Definition β What is BYOD?
BYOD - ( Bring Your Own Device ) Itβs a policy that enables employees to bring personal devices - Laptops, Smartphones, Tablets, and USB devices for company purposes and giving those devices access to the company network. In the year 2011, official support for BYOD programs was introduced into the organizations. Statistics say over a third of worldwide employees use a personal device in their place of work. This can make employees comfortable and more productive as they are very much habitual with their own devices. BYOD has transformed the business world by creating new opportunities to grow. According to Forbes, the BYOD market is set to reach nearly $367 billion by 2022.
BYOD Benefits:
- Cost considerations are another reason many businesses have embraced BYOD policies. While companies previously had to pay for the Hardware, Software, and Service contracts to devices, BYOD policies have reduced this cost for the company.
- A clear BYOD strategy can increase employee loyalty to your business by allowing them to control their own work. Being able to access the company network from personal devices (Smartphones and Laptops) removes the limitations, letting employees do work anywhere at any time.
