Live Agent Status - Add to Patch Mgmt Module
Hi Support, I see the new feature which is the addition of the live agent status attached to the computer name field on the SOM page in build 80347. This is a great new function, but can I request it is also added to all the pages in the Patch Management section? This is something I have asked for, for a long time, to be able to know if the computer is currently up and available when I want to send patches. I have previously requested the last contact time field be added, but adding the live agent
error patching server
I have scanned a server and chosen to deploy updates. When trying to apply the configuration (or even add another target) I get the following error: "Exception occurred while processing the validateTarget !!!!" Server is running the correct agent and patch scan works fine. Build 80347 Any ideas? Thanks, Dean
Problem with checksum on Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.9 (x64)
I've tried several times to download the latest MS Malicious Software Removal Tool v5.9 (x64) through Service Desk 8 (Build 80339). It downloads and the file size looks identical to the one I downloaded manually from microsoft.com, but I always see a "checksum doesn't match" error and the patch (ID = 15105) is still showing up as "Not yet downloaded" -- is this a known bug? Is there a workaround, such as manually downloading the MRT into the proper store folder? Thanks.
Update Workstation/Servers, then reboot
Greetings I am trying to create a custom configuration that allows me to scan, patch and reboot a group of servers after hours. The policy uses these settings: Reboot Policy Settings Reboot Policy : Force Reboot [ 5 minutes after deployment , include servers ] Reboot/Shutdown window Title : Your Computer will be Restarted Reboot/Shutdown window Message : New Patches are installed in your computer. It will be restarted. It seems to deploy fine, however, the servers do not reboot. No one is logged
False positives for two .Net 4.5.1 updates (15026 and 15028)
Win 7 + SP1 (x64) workstations. Yesterday, after applying latest MS updates using Windows Update, machines were coming up clean when scanned by Desktop Central -- all MS updates released 11 Feb (and earlier) were installed. This morning, after a Desktop Central patch DB update (to fix the Malicious Software Removal download checksum error), the machines are all showing that they're missing .Net 4.5.1 updates 15026 and 15028. I've gone to one of the machines and manually installed the Desktop Central
Automate Patch Deployment Fore reboot after XXXX minutes
Hi! I found an unpleasant surprise... DC is doing automatic patch installation for workstations in every monday after working hours. We have configured Fore Reboot after XXXX minutes - its working. But now I discovered... when user is logged in to computer over Remote Desktop Connection, then it will go force reboot immediately after patch installation - it does not wait XXXX mintues.
False positive for Win XP patch 15117 (KB2909210)
I'm noticing that all eight of our remaining Win XP Pro (32-bit) workstations are showing that they're missing Paatch 15117 (KB2909210) even though we've applied all of the latest MS updates using Microsoft Update back on 11 February. As a test, I used Desktop Central to download the update, then manually installed it on one Win XP workstation, then rebooted it, then rescanned it with Desktop Central. It's still showing that it's missing patch 15117. This looks like another false positive. Can

How to enforce "Disable Automatic Java Updates" template
Hi all I deployed the "Disable Automatic Java Updates" template a while ago which prevented all Java update notifications. However, when Java 7 Update 9 was released, the notifications re-appeared on all workstations (both Win 7 and XP). It seems that a previous Java update overwrote the registry keys. My question is, if there is a way to enforce this template? The only alternative I see is to deploy registry keys via group policy. Thanks for your advice! Regards Stefan

Adobe ShockWave Player 12.06 patch for Windows?
We're running Desktop Central 8 release 80296 -- I think that's the latest available. Patch / Vulnerability DB updates happen every night at 1800 (and I run it manually every morning, just to be sure). I see the Mac version of the Adobe ShockWave Player v12.06 dated November 28, and I see the template for creating a package to deploy Adobe ShockWave Player v12.06, but I don't see a Win version of the Adobe ShockWave Player v12.06 in the list of available patches. Any word on when it will be added

MS Patch KB2861193 - False Positive
Hi, A few of our machines are scanned in DC and apparently missing patch KB2861193 - However, this patch is not for the machines. The machines scanned are Windows 7 SP 1 and the details from the MS website say the patch is applicable to .Net 4.5 on Vista SP2 and Svr 2008 SP 2 only >> http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2861193 Is there anything I can do to remove this patch from DC so it doesn't show a false positive?

