NTFS reports fail to generate in ADManager Plus with the error: There is no matching data for your input(s)

Issue description

When generating NTFS reports in ADManager Plus, the following error appears: There is no matching data found for the provided input(s). This issue may occur if the ADManager component isn't functioning as expected or if the service account lacks read permissions to access the file share or DFS path.

Possible causes

  • Service misconfiguration: The report generation service may not be running or configured correctly.

  • Permission restrictions: The ADManager Plus service account may not have the read permission over the file share.

  • Service account setup issues: The service account might be improperly configured in services.msc.

Prerequisites

  • The service account must have Full Control over the ADManager Plus installation folder to ensure all service-created files and folders inherit the required permissions.

  • Check that the report generation service is running and correctly configured, and verify that the ADManager Plus\ES\bin\wrapper.exe process is running or set to start automatically.

  • Ensure the AD environment is stable and accessible, with the service account having the Read permissions, and Traverse Folder/Execute File, to query NTFS permissions.

Resolution

Step 1: Verify and restart the Elasticsearch process

  1. Open Task Manager or Process Explorer on the ADManager Plus server.

  2. Look for any processes running from the following path:
    ...\ADManager Plus\ES\bin\wrapper.exe
This process is responsible for running the Elasticsearch component.

  3. If the process is not running, restart the ADManager Plus service:

    • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, and press enter.

    • In the Services window, locate ManageEngine ADManager Plus.

    • Right-click on it and select Restart.

    • Wait for the service to fully restart and check Task Manager again to ensure that wrapper.exe is now running.

Step 2: Check and configure the service account

  1. Open services.msc on the ADManager Plus server.

  2. Locate ADManager Plus Service and ensure it is running under the correct service account.

  3. If needed, update the service account and confirm it has Read permissions over the file shares.

Step 3: Grant Full Control over the installation folder

  1. Navigate to the ADManager Plus installation folder.

  2. Right-click the folder and select Properties.

  3. Go to the Security tab and ensure the service account has Full Control over the folder.

  4. Click Apply.

Tips

  • Always keep ADManager Plus updated to the latest version to benefit from performance improvements and bug fixes.

  • Periodically check that the permissions granted to the service account are not removed or altered. This ensures uninterrupted access to necessary resources for report generation and other processes.
