Custom groups using custom data

I would like to be able to create custom groups using the custom data fields. Is this possible?

For example, I add location information and would like to create a custom group based on that location. I don't see how to do this. We are on version 90029 but planning on updating soon. If it's not in our current version is it in the new version?
