Remote Control on Dual Montior System
A question and a suggestion: First the question: How can I view the secondary monitor output (or the entire screen span) on a client using multiple monitors? When I connect to a machine with two monitors, for instance, I can only see the primary screen output. Every time I try to create a remote connection to a PC I keep having an error complaining that the "publisher is unknown". I haven tried to trust/install the certificate but still have the same problem... Anyone got a solution for this please... would really like to get this going as we do use a few other adventnet programs and this one would tie in nicely... Will Westlake
Asset Agent not getting installed
Hi there, I have about 400 computers in my network that I'm trying to install the agent on, about 100 of them it works fine, however for the rest of them it's not installing the agent, can anyone help me out on this issue? I'm using agent version 6.2.24. I'm getting a bit frustrated and it's only my second day using this software. Any early help would be greatly appreciated.
Desktop Central software distribution
I need to distribute software - specifically the MS office compatibility pack. I have the deployment guide and am using the recommended switches. I am able to execute the file using START/RUN + path. I have 1 workstation I'm trying to distribute to as a test. I have pushed the configuration several times and the result was reported as a success within the Desktop Central 6 application, however the compatibility pack has not installed. There is no error message. I have build #60230 and version 6.0.0.
remote control 8443 already in use
How can we change the port number used for remote control via Desktop Central? Tried restarting DC but didn't help. We're on build v6.0.0 build 60227 Desktop Central uses TCP port 8443 for the remote control communication. This port is already used by some other service. Use edit settings to change the port number or free the port for Desktop Central to use.
invalid workgroups/domains
My network consists of one domain, and no active workgroups. I say "no active workgroups" because occasionally during troubleshooting we will move a workstation from the domain to a workgroup and then back to the domain. Desktop Central now "sees" these workgroups and are listed throughout the web interface. How can I remove these? They aren't really hurting anything, but I'd rather not see them. Period. Don't want them. Any help with removing these and the computers within contained within these
After update, software deployment is broken
I'd love to use your tech support number, but you guys apparently don't answer that number anymore, probably too busy fixing the new set of bugs introduced by the last service pack. I installed the latest service pack, and now NOTHING will deploy. I've gone through all the steps in your FAQ, but it still won't deploy to ANY desktops. Please fix. I've attached a file that shows just one of the problems. Notice that the status is "Executed" and everything else is "Yet to Apply"? That seem like a problem
Desktop Central - Help Desk Ticket System
When a employee uses the Help Desk Submit ticket system, it captures there username. However, in AD the username is not apart of their email address. We strictly use the Alias name. Example: My username is jasonc. However my email address is jason.capo@kellstrom.com Is there a way that Desktop Central can scan the username and get the alias name instead. Problem remote shutdown computer
I have a problem with remote shutdown of computers. When I select the computer through tools and then select shutdown, the computer wont do a shutdown. Even so the server says it has succesfully shutdown. Can u please help me troubleshoot this problem. Wim Thomaere

Can DC coexist with ServiceDesk Plus on the same server hardware/OS installation? Will there be any issues/conflicts? They need to operate on different ports offcourse, but is this a supported configuration? TIA, Henrik

I'm trying to understand when configurations is executed, and I need clarification: Question: Can I run a custum script now (while computer is turned on offcourse, user login optional). .NET 2.0 PUSH
I pushed out .NET 2.0 to 95 computers (dotnetfx2.0.exe /q), 63 were successful "The operation completed successfully" and 30 Failed "The wait operation timed out". I checked these successful computers and .net 2.0 is not installed so I had to run around and do the installs manually. A few computers did have it installed but I think we may have installed it for another piece of software. Why are these PCs showing successful if it is not installed? On the 30 PC that failed is there a way to restart

Problem in Scan systems
From last few days whenever I try to scan a system the screen is stuck on Updating vulnerable database. It may take some time please wait!! Scan system/ Scan all is greyed out . Problem uninstalling agent and installing patches
PROBLEM: I was having problems uninstalling agents "unable to get agent status. operation timed out" I was also having problem installing patches and services packs. Solution: (for me anyway) Click START---RUN Enter msiexec /unregister Then msiexec /regserver (it will look like nothing happened when you run both commands, but something did) after that i was able to uninstall the 6.2.10 and install 6.2.11 agent on pc's where service packs were not installing and some office patches, worked again just

windows firewall exceptions
hello all do you know which firewall exceptions i need to set so that the desktop central could reach the computers in my domain? i tested it on one computer- when the firewall is off the GPO update is successful. when it is on i get failed status "the host is not reachable". thank you Shiran
export PCs needing update
The patch mgmt usually tells us which PCs are missing certain updates. I would like to be able to export the list of PCs from the patch mgmt console. For example, if PC01 and PC02 are missing patchA the patch mgmt console will display patchA with a list of PC01 and PC02. I like the option to be able to export this list into "Custom Groups" to minimize the push to PCs that already have the update. macintel
Moving DC to another server
What are the steps involved with moving Desktop Central to another server? If we backup the data folder and paste that into the new server location, would that be enough? Will the clients recognize the new server location or will we have to re-install the agents? How will it affect our licenses? A step-by-step guide is very much appreciated. Thank you macintel

Maybe Im missing something, but it would be really nice when hour adding machines in the scope to be able to see which ones are already in DC. That way I can go in there from time to time and quickly see/add any machines that were overlooked. Thanks

I have alot of computers that have the agent installed, but I can't get the icon to show on the tray. I have check the install of the agent, to show icon. But even after reboots, still no icon on the client machine. I like to have this, so they can open a ticket with the helpdesk software we have from you. Mike

I'm getting a message on some of our computers when scanning saying: Asset scanning is locked. Contact support. Can anyone tell me what that means. Thanks.
Cant remove computers from scope
I have about 3 64bit OS computers that DC tried/did install when I was on version 6.1.16. I have now upgraded to 6.2, and I cannot remove the computers from the scope. If I try to "uninstall" them, I just get an error but their Agent Status stays as "installed successfully" so it never allows me to remove them. Also, 64bit support would be really nice......
Power Saving piece?
There is a big push to be able to schedule and manually shutdown equipment in recent times. So much so that there are rebates for organizations that buy software to shut computers down. Are there any plans for future development in the ability to turn workstations off either on a schedule or manually. Share folder are configured correctly to everyone and authenticated users with read permissions. Which is the code to launch this package correctly?? Error when Using Remote Control Function
Just trying this piece of software and we seem to have a reoccuring problem - every time we try and connect to a computer the remote PC comes up with an error message related to dcrdservice.exe.... both tested PC's are windows xp pro sp2 in a domain environment...Desktop central is on 6.0.0 build 60207 (loaded onto a windows 2003 server).... Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.... (we are using active x)
