Gaps in data

We are testing the application on a VM platform. After copying the harware server over to VM ware we now get intermittant gaps in data (data charts normally then stops for x minutes, then starts back up). It doesn't appear to be network related, we do not run anti virus and there are no backups to the drive it was copied to.

What are possible casues of missing data?
