[Tips & Tricks] Auto-approving a change

Hello folks,

A change is to control risk and minimize disruption to associated IT services and business operations, consequently ensuring that the best possible levels of service quality and availability are maintained.

A major change that can have a medium to high impact on business operations and may have financial implications that always requires CAB approval, as well as management approval.

Whereas, changes like patch deployment or OS upgrade that occur routinely and have low impact, less risky on business might not require approval but would still need recommendations from CAB members. Recommendations from CAB members ensure their plans do not be interrupted.

In such a scenario, a change can be considered auto-approved upon receiving recommendations from all CAB members.

With the build 9418, an enhancement has been rolled out to auto-approve a change request when all CAB members recommend it.

This can be configured in change workflow and any change that goes through this workflow will be auto-approved once recommendations received from all CAB members.

Change workflows can be configured from Admin > Problem/Change Management.
