Dual Persona

Definition — What is Dual Persona?

The term Dual Persona in a mobile management context refers to mobile devices provisioned with two separate and independent end-user environments. Usually, one environment is for work-related apps and data that is managed by the IT team, while the other environment is for personal data. The goal of dual persona is to provide an organization with a way to keep corporate applications and their associated data segregated and protected on an employee's personal mobile device. To protect the employee's privacy, the IT team can only see and manage the data in the business environment. When an employee leaves the company or loses his device, the IT team can wipe the enterprise portion of the device without affecting the employee's personal data. IT teams can also set policies for the work portion of the device, which improves security.

A dual-persona solution greatly increases the likelihood that employees will feel comfortable using their personal devices at work, which means the business will benefit more from BYOD as a result of increased participation and raise employee satisfaction.
