How to enable User Session Recording in ADAudit Plus
Objective
To configure and enable user session recording in ADAudit Plus, allowing you to monitor, record, and securely archive RDP and console sessions on selected Windows servers for enhanced auditing, accountability, and compliance purposes.
Prerequisites
You must have an account with administrative privileges in ADAudit Plus.
The ADAudit Plus agent must be installed on all target computers where sessions will be recorded.
Target computers must run Windows Server 2008 or later.
Sufficient disk space should be available on the ADAudit Plus server for storing video recordings.
The ffmpeg utility must be downloaded and configured in the ADAudit Plus installation directory to enable session video capture.
Steps to follow
Extract the downloaded zip file.
Go to <extracted_file_path>\ffmpeg-N-104704-ge22dff43e7-win64-gpl\bin\ffmpeg, copy ffmpeg.exe, and paste it into the ADAudit Plus bin folder (<product_installation_path>\bin\).
Step 2: Enable user session recording on a particular machine
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console using an account with administrative privileges.
Navigate to the Configuration tab > Configured Server(s) > User Session Recording.
In the domain dropdown, select the domain containing the computers you want to configure.
Click on Add Servers.
In the pop-up window, search for and select the computers you want to enable recording on.
Click ok to include the selected computers.

Step 3: To change user session recording settings
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console using an account with administrative privileges.
Navigate to the Admin > General Settings > USR Settings.

Step 4: View user session recording reports
Log in to the ADAudit Plus web console using an account with administrative privileges.
Click on any report > Click the hyperlink under the Caller Machine Name column in the table to view the relevant user session recording report.


Validation and confirmation
Verify that the selected computers are listed in the user session recording configuration view.
Start a test RDP or console session on a configured computer.
Navigate to the reports tab, select user session recording reports, and confirm that a recording is created.
Tips
Periodically monitor disk space usage to ensure sufficient capacity for storing session videos.
Adjust retention settings to comply with your organization’s audit policies and regulatory requirements.
Use filters in the user session recording reports to locate specific sessions quickly.
