How to configure log retention in ADSelfService Plus

How to configure log retention in ADSelfService Plus

Objective

This article explains how to enable and configure log retention in ADSelfService Plus to manage log file growth effectively. By setting a retention period, older logs are automatically deleted, preventing the application drive from running out of space and ensuring smoother performance.

Prerequisite

  • Have administrative access to the ADSelfService Plus server and the web console.

Steps to configure log retention

  1. Log in to the ADSelfService Plus admin console.
  2. Navigate to Admin > Product Settings > Connection > General Settings.
  3. Expand the Startup and Logging Settings section.
  4. Check the box next to the option Retain logs for __ days.
  5. Enter the number of days you wish to keep the log files. For example, entering 60 will ensure that only the logs from the last 60 days are stored. Older logs beyond the specified period will be automatically deleted.
  6. Click Save.

Tips

  • Choose the right retention period: For most environments, 60–90 days of logs is sufficient. If your organization has compliance requirements, set the retention period accordingly.
  • Archive before deletion: If older logs are required for audits or troubleshooting, schedule periodic log exports before they are purged.
  • Monitor disk space usage: Regularly monitor the disk space on the ADSelfService Plus server to confirm that log retention is working as expected and log growth is under control.
