Objective
The purpose of upgrading ADAudit Plus using PostgreSQL is to improve security, performance, and compliance. The upgrade brings in new features, fixes known issues, and makes the application more stable. It also helps the tool work better with updated IT systems, improves auditing, and reduces security risks. In addition, it enhances database speed, makes reports faster, and ensures a smooth user experience while meeting compliance requirements.
Prerequisites
Access to the server where ManageEngine ADAudit Plus is installed.
A user account with full control permissions over the ADAudit Plus installation directory is required to perform the upgrade.
Steps to follow
Step 1: Stop the ADAudit Plus service
Log in to the ADAudit Plus server.
Navigate to services.msc, right-click the ADAudit Plus service, and select Stop.
Step 2: Back up the ADAudit Plus setup
Before upgrading, ensure a complete backup by:
Take a snapshot of the system where ADAudit Plus is installed.
Navigate to the ADAudit Plus installation path and zip the entire folder <Installation_Directory>\ManageEngine\ADAudit Plus.
Open Command Prompt, navigate to <Installation_Directory>\ManageEngine\ADAudit Plus\bin, and execute the command backupDB.bat.
Step 3: Initiate the upgrade process
Open Command Prompt and navigate to <Installation_Directory>\ManageEngine\ADAudit Plus\bin.
Run UpdateManager.bat when prompted to back up configuration data; type N if you've already completed the backup (recommended) or Y to create one before continuing.
Step 4: Install the PPM file and import the certificate
Click Browse to select the downloaded PPM file. If you haven’t already, download the latest service pack from the official source.
Click Install to start the upgrade. If upgrading to build 7051 or later, follow the prompts to import the certificate:
For build 7260, click here to download the required certificate.
For build 7270 or later, click here to download the appropriate certificate.
Click Browse to locate and import the downloaded certificate file.
After importing the certificate, click Browse again to select the relevant PPM file.
Click Install to proceed with the upgrade.
Step 5: Restart the ADAudit Plus service
Once the installation is complete, close the installer.
Navigate to Start > Run, type services.msc, locate the ManageEngine ADAudit Plus service, and click Start to restart the service.
Validation and confirmation
Once the upgrade is complete and the ADAudit Plus service has been restarted, you can verify the current build version and license details by logging in to the ADAudit Plus web console and navigating to the License section.
Tips
Ensure that a snapshot of the ADAudit Plus server is taken and available prior to initiating the upgrade process.
If the upgrade fails due to unexpected errors, corrupted files, or compatibility issues, the snapshot allows you to roll back the system to its exact state before the upgrade. This minimizes downtime and ensures business continuity.
ADAudit Plus stores critical audit data and configurations. A snapshot ensures that none of this information is lost or altered during the upgrade attempt.