Problems display missing patches
Hello, after the update from build 260 to 279 the missing patches are not displayed correctly. In the menu item: "Patch Mgmt" -> "All Patches" the slider "Missing Patches" display "6" in brackets, but in the "Patch View" no patches are displayed. The same in the "Computer View". Only when I use the "Detailed View" all missing patches are displayed. Thank you very much in advance for any ideas. Greetings Ulrich Steuter
Us a template for Automatic Updates
Is it possible to use a patch template with automatic updates? For example, I need to perform automatic updates on a particular Remote Office and Domain and deploy the patches provided: 1. during 90 minute refresh (or at startup - which ever I select) 2. Allow user to skip deployment 3. Allow user to skip reboot 4. Display a custom reboot message. I can do all these for software but not automatic patch deployments. Am I missing something or can this feature set be added in future

Microsoft rereleased Patches for Sept 2013 show original release date in DC
I have not approved all the MS patches for automatic deployment by DC becuase of the many reported errors for the Sept 10, 2013 patches. The vulnerability database was updated 9/23/13 at 7 AM Central Daylight Time. 4 Security Bulletins (MS13-067, 072, 073, 074 ) and two non-security patches were updated 9/12/13. I see no MS 9/12/13 released patches in DC. Are the listed patches in D the re-released versions or do I need to wait until they are distributed via DC? Thanks, Mike

Patch Management Improvement
Hello, Can it be made possible to select only "Security Updates" to be downloaded and installed. At the moment Desktop Central requires a "severity" to be selected as well. This will cause issues with the applications running on our servers.

Feature request/enhancement WOL & Patching
Hi Support, I was wondering if it is possible to add the wake on lan option to the Automate Patch Deployment. If we have computers to be patched and a user has switched them off, it would be good to have the option of waking the computers up before Scan systems, download and deploy missing patches. Kind Regards, Billy Greig
Desktop Central Announces End Of Life for Old Patch Database!
Why this Announcement? Desktop Central’s Patch Management has significantly evolved in the last 2 years like introducing support for MS SQL, Mac Patch Management etc. These enhancements required a lot of internal changes in our Patch Database (DB) and have been maintaining several versions of the patch DB, so that the customers are not forced to migrate to any specific build. We are also planning to add a lot more features like patch uninstallation in the near future. It is extremely difficult

Automated Patching Failed
Last night, none of our machines scheduled were patched. The error is "No missing patches found". All of those machines are missing patches and show up in the Highly Vulnerable category. Those patches have all been approved. If I click the PC name under the patch scanning task, it doesn't show any missing patches. But if I click the PC name under the All Managed Systems category it lists all of the missing patches that came out on Patch Tuesday. Why did this fail and how can we resolve this?
Patch Configuration for Remote Sites
Good Afternoon, We dumping WSUS and trying out Desktop Central for patch management. Most my configurations are set but there one automated patch setup that I like some input on. Most of our campus is connected by fiber, but we have two remote sites that are connected by a very poor AT&T T-1 line. My thought is both sites should have their own sites in AD and when it comes time to configure a automated patch configuration, it will be easier to do. Can Desktop Central preposition a update to
Only patch PC when on WiFI
It would be helpful if there was an option to configure patch deployment when the device is connected by WiFi (or cable) to avoid large downloads to laptops. We have a large number of users on the road who connect their laptops with 3G. To avoid large data bills we would like to be able to configure a template to prevent excessive data charges with portable devices and allow the device to update when at home or office and on WiFi
