Microsoft intune in servicedesk plus mobile apps

Hello all,

We are pleased to announce that Microsoft Intune MAM (Mobile Application Management) has been integrated into the ServiceDesk Plus mobile apps.

With Intune MAM integration, organizations can securely manage access to the ServiceDesk Plus mobile app and protect business data through centrally administered policies while delivering a seamless user experience.

1. Why are we supporting MAM?

Organisations using Microsoft Intune can configure App Protection Policies and Conditional Access Policies to secure corporate data. However, these policies are only enforced on apps that are integrated with the Microsoft Intune SDK.

With the Intune SDK now integrated into SDP, organisations can install SDP - On Premises | Intune app from the stores and apply their existing Intune policies on the app. These policies can be enforced not only on Intune MDM-enrolled devices but also on personal (BYOD) devices, allowing users to access SDP without needing to enrol their device into Intune.

2. Benefits of this new app.

SDP for Intune supports Intune's App Protection Policies and conditional access policies, giving administrators the ability to enforce controls such as:

  1. Restricting access to enterprise data from unmanaged or unauthorized applications.
  2. Controlling data transfer and interactions between managed and unmanaged applications.
  3. Centralized policy and permission management through Microsoft Intune.
  4. Enhanced enterprise data protection and governance.
  5. Data leakage prevention (DLP) and controlled data sharing capabilities.
  6. Support for organizational security and compliance requirements.
  7. App-level protection without requiring full device enrollment, where applicable.
  8. Copy/paste restrictions across apps.
  9. Screen capture prevention.
  10. App-level PIN for access control.

Admins can configure these policies based on their organisation's security and compliance requirements directly from the Intune Admin Center.

3. Choosing the Right App:

SDP - On Premises | Intune - Your organisation uses Microsoft Intune to manage devices or apps (Intune MDM or MAM).

ServiceDesk Plus | On Premises
- Your organisation uses a non-Intune MDM provider or does not use any MDM solution.

4. Detailed steps for on-boarding:

Prerequisites:
  1. Microsoft Intune license.
  2. Azure AD / Entra ID tenant.
  3. Admin access to the Intune Admin Center.

Microsoft Intune MAM — App Protection Policy Setup:

  1. Go to Apps → Protection → Create.
  2. Select the platform: iOS/iPadOS or Android.
  3. Since SDP - On Premises | Intune is not yet listed in the Microsoft Partner Application Program, it will not appear in the public apps list. Instead, select Custom Apps and enter the app identifier manually:
  4. iOS: com.manageengine.sdp.intune
  5. Android: com.manageengine.sdp.intunes

Notes
(We are actively working with the Microsoft Team to get SDP - On Premises | Intune registered under the Microsoft Partner Application Program. Once approved, the app will be available directly in the public apps list.)

5. Configure the required data protection settings (data transfer, access controls, conditional launch, etc.)

6. Under Assignments, assign the policy to the target user groups and save. Once assigned, users who sign in to SDP - On Premises | Intune with their organisational account will have the configured policies applied automatically.

Notes
Android users are required to have the Company Portal app installed on their devices for SDP - On Premises | Intune application to work properly. If Company Portal is not detected, the app will automatically prompt the user to install it before proceeding.

App Deployment for Intune MDM:

This step is only required if your organisation deploys apps to devices through Intune MDM. For MAM (BYOD), users can download SDP - On Premises | Intune directly from the App Store or Play Store.

  1. Go to Intune Admin Center → Apps → All Apps → Create.
  2. Select iOS Store App or Android Store App as the app type.
  3. Search for SDP -> On Premises | Intune and select it.
  4. Assign the app to the relevant user groups and save.
