Other Windows Log Files

We have some windows servers (Windows 2000 and 2003) with several Logfiles that are stored in the Filesystem (e.g. d:\logfiles\app1.log).

How can we catch those messages? Is there a way to add these logfiles to the windows event log? how? Are there free tools?
