. After looking at the logs of the target computers, many that are "yet to apply" have received the configuration and are in progress. It would be very helpful if they said for instance:
Replacing an Existing Distribution Server
Hello, We currently have a distribution server setup at one of our remote offices but we have found that there's an issue with this server and it will need to be replaced. We are planning to setup a new server at this office with the same name and IP address but I wanted to find out if there are any additional steps I would need to take to move the desktop central distribution server on to the new machine or if it's just a case of reinstalling the distribution server software? Configurations reports
Hi, I was trying to look at the Configurations reports for a deployment done while back, however it seems to only show Configurations that are not deleted. Have a habit deleting Configurations when they are done. Is DC storing these Configurations in a log after they are deleted?
User configuration to a specific computer

My probleme is that since the two lateste update 99% of my parc is always in the High vurnarability section. I am not sure what to do. i beleive that it has started with the third party critical updates. please help.
